Lake Shore Athletic Club - Weight room is amazing!

Huge facility with 3 salt water pools (indoor, outdoor and shallow kiddie outdoor)…read more Myriad strength and weight machines and equipment. Gigantic treadmill room. Indoor track. Squash and handball courts inside, with tennis and pickleball courts outside. Even a golf swing room. Locker rooms are clean and attractive, bordering on being somewhat luxurious, with saunas and hot tubs in each. Parking is a challenge, but with a little patience you'll find someone on their way out. Some Medicare advantage programs provide membership (such as Kaiser Permanente) at no cost to you. Memberships require an initiation fee, and monthly dues (not applicable for Medicare Advantage.)

Unwelcoming, apathetic, and rude front desk staff who mock disabled people!…read more I went in today to see about getting a membership for my family member who is a disabled senior citizen with Down Syndrome and I was appalled by how rude and apathetic the people working there are. They actually made derpy faces and rolled their eyes at us when we asked questions about how their memberships work and are billed. Because of this, I would neve give then a penny of our money. For a group of people whose job it is to sell memberships and greet members, I can't believe how hard they go out of their way to be unwelcoming and unhelpful. We had to ask for a tour of the facilities. They refused to talk directly to Warrren even thought he understands English and had questions. They had no interest in talking directly with him or showing him around or telling him about the activities they offer. I told the young man giving the tour 3 times that he was hard of hearing yet he refused to speak up or engage with him directly. The amount of apathy is truly astounding. But, the alarming part is that they blatantly made fun of 2 people with disabilities to our faces. This is discriminatory and I called the red /burgundy haired woman out on this behavior and told her it was not appreciated at all and that we would be taking our business elsewhere because of her behavior specifically. I hope they have cameras so their manager can review this interaction and see the faces she made at us as we were talking, I flipped her the bird as we were leaving because I was furious but she should be fired for making fun of disabled folks.

In my opinion, their loss. This club is not only the best bang for your buck in Clark County with all the ammenities it offers but management and whole staff (incl Jody) do a great job. Everyone is nice and helpful. Someone mentioned VTC for tennis, I am still a member there and like the classes and pros a lot, but it's next to impossible to get a court. And while the annual dues my be low, it's very expensive overall. CGM has several days of free play for men and women, they provide balls for our tennis matches and Carlos & Emory are just the best. I love the fact that it is private and they limit the membership so we can all use the facility for tennis, pickleball, gym, pools, saunas, classes, etc., when we want.

The rudeness…read moreof Jody and the general ghosting by management whenever there is a problem makes VTC a much better choice for a serious tennis player. The best proof is management knows that Jody is a problem for the members (see the posts here), but doesn't care. Sort of sad because Carlos and his group are really trying. Knew the former owners, and can tell you don wouldn't have put up with it (now both deceased). Pretty well known person who gets around who normally you wouldn't want to offend too much, but you reap what you sow.

It can get a bit hot in the court, but it will be much appreciated in the winter months. Brandon (staff) is very friendly and we appreciated his help today.

They're always welcoming, friendly, and genuinely happy to see you. That kind of atmosphere doesn't happen by accident--it clearly starts with great management. You can tell the leadership here truly values their employees, and it shows in the way the staff treats every customer. Happy employees create an amazing environment, and that's exactly what Jumbo's has built. I truly hope they continue creating and supporting great employees like the ones they have now. The courts are great, the energy is always positive, and the people are what keep me coming back. I love this place because of the employees and the community they've created. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to play pickleball in Beaverton!
