    Warm Apple Crisp

We ordered the 14 oz sirloin with sides of baked potato and garlic mashed potatoes. The sirloin was cooked perfectly and the Demi glaze on top was flavorful, I wish there was more! The garlic mashed potatoes were my favorite, super creamy and garlicky. The Mac & cheese really lacked flavor and could use a sharper cheese or more seasoning (even just more salt would've helped). The warm apple crisp was absolutely delicious. Service was amazing (as always) and the inside was very romantic, especially perfect on a snowy night!

    | Delmonico's Steakhouse - Madison, WI Had a great evening at Delmonico's Steakhouse in Madison! Kicked things off with a handcrafted strawberry martini that was absolutely amazing -- made just for me, and I really appreciate that personal touch. For dinner, I went with the 16oz Ribeye, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I paired it with their famous garlic mashed potatoes -- creamy, garlicky, and everything you'd want in a classic side. I also ordered the hand-cut fries, which were listed as 7oz, but I swear it was closer to 10-12oz. No complaints there -- they were crispy, seasoned just right, and super satisfying. The dining room had that classic white tablecloth steakhouse vibe, and the whole place carried a stylish, upscale "new city" energy that made the experience feel special without being over the top. If you're in Madison and craving steak, definitely check this place out. Solid 4 stars all around -- well done, Delmonico's! -- TheFoodie99

We went to their new happy hour (4-6pm Tuesday-Sunday) and everything was amazing! We didn't have reservations but it wasn't a problem. The service here is always amazing and is one of my favorite parts about dining here. The food was all amazing. The croquettes were my favorite. The happy hour menu is very decently priced with the select martinis being half off. We went around 4:30 on Sunday and it was very quiet and nice in the bar area.

    Best filet in town.

Best steakhouse in town paired with the best bartenders. Just dropped in for their new happy hour that's really nice. Would recommend!

Had never been here considering there are a few other great steakhouses near by, but thought it was ok after finally trying it. The tuna and steak cuts were decent, for the price they were not super flavorful and tuna was a little over seared because it was not the right texture. The drinks were the highlight of the night, really well made. For sides, the mac and cheese was on the dry side if you like that, but the mashed potatoes were tasty and well seasoned. Service was fairly slow, but considering we had a large party on a busy Friday night it was fine. Though it still felt a bit impersonal and that we were ignored since the gratuity was added automatically. I did like the decor and ambiance a lot!

This is on a nice corner - large windows allow a view inside, which features nice lighting accents, a beautiful bar, and white tablecloth service. We had a reservation, and when we arrived we were promptly seated at a nice table. A server arrived, introduced herself, and provided water to the table. A few moments later, the waiter arrived, introduced himself and provided menus and a wine list. Shortly after that, a loaf of bread arrived - 6 slices, with nicely salted butter. It was a nice loaf, with a crispy crust that went well with the salted butter. Some things to consider: the sides are "family" size. We all ordered their hash browns, but honestly, it was so large we all took most of it home. To start with, my wife and I split a Caesar salad, which had white anchovies which was quite good. The croutons were good, and the parmesan cheese on the top was abundant. For entrees, I selected their 14 ounce Sirloin, which was a bottom cut, medium rare. My wife selected their Surf & Turf which had a filet and two scallops, while my son had their scallop dinner. My sirloin was cooked properly, seasoned properly, and was delicious. While it is a tougher cut than a tenderloin, it was so flavorful that it was a delight. My wife enjoyed her Surf & Turf, and my son enjoyed his scallops. One thing we all noted - the hash browns (my wife and son got the standard, I tried the loaded) were too salty. My wife noted "I really like salt, and these are too salty." We ordered a nice bottle of wine - corkage seemed a bit above market rate at 4 to 5 times street values, but you get really good service here. The wine glassware was very nice. I wish we could have tried dessert, but unfortunately, the hash browns were too filling. So this place has ambience, it has excellent service, and excellent food. What's not to like?

Excellent service, delicious fresh bread clean & classy decor (yacht feeling) with good music in the background. Steaks are superb, scallops fresh & perfectly cooked & ahi tuna perfect texture and wonderful flavors. The bone broth appetizer was an unexpected delight. The garlic mashed potatoes missed the mark, would have like them a little thicker with some texture also would like them hot not warm. Blueberry lemonade was fresh & really hit the spot!

We had a lovely dining experience at Johnny's last night with outstanding service from the most charming server, Emily, and outstanding drinks and filling dinners. She was the most knowledgeable server with the sharpest and fastest responses to questions -- what a pro. We asked Emily for her recommendations and I ordered all of them, from drinks to dinner. She did not steer me wrong! The prime rib was incredible, although there was a decent 1/4 of the piece that was fat. Still, the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious and the goat cheese salad upgrade she recommended was perhaps the best salad I've ever eaten. We also had incredible martinis, like, outstanding and easy to throw back. If you like sweet cocktails, get the Simple Peach and enjoy yourself. For dessert, we had the turtle cheesecake and I don't always love cheesecake, but that piece was incredible and the caramel was not overwhelming as it usually is. Would we go back? Absolutely. Will we ask for Emily? Every time. Great night out!

I came here with a party of four and we all ordered steaks off of the menu. A couple of aged Ribeyes and a couple of sirloins. All were perfectly done as ordered. We shared a couple of sides along with the loaded hash browns. All in all the food was amazing along with an incredible server that made great recommendations off of the menu. If you're looking for an amazing steak Johnny Delmonico's is the place to go when in Madison.

Our server Ally (not sure how she spells it) was amazing! So friendly and easy going. I am not a fancy person in this fancy restaurant but she made me feel very welcomed. We got to speak to one of the cooks while waiting for our table and he was so friendly and professional, big fan of his. As for food: we started with the Fried calamari and the lobster wellingtons. The calamari was delicous, so perfectly fried and crispy without feeling greasy. The lobster wellingtons were good but I don't know if I would order them again. The spice profile was intriguing and the mushroom sauce was tasty but it didn't wow me like the calamari. Next, my party of three ordered three filet mignons - all MR, of course! I got the additional marrow butter, and my two friends got the truffle butter and the au poivre w/ fried onions. The steak was perfectly cooked, so juicy, and the demi-glacé was so die for I wish I ordered extra! The marrow butter was very complex, I've never had anything quite like it but I definitely recommend! For my side I got a MOUNTAIN of garlic mashed potatoes that were deliciously smooth and flavorful. Add the Demi-glacé and a bit of steak and you're in for an orgasmic experience. We ended the night with the crème brûlée which was BEAUTIFUL to look at I felt so fancy. It was delicious, I really loved the candied orange with it. That being said, next time I go I would want to try something new I don't know if it's the best you can do. As for ambiance: it's a very nice place, you're going to want to dress up a bit. It's very fancy without being in your face about it. It's a subtle classy that allows for everyone to feel welcome (but also I went when it was extremely dead so take that with a grain of salt). Side note! The bar is so beautiful!

The historic building (with its cool backstory) adds a unique charm, and whether you're at the bar, in the Boat Room, or on the patio during happy hour, it just feels special. The drinks are top-notch. Their cocktail menu is creative and well-executed think perfectly balanced classics and inventive options that pair beautifully with seafood. The wine and beer selection is solid too, with plenty of crisp whites that complement the menu. But the real stars are the oysters and crab legs. The oysters are incredibly fresh (they boast daily shipments), briny, and perfectly shucked some of the best I've had anywhere. We ordered a mix from the raw bar and couldn't stop. The crab legs? Outstanding huge, sweet, and steamed to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning so the natural flavor shines through. Paired with their drawn butter, it was pure indulgence. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, the portions generous, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. If you're craving excellent seafood in a great setting, make a reservation at Tempest you won't be disappointed!

We had reservations, so we were seated right away which was a plus. Also, I will say I don't think any of the issues we had were because of our waitress. She was super friendly and quick enough to take our orders on a day when there restaurant seemed full enough, but manageable. We got our drink orders in and our food at the same time to speed up the process for getting little kids food, and the waitress even took note of that. We also ordered an appetizer to help during the wait. It took a while for the drinks to come out, but they were all rather tasty. I think my apple cider mocktail was the best and refreshing since it was getting hot in the restaurant with the sun beating in. Our food however took forever and the kids meals did not come out any earlier than everyone else. One person in our group also initially didn't get his meal, which the waitress apologized and said there was a mixup in the kitchen. That's fine, it happens, but then the staff running meals tried to bring him the wrong order 3 times. The rest of us were all finished eating by the time he finally got his food. Overall, the food was fine. I got the eggs benedict which was a little underdone on the eggs for me as the whites were too runny for me. The kids chicken nuggets were pretty tasty with a flaky breading. I heard decent reviews of the breakfast burger, but the thing that was the best to us was the breakfast sandwich. It was quite messy, but the messiness of the sauce was worth it. We also got an appetizer of the cinnamon roll. I feel like it's a little mislabeled though, as it was more like a morning bun with some frosting/glaze over the top. Tasted pretty good and helped keep kids entertained for a while. Overall, the food was fine, but the experience wasn't great. With the multiple mixups in orders and getting a little green house effect going with the sun shining in, there wsnt a great feeling when leaving. Again, I don't think it was our waitresses fault, so not sure what was going on in the kitchen.

We found our way to Sardine after their recent nod in the NY Times, so we made a reservation for a Thursday evening and off we went! The location is stellar, not only is the space expertly curated to give a slightly elevated vibe, but it also provides a fish house-y feeling as the colors, decor, lighting and wood throughout lend themselves to a spot known for seafood. In addition to the interior, they are located right on the lakefront, which creates calming and gorgeous views from inside or outside! Before diving into the food, we landed on a few cocktails to start the night off with. The cocktail menu was well laid out with house and classic cocktails along with a section solely dedicated to tableside served Absinthe! We went with a classic and house cocktail respectively. I seemed to enjoy my Pimms Cup a bit more than my buddy enjoyed his Old Fashioned, but he made a pivot to a beer for his second drink, so all was saved! Food wise, as noted, they are seafood forward, but have a few other offerings for those land dwellers! The menu is not expansive, but it is robust in the areas of offerings from apps to oysters, salads to sides and of course entrees. For our starter, we went with the warm goat cheese, because I am currently obsessed with warm fancy cheese dip style dishes, no shame! The cheese came with grilled bread, however the bread was a bit hard and made enjoying the creamy texture and feel of the goat cheese complicated. I would have much preferred a softer variety of bread or toast, or a less grilled portion. For dinner once of us went seafood, the other steak. The swordfish was light, well cooked and delightful. The steak frites were a bit heavier with less components, but no less tasty! The mustard sauce served on the side was perfection and a perfect accompaniment. For a fairly plain dish, the simple preparation was good, and the fries were crisp and well seasoned. It was not the best steak frites I have ever had, but it was a steak dish from a seafood spot, so I respect it and still enjoyed it quite a bit! Service was stellar from entry to exit. Getting to the host(ess) stand can be a bit confusing as it is located in the middle of the restaurant, but once there, they take care of you! Our server was kind, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with. Overall, Sardine was a great evening with a solid meal, good drinks, great service and a uniquely Madison vibe!
