They call themselves an eco-cultural center, housing a small retail shop, workshops and even yoga classes. They're open for lunch, and I recommend sitting out in the backyard garden, it's just adorable and peaceful. So, the menu changes daily, only offering one entree option. So, find the item of the day of the week you like, if not all of them, and you're good to go. First, you're off to their salad bar, included with your entree. This was one of the most incredible salad bars I've seen. All fresh, unique and loads of options. This ain't no Golden Corral funky iceburg lettuce bar. And, you can go back as many times as you'd like. This was my pretty veggie plate, and yes, I ate all of it. I would have gone back for seconds, but, I wanted to save room for my entree, of course. Well, I truly lucked out, when I was there, it was Feijoada day (feijoda da vegana com farofa, couve e arroz integtal, tofu assado ao molho madeira, batata assada e arroz integral). This was so awesome! Feijoada is typically a meat like stew, so, to have a vegetarian option that I could try, was really great. You can eat each element separately, or, combine to build a hearty stew. The beans, potato and tofu combination was really flavorful and delicious. I really enjoyed the braised greens as well, and the rice might have been some of the best rice I've ever had. It was tender, yet fluffy, soft and flavorful. The farofa was excellent too.

I always get the frutaria less sugar option which is perfect sweetness for me. The options for additions are great. The only downside is the price, pretty expensive for açaí in Brazil. Coconut water and plethora of juice options. They also have a menu with food, although I have never tried any of it to comment.

Here is the breakdown: FOOD Love their açaí bowls and the add-on option to different fruits and condiments-- you customize to your taste buds and I definitely enjoy that. SERVICE Biggest opportunity here. I understand it is usually busy however, no need to be rude. The service is very slow and the waiters it is basically just trying to get through all the orders. No special attention, very slow service and no friendly customer service. DECOR/ AMBIANCE Very casual environment and enjoy the open space to it. OVERALL I tend to go here more for the convenience of location. That's pretty much it. Service needs some work and there isn't that wow factor of you must go because the açaí bowls are amazing. They are good but not excepcional.

The açaí smoothie came out first and was perfectly thick and sweetened just enough - it was delicious. The mushroom wrap was great as well. I'm not a big bread eater (for sandwiches) so I likely would have asked for it without a wrap had I thought ahead. However, the spinach wrap was good and a great seasoning to it. This place is a bit more on the pricey side (in line with other restaurants in the area) - my meal was about $13 USD which is a little less than what I would have paid for a comparable meal in the US. If you're not on a strict budget then I'd recommend a detox meal here!

Came to Dona Vitamina to check it out and it's awesome! Open decor, a garden in the back of the room, vertical garden, open kitchen, smiling service staff, magazine rack, truly felt like I was having breakfast somewhere around Rodrigo de Freitas Lake in Rio. Menu has a wide range from vitaminas (smoothies), wraps, sandwiches, pão de queijo, bread, cakes, the list goes on. Though it's a healthy place, so no flaky croissants stuffed with ham and cheese, chocolate, etc. Since I had a bikram class to attend, I picked a açaí bowl which probably could feed three people easily, sliced banana e a side of granola along. Ommmm...

I liked the sidewalk tables, I liked the fact it is open 24 hours. I liked that it had TV' showing football and a little store inside. That's where the liking stops. I have given this place numerous chances and always have a bad experience. The waiters range from detached lethargy to downright anitpathy towards the customers. We were asked to leave once while playing dominos outside *while having desert*. Not a group of drunks gambling, just a couple eating petit gateu and drinking espresso. Another time the had the same show on 6 different TV's, noone was watching any of them, and they staunchly refused to change the channel *to the copa confederacoes game*. They refuse to serve you half creme de manga and half acai, even if you offer to pay for the more expensive item. The forget the maionese every time. The salmon is served raw (no not the sushi) and the 3 real salad is just depressing. Their buffet uses store bottled salad dressing. AND IT'S NOT CHEAP! Aside from the personal affronts to my palate and person, the concept is just far too ambitious to ever work (coming from a former line chef as well). You can't serve Pizza, Sushi, Grill items, Salads, Pastries, Burgers, comida tipica, buffets, etc. ALL FROM THE SAME TINY KITCHEN 24/7. Bela Paulista can pull it off because it is a friekin' well-oiled machine...but these guys, no way. It's all sub-mediocre to downright nasty. Unless it is late at night, you are starving -- and are too drunk or tired to walk another few km's to Bela Paulista -- just do yourself a favor and SKIP this place. The somewhat charming ambience is spoiled by bad costly food and worse service. I don't blame the waiters mind you, as a former waiter myself I acctually sympathize with them as the look real, real unhappy and underpaid. But at the end of the day, this is consistently one of the worst places I have eaten in this lovely city full of GREAT restaurants!
