Johnny's Tavern in the Power & Light District is our absolute favorite place to watch the Chiefs games! The atmosphere is electric, and it's the perfect spot to cheer on the team. You have to try their food, it's top-notch. The sweet Asian boneless wings are incredible, and the fry combo is a must have. We also always get an order of their fried pickles, which are perfectly crispy and delicious. To top it all off, you can't leave without getting the ice cream with a warm brownie for dessert. It's the perfect way to end a great meal. They have a fantastic drink selection, great food, service and an unbeatable atmosphere, especially during football season. If you're looking for a fun and delicious place to watch the Chiefs, Johnny's Tavern is it!

The poor service here was our only negative experience on our entire vacation. The lady seemed to have already had a long night and did not seem pleased when my group entered the restaurant. My group's demeanor changed from fun and excitement to confrontational and adversarial once we interacted with the waitress. I tried to stay out of it and just asked for a separate check and put in an order of food and drinks. They were all good except for one that had a funny name and tasted like the cereal Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The food was even better. The cheese sticks and BBQ pizza were both excellent. Don't judge the cheese sticks by their looks, they are awesome....even when cold. As we continued to order drinks the waitress seemed more and more upset with my group. Finally my group had enough and started becoming unruly. I requested our two checks and a box for the awesome leftovers. Then I tried to usher my group out while trying not to forget my leftovers.

Definitely an after hours spot in KC with Power & Light! Had a craving for wings so this was a late night option.. I'm a dry rub gal and they only had one option. At first bite it's directly on the chicken skin but no flavor past that. As I said after hours.. past 12 midnight who's still serving a bite! Not the the best option! I will say the wait staff is pleasant and on their toes!

We were in search of food on a Sunday night and most places in P&L were closed at 8pm. Then my friend suggested going to Johnny's! Great call! They were pretty crowded with people watching the game and it was a seat yourself so I was worried that service may be slower but they surprised us. Some came over to get our drink orders fairly quickly and the food came out hot and delicious. The burgers loaded and a good size. I got the Johnny Wilson with seasoned fries and was completely stuffed when I left. I will definitely be back the next I'm in the neighborhood!

Decent place in the Power & Light District to catch a game, have a beer and a burger, or bar type food. They were out of fried pickles, but the food came out quick and hot. Typical bar and grill decor and ambiance with fairly good service when not busy.

    Where is the sauce?

Served me a pizza without sauce? I would've ordered cheese bread if that's what I wanted. the workers can also be some of the most unfriendly people you'll ever encounter

The service was good and the vibe was good. I enjoyed the beer but the food was just okay. Chicken wings were a bit dry and the salad was okay.

Their house wings were fantastic. Meaty, finished well and perfect amount of sauce. Good ranch too.

A small table opened up, so we all squeezed in and had a blast. You can order food from the Disco Burger outside from your phone or walk up to the truck as well. I was super surprised how much I liked the burger. I could compare it to a less greasy version of town topic. Delicious. Our waitress was awesome and we were all matching drinks, so we got some high life, mystery tall boys, and she loved it. The stone walls and disco ball combo was awesome and I hope to be back in to check out some cocktails as well.

All of that being stated, despite the heat, the Varsity Club patio is awesome. There are plenty of picnic tables, it's kid friendly (at least during dinner), and they have some great happy hour specials. I loved that even outside you get table service, the staff was SO kind even though we were just there for happy hour on the patio, and they offer water you can pour yourself near the door. I loved also that many of their cocktails come in a cute branded plastic cup that's better for outdoors, and was fun for my kiddo to enjoy her kids drink out of without me worrying about her breaking glass. I honestly can't wait to return once it cools down.

It was a little confusing at first getting everything set up and figuring out the controls, but once we got into it, it was a blast. The setup upstairs is really cool--it's somewhat separated, which helps you stay immersed, but there are still other arcade games up there so if you're waiting for your turn, you're not just standing around. One thing I really appreciated was the drink selection. I don't drink alcohol, and they had a TON of mocktail options, which honestly made the experience way better for me. It's not something every place puts effort into, so that stood out. The food was also surprisingly good, with plenty of options to choose from. Downstairs has more of a full bar vibe with additional games and more space to sit and eat (no VR down there), so it's nice to have both environments depending on what you're in the mood for. Overall, it's a great spot for groups, especially for birthdays or a night out where you want something a little different.
