Good neighborhood spot! It's not the fastest fast food (longer than a usual drive thru wait) but they have a lot of variety on their menu and the food is always good. Service is friendly and we have always had a good experience here. My favorites are the Oreo shake, sandwiches, and churro bites. My kids enjoy the hot dog and corn dog. read more

FALSE ADVERTISING I've stopped to eat here a couple of times and the food has been good and the service too! Today I was extremely disappointed. Part of my order included the daily special, chicken pot pie. I asked for mashed potatoes as my side and was told that it only comes with garlic bread. I thought I must have misread the menu on the website and completed my order. When I returned to my table I looked up the menu ( see photo) and saw that the chicken pot pie dinner should include vegetable, bread and a choice of: Mashed potatoes /w gravy * French fries * Onion rings * Fried zucchini * Fresh fruit * Cottage Cheese I brought it up to a different cashier and was told that they don't do that anymore. The owner echoed this response. I replied that this is what was advertised on their website and that they should honor it. They replied that the website "isn't good." Also that they are in the process of changing it. Again I tried to explain that this is what was advertised and would it be possible to add the mashed potatoes. They said yes, but they would charge me. I then proceeded to cancel my order and they provided a refund. This was very frustrating because although they did provide the refund, which they are legally obligated to, I was not reimbursed for the time it took to drive to their restaurant, the gas wasted, and the energy I spent entertaining my 2 year old twins (iykyk). In addition, the prices on the website are different then what they charge in person. I don't have a picture because I wasn't given my receipt back after the refund. read more

They offer a huge menu with tons of selections they also serve breakfast all day long They have daily specials and also have a drive thru The staff here is all friendly and they are always wiping down the tables and booths You go and order at the counter and then they call your number. Despite the drive thru it's not your typical fast food place. So don't be surprised if you have to wait a few minutes If you're lucky, come here when they have their pulled pork sandwich special which I believe is on Fridays Also, come in and bring some food donations! We ordered a patty melt, fries, and a country fried steak. When they brought up the bag. I asked for some ranch for the fries. When I got home I discovered they didn't put in the fries. I called to let them know and asked if they could give them to someone who looked nice. At that moment I looked over at my wife because she had this look of disgust and disappointment on her face. The lady on the phone said, " you're not coming back." At this point I said we would never be going back. She said, "Oh okay." Johns burgers has it all. Drive thru for when you are in a hurry or eat inside with a comfortable clean atmosphere. They also collect can goods for the Long Beach mission which is really nice to be able to help. I ordered the old world burger which came with a giant slice of fresh tomato grilled onions and a giant beef patty very generous portions with fat steak fries. Cannot finish it all. Super yummy. So we haven't been to John's in a few years and the last time it was for breakfast. We arrived at the counter and a gal greeted us with a resting bitch face....we asked for a moment to go over the menu and she sort of rolled her eyes and walked off, my husband said "a smile would be nice" another gal who was also standing near the register (in earshot) looked as if it was a bother to take our order. I understand your drive thru is packed and you've got customers inside as well but you should make EVERY patron feel welcome, it keeps us coming back! I have driven by both locations many times. Never thought to stop in until I saw that they have a special daily menu. I went twice yesterday, once for lunch once for dinner. For lunch, I had the Reuben sandwich which was the daily special. It was very good and I consider myself a Reuben sandwich connoisseur. I believe it was pastrami and there was lots of it. I had rice pudding that I brought home and ate later. When I was in the drive-through, I noticed they had meatloaf, but it wasn't ready yet. I went back for dinner and got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Comes with a piece of garlic bread. I also got a brownie. The meatloaf was moist and tasty. The mashed potatoes were real mashed potatoes, lumps and all, buttery and delicious. The vegetables were well prepared and quite a combination. I had enough for at least two meals. The meatloaf and brownie total was $21. You can't beat that with a stick. I will be going back often. I'm looking forward to trying the lasagna. read more

I hate to do this to such an iconic Long Beach spot. The service at the drive thru was friendly and fairly prompt. But for the letdown, my breakfast burrito with chorizo and bacon was possibly the worst breakfast burrito I've ever had. Maybe it was ordering a breakfast burrito for lunch? But it was bland. The ingredients were dry like they'd been sitting out. I felt like I was eating leftover ingredients cooked a day earlier. Nothing tasted fresh. Eggs were dry, bacon was burnt and flavorless, Chorizo no flavor. I didn't get much cheese but again, there was nothing that stood out. Nothing savory or juicy or fresh at all in the burrito. And I was hungry going in. The plus, it was a huge burrito so if you're just looking to fill your stomach with a massive bunch of nothing, then I guess go for it. Thank god I did get a side of salsa verde, that at least added some texture and moistness to the dry overcooked, bland burrito. If I go back I think I'll do the patty melt since it's only $7.50. I stopped in this afternoon on my way to Millikan to pick up the kiddos from school and had just enough time for a quick drive thru lunch. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and a medium Dr. Pepper for seventeen bucks. Sadly that isn't the worst I have laid lately. The service in the drive thru was friendly and quick. My subtraction of a star comes from the sandwich. Whole the meat was flavorful the bread was just entirely too much. If you stacked the bread and meat next to each other the bread would easily have been 50% more than the meat. This would not have been so bad if it was something other than a white roll type bread. The flavor just didn't go with the pastrami for me. Based on the service though, I will definitely be back to try some other menu items and will definitely update when I do. read more

First the manger was just sitting right in the middle of the place. He looked agitated. I order the turkey club. It came with fries. I knew it was going to be a problem when I had to add a lot of salt to both fries and sandwich. Then as I started to eat the manger was staring dead in my mouth very weird. After the first bite, I took that crap back to the cashier, and the manger had the nerve to be mad. A club sandwich should not require salt. the ketchup had a weird nasty taste like it was very old. This should probably be considered an "update" to my previous review, but either way I feel obligated to say something: THIS PLACE IS AMAZING in the best possible way. Today I went for lunch with my 90 year old mother, my wife, and our two teenagers - a pretty diverse group, and not real easy to please. Everybody was extremely happy with what they ordered - the only complaint was from my wife, saying afterwards that she had "eaten too much" but couldn't stop because it was so delicious! She had the "heart stopper" burger, which includes bacon and a fried egg. My son and I often split two plates so we can try more things, and the pastrami sandwich and Frisco burger were both GREAT. I should have ordered the Pastrami on grilled rye - personal preference - but the roll it was served on was still very fresh. My daughter ordered the pastrami as well, and she loved hers. Grandma got the Reuben, and is looking forward to finishing it for dinner (huge sandwich for an old lady). We also tried the fried zucchini - best I've had in many years. Great fries and onion rings as well. I think that this may have just become our new family joint for a quick bite. My only regret is that I didn't find it earlier...... I spoke briefly with the manager, and he was really nice - working hard, because of the lunch rush, but was clearly committed to providing great food and great service. read more

I ordered a bean and cheese burrito from here and after a couple VERY dry bites of beans, I decided to open up the burrito to see what's going on inside. Unfortunately, the refried beans inside were crumbling and dry. Fresh beans usually would be spilling out of a burrito if you ripped the tortilla. These beans were the consistency of 1 day old play dough :( It was basically inedible so I just ended up throwing the whole thing out. Besides that, the drive through service was fast and nice.
