Overpriced and unethical practices: Called JCI to get a quote on repair or replacement my Simplex 4006 fire panel. I was made aware from the Fire Service Company that's doing my system monitoring that the battery charging circuitry on the motherboard isn't working. I relayed this key information on my call to JCI. After I spoke with a local SA JCI representative (name omitted), I received a follow up email summarizing our call. The first bullet on the email stated: Below are the things I am working on. - Putting together a quote for test and inspect of your panel as well as a possible service agreement for any potential issues in the future. - I'm putting this together based upon one simplex 4800 panel, monitoring on a cell dialer with the city of Selma, and 3 possible smoke detectors. - I am also engaging with my technician on the issue with the main circuit board on the panel that won't allow for the recharging of the batteries properly. I will attempt to see if they have some insight or if they need to come and look at the panel for additional information. I never received a quote, but they sent out technician to look at my panel and then proceeded to send me a bill for $1,229.17. I shared a copy of my email with JCI credit and they insist that I authorized their service. I'm now receiving past due notices and still fighting the charges. I've contracted out with another Fire Protection Service company for the replacement of my panel at a cost that we less than 1/3 the price of a new panel from JCI. There are a lot of fire protection service companies in the greater San Antonio area, so take the time to look up alternate companies for your Fire Protection needs and you'll save a lot of money! read more
