I was a little overwhelmed and nervous a first time gun buyer and being a woman. Two guys Tim and Alex were very kind and took the time to explain how bigger calibers will make the gun more 'snappy' for me and I should stick to a smaller caliber like 380 or 9mm to get comfortable first. I am very petite. They even told me I should go to the range first to rent and practice different calibers to be sure before buying. They were willing to to postpone or even lose the sale for my welfare. I was so impressed. I bought a great little Sig Sauer P365. I love shooting it and hope to be back soon to buy something bigger for home protection. read more

Okish prices, not in the best location but big selection of guns & ammo, good customer service

I have not been to many gun shops in general, only a few between Miami and Houston. However, the service at this place is just amazing. The staff, every single one of them who helped me out, were very patient with my questions. On the day I was supposed to pick up a firearm, I noticed a tiny defect, most likely from factory testing, that I haven't noticed before, and my OCD set in, making me want to switch it out to another. The staff helped me exchange the firearm without question and did it swiftly without any additional pay. Remember pick-up and wait time for firearms in Florida at the time this review was written, is 5 business days, excluding holidays, day of purchase, and weekends. I saw some reviews blaming the store for pick-up issues, but it's just the law. They also charge the best rate for FFL transfers, so if you buy firearms online, this is the best place to send it to. They've picked up the phone and answered my millions of questions with patience every time. Definitely a great place to do business! They even sell used guns for you if you have any. read more

I came into Johnson Firearms to pick up my first ever firearm. I had it sent to them from an online order and paid a $25 transfer fee (cheapest in the area). I picked it up after a 5 day wait period as is law in Miami Dade if you do not have a CCW license. Background check cleared in less than 10 minutes and I was able to leave with my new pistol right away. The service is impeccable. I was helped by Jordi who is just the nicest guy. He took the time to walk me through how to field strip my firearm, how to maintain it, and answered all the questions I had around safety. He made my first firearm sale experience so comfortable and pleasant. He helped recommend ammo, we spoke about CC, and he showed me different kinds of pistols. Great selection and value guns, but pickup sure was an issue, and I bet I'm not the only one this has happened to. Employee tells me at purchase I should come in the following Friday, which would be today. I go in, he doesn't even remember that he checked me out and makes some joke about falling asleep while he was helping me out. His boss says if I came in last Friday, I must pick up Saturday. I question the employee because I know for a fact that he told me to come today, and he plays it off to avoid the heat, telling me there was no way he would say to come in today (a lie). Unfortunate situation and I hope they provide more clarity at purchase to avoid looking unprofessional in the future. read more
