Most places want you to have real experience. However, one bartender suggested I do it to get the feel for pouring drinks & learn the basics. He also mentioned they do job placement. Although they didn't help me find a bar job, they provided a long list of places that may be hiring. I loved my experience at bar school! The program is two weeks long. You attend Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 5 or 6 to 9:30 p.m. Jack is a pretty cool instructor, and he knows his stuff. They have 14 stations. I was happy to be part of the afternoon class. It was small, and I still keep in touch with half of my classmates. I started applying for bar jobs the following week after receiving my letter of recommendation & certificate. I landed my 1st bartending job a month later. I also started a mobile bartending business & I have my first gig booked.

For one; they have an inconsistent firing schedule and a lack of visibility to it at times... additionally, its only one type of firing Cone 5/6.. and the only expertise really available for you here as a beginner is handbuilding either via slab or other Coil/Pinch. There is one wheel, but wheel throwing classes are not available. Additionally, people tend to leave the tools in the sink all the time.... or leave things out...... The community is fine. Wouldn't say there's as much expertise sharing as in other communities; this is a great mostly beginner/intermediate level community. For hand building being the main thing this place has to offer I believe it needs more items that compliment hand building such as, more foam in different shapes, Weight scales, sand paper to level the bottom of an item, drimmels, etc. a lot of items that compliment hand building are missing here...

One is set up to give middle school students tips on budgeting, with real life personas, jobs, salaries, and monthly expenses. This is where I had the opportunity to help guide 8th grade students through their budget process. I walked briefly into the other room, which seems to be set up as a mock town with a Chick Fil A, United Airlines, Schlumberger, etc. From my one day working there, I'd highly recommend their programs for any organization looking to help youth learn about finances.
