This is a nice local burger place! I like the interior, which was bright and airy. I loved the kids paintings as decor! I went downstairs to use the bathroom and that was a weird journey, but the bathroom itself was clean. I ordered a Joia burger (single patty) and the cauliflower salad. The cauliflower salad was a cold cauliflower dish that was lacking something for me. The burger was absolutely fantastic. The bun was lightly toasted and perfect. The toppings on the burger were delicious! And the burger itself was a perfectly cooked smash burger. My only complaint was that for the cost I didn't think it was a ton of food- but hey, welcome to 2026! I had a great meal here.
I get the hype! I had the double patty wagyu burger and it was absolutely perfect and delicious. I can't say a bad thing about it. I also had the Joia fries and loved the flavor of the topping with the salty fries. I will be back!

The lettuce, tomato, and pickle slaw they put on their burgers and deluxe fries is perfect -- everything tastes wonderfully fresh, and the burgers are just delicious. They also offer a solid variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, which was a nice surprise. The ube soft serve was a unique and fun way to end the meal. The one downside: the Mt. Pleasant location we visited appeared to be having trouble with its ventilation system -- it was very smoky inside.
I have been to Joia Burger twice in the past month and it is truly that good. Super small shop with seating for about 8-10 so I recommend either taking it to go or bringing it to the Mt Pleasant plaza across the street! It's a really simple smashburger with minimal toppings - could def go for some more shredded lettuce and tomato but the sauce/pickle combo is classic. The fries are also solid! Dip in the ube soft serve for a great salty/sweet hit. My only complaint is the double burger is literally twice the price of the single which feels a little excessive. Service has been fairly quick for me despite long lines!
Uhhh that Ube soft serve with toasted coconut will definitely have me coming back again and again. It's so good! I also got an order of fries and a double burger to go. Both were really solid and I see what the hype is all about!!
Tried the single patty burger. It's a solid burger cooked with smashed patties so you get a crispy edge. The sauce was a stand out very flavorful but a touch salty. The bun was solid - fluffy and held up nicely. The place was tiny with a ~8-10 spots to sit. Definitely not a hang out / chit chat with your friends kind of spot. Order. Eat. Get out. No frills.
This is a great burger in the Mount Pleasant area. You can immediately be assured of why it's so popular when you take that first bite. Service was very good, staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed my burger and ended up sitting inside. They have a few seats if you're lucky to go when it's not so busy. I got the double patty, it was fine but I almost wish I had gotten the third. It is a smaller burger so if you go hungry, you'll want that triple patty or maybe even two smaller burgers. Fries were fantastic. They also have a variety of dipping sauces available for an upcharge. Super solid all around, I will for sure be returning soon!

It was a smaller joint than I thought, but some seats freed up at the counter inside so we were able to dine in. We all ordered a single party burger, while they got a side of fries. I ordered my burger without tomatoes and I was glad they were able to oblige. The burger exceeded my expectations and the taste exceeded the sum of its parts. I also had some of the fries and those were great. The serving is fairly big though so I'd suggest splitting an order. I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area.
I have been looking for the perfect Ube soft serve in DC and I got so emotional when I finally found it. Many other places that have Ube soft serve add coconut, but Joia Burger lets the Ube shine. The burger looked so delicious I forgot to take a photo because I essentially swallowed it whole. The service was amazing and I will be back. Soon.
The food was so good I forgot to take a picture. I ordered the Wagyu burger (single patty) with joia sauce and fries with aioli sauce. Super tasty! I'll come back for the ube soft serve!

I love Joia. These are some of the best wagyu smash burgers I've ever had. They even have a kids meal which made it even better!! Don't forget to grab the ube soft serve. Give this place a try if you want a great burger from a great restaurant!!
Let's deconstruct the single patty burger. Overall, I loved it. The single patty along with the regular fries was filling enough for me. The two buns were fluffy. The wagyu beef was tasty and eating the single patty was enough for me to get a sense of the flavor. The distinctive part of the burger - the diced tomato, onion, lettuce, and pickle combined together in special sauce - was good, if you're a big into sauce. In my burger, the mixture was a little hard to hold it all in between the buns, so some of it fell into the wrapper. That's not horrible; just scoop it up with the fries, which were average tasting and come with ketchup. Extra charge for their other sauces. I visited on their one-year anniversary, so it was a very happy day for Joia and their staff. Bar stool seating partially lines the walls of the restaurant, so it's fine to eat inside if it's yourself and maybe up to two friends. Looking forward to coming back for the ube soft serve.

One of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. If a burger can melt in your mouth, this one did. Inside is quaint, and there are a few tables outside as well. The menu is limited, which tells me they really specialize in what they do. I got a single patty with Joia toppings without onions and split fries with a friend. The truffle aioli for the fries was a nice add-on. Service was friendly and fast. Go get yourself a Joia burger! You'll be so happy you did! read more
Saw this place on instagram and I love a good burger. Came here and was surprised at the expensive prices. $17 for double wagyu burger and $9 for a single. $5 for fries. Wagyu beef I was hoping to notice a significant difference and I was sure that the fries would be great. Boy was I wrong. The patty is flat and you can barely taste it over here sauce that is over the burger with the chopped tomato and onion. It's a good thing I got a double or I wouldn't have noticed any meat on the burger. The fries were pitiful. Tasteless, no salt and a super waste of $5. The only positive is that the food was ready in about 5 minutes or less so the service was good. read more

In the heat of D.C. summer, the ube soft serve from Joia is the perfect dessert. It's smooth and more than enough food for $6. I would recommend getting extra napkins because the soft serve overtakes the side of the cup it's served in. read more
I just found my favorite burger in DC! I can't recommend this place highly enough. The Joia sauce on the burger and fries is heavenly. And the ube soft serve is the perfect end to the meal. Just make sure you grab LOTS of napkins... these burgers are messy! I couldn't recommend this place more if I tried! read more
Cannot recommend Joia burger enough! The staff is the kindest and has such attention to detail. The food is high quality, reasonably priced and very tasty. I got the single wagyu smash which was an excellent burger with well proportioned toppings. The ube soft serve is a must order - so creamy and full of sweet ube flavor! The toasted coconut and sprinkles are the cherry on top too. The menu is small but they execute everything really well. Definitely check them out! read more
I was a fan of Purple Patch so it was cool to here they do burgers for a good flavor change for the palate. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking or neighborhood parking. It can get packed so I would recommend to ride share, carpool, or do public transportation. Seating: Seating inside, seating outside! Very intimate. Feels: You're in the Mt Pleasant area of things in DC, so a little grit and grind of things. The spot itself seems pretty family friendly. You'll see a lot of children art posted and across is a park. There's a tv to watch the news and chill too! Great place for friends and family. FOOD: Double Patty Smashed Burger (Recommend) You do have the choice of a single or triple. I lowkey wish I got a triple but this did it well. The burger was flavorful and caramelized with nice crispy edges, bun was comforting, and cheesiness, but though people say the tangy secret sauce is great, that salsa takes it to another level for me. Fries (Recommend) Whether you get a burger or not, this is a delight. Crunchy, soft on the inside, and savory. Ube Soft Serve (Recommend) Smooooth. Creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet. Good way to end a meal. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Friendly people, quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Pleasant flavors, simple choices, and a pleasant ambiance. Service: Customer Service is always friendly when I call. Food: OMG SO GOOD!!!! Fries with the Joia Toppings 10/10. The Burger is 9/10. My bestie brought me here when I told him I wanted a burger. This place is small inside with some seating and has an outdoor seating area too. It's very cute inside - they have paper and crayons for the kids and it's decorated with their work. Adorable! Burger was delicious! You can have multiple patties, but I got one. Fries were good, next time I'd get the sauces on the side. And the Ube ice cream with coconut on top was amazing! Smooth and creamy! Check them out! read more

We got 2 double cheeseburgers regular & one plain, one regular fry and one Joia fry. I will 100% be back. I had it yesterday & am still thinking about it. The place is small & only has about 15 benches. The workers were nice. read more

Great food! Got a double wagyu burger with fries and truffle mayo. Delicious. Food came very quick. Must try and I will definitely be back for more! Staff were polite, eating area was clean, played great music. Im not hard to please. Only thing that's missing is a speakeasy in the back! read more

Right next to popular La Tejana comes a small burger joint from the woman behind nearby Purple Patch, a top-rated Filipino restaurant. Located in the old Taqueria Nacional space, it's open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. The menu is small, but mighty. Their specialty is the smash burger made with wagyu beef patties, cheese, a Filipino slaw, and a secret sauce. Burgers come with one, two, or three patties. There's a vegetarian option and fries, ube soft serve, and a $10 kids box on the menu too. To drink, they have canned beer, water, soda, and a few other options. For $9, I ordered the single patty smash burger and it came out within three minutes. It was very tasty- kind of like a more fancy In and Out burger. It's a small space, but there's seating along the window and wall and an outdoor space. There's also an area with a jug of water with cups. read more
Tried Joia yesterday during my break. It's a very colorful and seemingly inviting restaurant. Upon entering, there are paintings all over the walls of children's artwork, so it's very family friendly which is nice as kids can draw while they eat and give their parents a break. They have limited toppings to choose from, and I think I ended up getting everything on my burger including the Joia topping which is like a thousand island mix with some additional veggies. The burger was decent although I had some stomach upset after eating it. I don't usually eat burgers, so maybe that's why. I had a side of fries, and those were crisp and fresh. Lastly, I had their strawberry lemonade, but it tasted more like a soda which was odd. I would recommend for others, but maybe it's just not for me. ETA: One hack I figured out was to dip my fries into the Joia sauce from my burger to create the effect of Joia fries! read more
Definitely lived up to the hype one of the best burgers in DC. I got a double patty wagu burger with fries and ube soft serve. The burger was super flavorful and perfectly cooked. It had a great crust but was tender and juicy. The sauce added a nice flavor profile with some richness to balance the savory flavors from the burger. Service is very nice and friendly. Inside is nice and clean. Outside patio is great way to enjoy this place. Fries were well seasoned and crunchy. Had a a great taste to them. Comes with ketchup but you can pay for some different sauces for a dollar. The ube soft serve was delicious rich flavor sweet and rich. Has a similar taste to sweet potato pie. It pairs very well with the toasted coconut. You get a choice of sprinkles or toasted coconut. Definitely the perfect way to end a great meal. Overall a great experience and I will be back. read more
