One of my friends was out here at the same time, and she shared a JOJA burger last time and vowed to get her own the next time. She was staying near the Beachwalk and we walked over to say "hi" but let them know we'd see them on Saturday. At a little past 8 am at the Kakaako Farmer's Market, the line was already at the street, so I got in line and waited for my friends. The line actually moved better than in the past. So we kept getting closer. Since I had worked out in the morning, I was starving and got the original with an extra patty and bacon. Soooooooo good! The owners are some of the nicest people on the island and run a well oiled machine. If you really want one, I do suggest you go early. The saddest feeling is seeing the "sold out" sign. Mahalo JOJA! My mom loves going to farmer markets and I decided to take her to Kaka'ako Farmers Market. As we were walking around exploring, Joja had a huge line and you can smell how delicious the food is. When there is a huge line you get in because it can't be that bad right? You are able to see the staff making the burgers and also a bunch of foodies record and take photos of the action. Well, I'm happy to announce that it was well worth the wait! I loved that they have an area where they allow you to borrow an umbrella while you wait in line. This is very sweet and thoughtful if you ask me. Cause it was pretty sunny when I went and I can definitely see random rain occurring where these will also come in handy. Prices are a bit pricey but it was very worth every darn penny. I was so full after my burger and I shared the fries but it was more than enough to share. Ordered: Hawaii's Truffle Smashburger $19 - Double smash with double American cheese. Truffle fries $7 Definitely 2 thumbs up from this foodie Yelper. If you are a local or a tourist like me, this is a must visit and try! You won't regret it. Also, they were nice enough to still modify my burger order as I did not want any onions. If I was to come back to Hawaii anytime soon, I would come back for another meal! Tips: *There are tables super close by that you can sit and eat your food. *For extra cost you can add extra items like bacon, patty, sauce, pickled jalapeno, etc. *They have an IG page (I know this because I was looking at it while I was in line) *Credit card accepted

Love them! This past Saturday made my 3rd visit to their grill. Husband and I had to run errands in Town and I told him, he better get his stomach ready at 7am b/c we're getting Smashburgers! Sometimes I feel like he doesn't understand my logic until we arrived and as always, there's a fat line wrapped almost around the block with people eager to try their burgers. I had failed to mention that just because we get there at 7, doesn't mean we're eating 7.. in fact, we ate almost at 8:30 lol He looked irritated since it was his first try, I was happy to share the experience with him. Yes, go early! it's not an exaggeration.. sometimes people will wait at 6:30/6:45, the Market isn't even open yet. A single burger is $19 and I always suggest adding an extra patty to taste the meat. The truffle sauce is amazing! NO, it's not Mayo and it does pair well with the Cheese and onions. People complain bc Unko is the only person in charge of smashing the patties and Sis is working the payments and prepping everything else. They normally do have 1 or 2 other workers talking care of fries, assembly, etc but it's still a small operation cranking out big orders. Husband? Loved it. He's normally a picky/small eater but he did finish it before I could keep the burger from burning my mouth. It is a treat.. I wish I could spoil myself more but as great as it is, it's also really heavy you will be full for awhile and your arteries may need hot tea afterwards. My suggestion is to definitely hit them up at Kakaako instead of Waikele. Personally Kakaako has better line control and it's a bigger area to wait for your order. Waikele is a little more clustered and crowded. They accept cash and card but if you pay cash, you save a little but skipping out on the tax :)

Worth the hype. Went to their food stall at the Monday night market in Waikiki. Went close to opening at 3:45ish, and waited for about 30-40 minutes for the burger. So bomb. Burger and onions were juicy. Bun was perfectly toasted, and the truffle sauce wasn't overpowering. One of the best burgers I've had. Will be back.

Amazing truffle smash burger at the Kakaako farmers market. Note that there's one line for ordering and another line for pick up - make sure you're not wasting your time! I also liked their kine fries (chili cheese fries with truffle sauce). Unk on the grill is also really nice and you can tell he loves what he does. Lastly, the items are customizable. If you don't like onions, feel free to exclude them but note that the burgers are smashed in batches and take time to cook. Highly recommend going early - who doesn't like burgers for breakfast?!

Finally got to try their burgers. They had a special event in Waikiki on a Monday and so glad I got to try it without any lines! Final verdict: burger was delicious, a good smash burger. It wasn't dry and it's got a good char. The truffle sauce was kinda weak and runny. It's a mess to eat but nonetheless it went really well with the burger. The patty could have more beef flavor and could use a tad bit more salt. Not saying it wasn't good but for $19 I've had better. I would definitely not stand in line for this. I'm just glad I got to try it without waiting otherwise I would be so disappointed. Worth a try? Maybe if there's no wait. Worth waiting for more than 15 mins? Probably not.

At last, I finally got to try the infamous smash burger from JoJa! We went to the farmers market on Saturday morning and I waited in line for about an hour. It was worth every penny of that $20. Jason, the owner and cook, is piling up freshly chopped onions on top of each patty and then smashes it down on the grill. He then places cheese and lets the buns toast golden brown. His team works as a perfect unit, refilling the station with whatever is needed and then placing the buns onto each to-go box. One by one, they're squeezing this creamy white truffle mayo sauce into each burger. It's served with this smoky and spicy bbq mayo sauce which goes perfectly with the burger. It's hands down, THE BEST burger I've had up to date. It's gooey, meaty, and the grilled onions is phenomenal. Not sure what's in the seasoning but this smash burger has its own lane. As a matter of fact, I came on Saturday AND Monday at the night market and bought 3! That's how good these are. The lines build early and continue to stay long for the duration of almost 4-5 hrs! JoJa has a cult following which is key. What's also impressive, is that Jason is still able to have small talk and take random photos with people while he's sweating and cooking! That's authentic with a real Aloha spirit. I told him to open up shop in The Bay Area! Not sure they ever will but man, I can already see his shop making insane noise in northern Cali. We'll definitely be back again!

I am thoroughly impressed with every aspect of JOJA's presentation, product, and production. The team operates like a well-oiled machine, efficiently delivering orders to numerous eager customers. During our stay across the street from their Waikiki farmers market setup, we had the opportunity to observe the team's seamless breakdown and setup process - it was truly a sight to behold. Having given up red meat some time ago, I now indulge in beef just once a year, specifically in the form of a smash burger. I am delighted to make JOJA my annual indulgence. However, if I could suggest one minor adjustment, it would be to offer the burger without the truffle sauce, as I find it slightly overpowering. BB

If you know what's good, you won't mind the waiting... Wait to place an order and wait for your order, total typical wait time is no less than an hour. Once you've placed your order, you're in there! And all you can think of is how grateful you should feel that they didn't sell out. Small staff, but they manage well, helping hundreds of hungry customers watching their juicy hamburger patties being freshly grilled, talk about torture smelling those delicious burgers and watching them making orders. The buns are grilled too, buttery and soft, generous with the special sauces, they do not skimp. Each burger treated equally lol. So worth it. Guarantee! You're missing out if you don't try one.

Not your typical smash burger and for all the good reasons! I would say it has more of a smokier taste compared to other smash burgers and slightly thicker which is great if you love loads of meat. Like others, the line is very long however the system is pretty efficient. They also have complimentary umbrellas for you to use so the only thing getting cooked is your burgers and not you! Small staff and it looks family owned and they're all so sweet. Btw, you can order fries with your burgers and they have many different kinds to choose from. Burger is huge and filling so keep that in mind and make sure you eat it fresh.

My friends took my dad and me to the Kakaako market and told us we MUST try out Joja's smashed burgers. I was a bit hesitant after seeing the long line and was afraid it may be an overly hyped spot... however after one bite, I was blown away by how saucy, meaty, AND juicy the burger was! Definitely a worth-it spot to try out! Do be aware that this is a "wet" burger, you will make a great mess but it will be worth it! I loved the white truffle sauce, the double patties, and the brioche buns; everything paired so well together and I can't wait to come back to Hawaii again to eat this. It'll always be on my mind until next time!

You can get a smash burger anywhere but are we really gonna pick on people for eating food that they want? We know that Hawaii has good food and case in point is this burger! Keep the menu simple and the food was delicious! Hot, fresh, and worth the visit! Truffle, multi patties, and lots of onions? Yes please!!! Also you can burn off the breakfast but visiting all the local vendors around the market. Seems like a win-win to me. Get there early or else you'll wait around the building! We got to the line at around 730/740am, not sure time of order, but we got our food (1 burger & fries) at 815am. ((Checked the time stamps on photos))

I've always wanted to try this place and was excited to see that they were at the Kaka'ako farmer's market when we went! We got there about 8:30 am so the line wasn't too long and we waited about 30 minutes to get to the front and place our order. We ordered the Oklahoma truffle smash burgers and truffle fries. I think this has to be one of the best burgers on the island! So flavorful and juicy and love how there's a lot of onions and sauce. The truffle fries had a nice flavor as well and were crispy. This meal was definitely a treat! If you want to check them out at the Kaka'ako farmer's market then it's best to come right when they open to avoid waiting for more than an hour in line.

Amazing truffle poke! As crazy as it sounds, truffle?! But yes a must try. The dressing is a perfect sweet acidic combo that marries perfectly with the fresh cut poke. It just melts in your mouth delish. The pasta is freshly made daily and absorbs the sauce wonderfully. A must try. read more

I get burger cravings all the time and luckily I live next to the kakaako farmers market. I suggest that you get to the market early because the lines do get pretty long. The burgers are enormous! It comes with two patties and definitely filling! I can easily say that they have the juiciest and most tasty smash burgers on island. Look for the buff bald guy smashing it up and you'll know you're at the right place! read more

Wow, this was amazing food. It's primarily pasta dishes but there are other dishes as well as breakfast entrees when the food truck is there in the AM. I was at the Kailua farmers market and it was about 10am but I opted for lunch food. I ordered the pasta bolognese and the dirty rice. Both were excellent and the portions were generous. Their dirty rice is somewhat different than the traditional Louisiana creole dish but non the less delicious. It contained scampi, big chunks of sausage, and lots of mushrooms along with their special seasonings. My hubby spent lots of time in the south and knows dirty rice. He loved this version. We also really enjoyed the bolognese with the big rigatoni pasta. We had leftovers that lasted another 1.5 meals. Thanks, we will return and want to try other dishes. read more

We were excited to try this new truck, great location on Cooke and Kapiolani and the staff were friendly. But the food itself was disappointing. The cacio e pepe was pretty bland and the Caesar salad was just chopped romaine, a few shreds of parm and no dressing. Definitely not worth the $17 it cost. read more

Food influencers put so much hype around this. My family and i tried it for the first time when they were at Wai Kai in Ewa. Waited in line for over an hour. Then waited another hour and a half for the order to be done. Would i get it again? Maybe. I feel like they just put the ground beef on there and not mix it with anything else. Also a lot of salt on top of it while it cooks... what makes the burger is the truffle sauce , which is amazing. But that's what gives it its flavor. Dissapointed in the animal fries. The chili wasnt great at all. If they made their burger patties different i would give it another go. Their workers are hard working though and friendly!! read more

Finally got to try JoJa at the Kaiser open market tonight. First of all, Jocelyn is the bomb!! She's so sweet, and she overhead me on the phone that I'd forgotten my mask and she generously gave me one of hers. Thank you Jocelyn!! Back to the food. I went with high expectations and it didn't disappoint. Got the tagliatelle Bolognese and the special short ribs lasagna. Large portions, great taste!! Will definitely be back next week. Will also have to venture out to Kailua to try some dishes only avail there. read more

Ran into this truck at the Kaka'ako farmers market on our first weekend on vacation and came back to this truck 3 times the 2 weeks we were there! Everything looks so good we kept gravitating back to try the other dishes we missed out on the last. Their Poke definitely is a refreshing twist versus everywhere else that seems to be prepared the same way. We had a place we always ate at for our first meal when in Hawaii, but this truck is the new spot for our first meal when visiting. read more

Happened to stumble across JOJA at the Waikele what the truck this past Friday. The line was long but not too long so we decided WtH might as well try it. I actually have never heard of this place but of course since the line was long we had to try it. Overall, yes pretty good. I honestly don't get the whole smashburger concept so I can't say I'm the best person for this but while it was good and tasty, I wouldn't wait in line for an hour and then wait another 30 minutes for the burger again. Perhaps if the wait was shorter like 10 minutes and I was in the mood for a burger I would but this wait time is not worth it. I'd say Kua'Aina is still better but I know it's not the same thing. Now with that being said, I did find the truffle a little over whelming and I do like truffle. I found the fries with all the toppings extremely rich as well so it made for. A very heavy, unhealthy feeling after, but again our fault for going overboard (LOL). I do have to give this business credit however, because they work hard, and as fast as they can with as much efficiency as they can and they are still friendly and appreciative of business so I appreciate that. I would recommend people try at least once so they can decide for themselves. read more

I saw this truck at the farmers market with a good amount of people in line. Service was fast and friendly. Everything on the menu looked good we decided to go with the truffle sashimi and mushroom gnocchi. Both dishes were really good. The sashimi was fresh and the flavor was excellent. The mushroom gnocchi was also delicious and it came with bread so you could eat it with the leftover sauce. I definitely will come back here anytime I visit Hawaii. read more

We didn't get to even try the burgers. My family waited for 2 hours and when we told the lady that our number is 20 and they're calling in the 40's; She kept explaining to us that we have to wait longer and that we're at the end. Keep in mind that we only ordered five burgers for my family. They kept skipping our number and serving smaller orders. When we finally asked about our order after two hours we were told to wait more because we're at the bottom of the pile (of receipts). Sorry, I'm understanding if they skip us because we weren't there to pick it up or waiting long if it's really busy, but to skip us and keep skipping us without reason, that's a big no. If I could give this place no stars I would. read more

Caught Joja at the Kaiser Highschool open market. Ordered the baked salmon, calamari and kim chee, bacon pasta. Everything was delicious! Salmon was cooked perfectly and tempura broccoli was yummy! Kim chee bacon pasta was flavorful and a big portion. Calamari was tender and crispy! Don't miss out, quality food, unique item combos, absolutely delicious!! Mahalo! read more

Tried out this food truck at a farmers market and turned out this was the best food truck I've ever had. Food was far beyond what I expected. I ordered a shrimp pasta that can be noted as one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The texture of the noodles were delicious; probably due to it being made from scratch. The sauce was very flavorful and the shrimp plump and juicy. Too bad I don't live in the area, as I would incorporate this food into my weekly regiment. Only negative I can say is I did not have a chance to try the other items on the menu. Until next time. read more

i make a lot of pasta dishes. i cook a lot and i have spoiled my family with my noodle wizarding ways. but i cannot do what JOJA does -- perfect pasta, unique sauces, flavor combinations. and i have never patronized a local eating establishment that is more consistently ono. prices are actually good considering i can make one order of pasta stretch to 3-4 meals by adding a salad or side vegetable. read more

I had heard about JoJa and wanted to try it out while visiting the island from SF. The food did not disappoint as it is levels up from a typical food truck (think more gourmet than common fare). They had a unique approach to their ahi poke with avocado an infusion of truffle. I've never experienced that combination of flavors and it was delicious! I also had a tempura shrimp dish with a Siracha-based sauce which was also outstanding. Overall, the food quality and flavor profiles are distinctive. I also love that JoJa is locally owned and operated by a husband and wife team who clearly have a lot of passion for what they do. I would highly recommend checking out JoJa if you haven't already! read more

I started following Joja on Instagram recently. All of their photos of their food looks sooo good. I was off of work today so I decided to check them out after I finish my safety check. They are parked on Cooke St/ Kapiolani Blvd. I was afraid there would be no parking, but fortunately 3 metered stall were open on the street, yay me! I went to order my special of the day, which was Triple Mushroom Cream with Fresh Potato Gnocchi drizzled with Balsamic Reduction. I got my order and went to my car. I was so hungry as it was already 2:30pm. Perfectly hot and sooo delicious! The food here is delicious! Their buttermilk calamari is THE BEST I have ever eaten. Their pastas are so tasty and cooked to perfection. I love the bolognese and my husband always gets the kimchee bacon pasta. The portions are huge and I often end up eating it for dinner and lunch. We eat here at least every other week and sometimes weekly! The owners are so nice and really care about their customers. Order online early or they may run out. Yes! They are that busy! read more

I stumbled upon JOJA's food truck when I was off one day running errands. I quickly browsed at their menu, and with a few recommendations from them, I decided on the truffle ahi poke and the bang bang pasta. I know what you're thinking- who the h*** would order fresh poke from a food truck that specializes in fresh pasta?! Well, i guess I was in the mood for poke and they did NOT disappoint. Tried the kimchi pasta at Imperial and it was amazing! Ordered at farmers market with different items and sadly some were bland. Bang bang, arancini, truffle poke were great. BUT the Gorgonzola chicken had no caramelized onion etc on top, and north shore shrimp had no garnishes/sauces(??) Hopefully it was just a busy oversight. read more

My daughters recommended Joja's wagon because they have gone to this food truck prior. We ordered the Northshore, tempura broccoli, cheesesteak furikake fries and the truffle poki. I tried them all & I definitely rate Joja's a 10+!!!! Everything was ABSOLUTELY booming w/ awesome ingredients & so tasty. This is what I call the BEST ONOLICIOUS food ever!!!! It's not only the ingredients that makes the food so delicious but adding in their heart & soul cooking each entre IS TRULY AMAZING!!!! It had good flavor, but it was pretty messy, and honestly, I couldn't really tell much of a difference from regular beef. I'm not sure the "wagyu" aspect added much for me personally. I'm usually a very patient person, but this experience left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I can only imagine how long the dine-in customers were waiting. I'm glad I had the chance to try it, but I'm not sure if I'd come back.

Just got an opportunity to try this place at the food truck event at Pearl Country Club. SO HOW WAS IT? Personally, I prefer a more lacy smashed burger patty but this is a very solid burger. Looking at past pictures on Yelp, I notice the patties were slightly lacier with the crispy edges. Not too sure if my particular burger wasn't smashed enough, or maybe some people in the past complained about not having thicker beef? Oh well, if so, gotta cater to your customers I guess. The truffle sauce is the star of the show. Not too strong but still apparent in flavor. The fries are also great. I would say it's in the top 2 best fries from all of the best burger joints in Hawaii. The taste can be described as a way better version of Wendy's fries. Crispy as well, not too sure why some reviewers are complaining about that. Tips: COME EARLY. The line and wait can be long. read more

JoJA IS AMAZING a bucket list event!!! I was there in April and the 2 most memorable things were JoJA and The mix bowl at Alicia's Market!! JoJA is a taste like nothing else!! I can't try to describe the sauce that would be an insult! YOU HAVE TO TRY JOJA!!! before you plan the trip double check their schedule PLAN YOUR ITINERARY... don't sleep on em!!!!!! I will be back in 2 weeks and my trip was PLANNED AROUND a JOJA smash burger!!! At this point they are WORLD WIDE as they have been featured in the Japan on board flight magazine and a Japanese channel so... cross your fingers GOOD LUCK!!!! Can't wait to see Auntie & Unk again!! Excellent, high end food!! The food is delicious and you can taste the difference in the quality of the ingredients and the creativity of the recipes The pasta is fresh made and the burrata sandwich is mind blowing, especially with the green chili water sauce. Definitely recommend getting an extra side of the green chili water sauce - it's so bright and flavorful, I couldn't get enough Really recommend this place, it's an unexpected culinary experience you don't want to miss read more

Best food truck food I've had in a while. The food was fresh and the noodles were delicious. The food was made to order and the plates were delicious. My kids really enjoyed their kimchi noodles and the shrimp. Their truck was also very clean and professional. The cashier was super nice and helpful.
