Andok’s - Fried chicken for a rainy day... good

My fiance saw it, recommended it, and we ran to keep from getting wet from the rain. We didn't have many choices in the immediate vicinity without getting drenched. It's mainly a fried chicken chain. You can order some other dishes here but they appear to very much be the fast food spin on those dishes. I saw Andok's all over the place in Angeles and Manila. I'm surprised that chicken chains are around because in the land of Jolibee... it has to be hard to compete. I saw that you could get a half chicken for around 200 php(4 usd). Sign me up! I'm used to eating half chickens in America that are 10+ dollars. This was one of the places I received some looks. It seemed to be all local Filipinos in here, Filipino tourists, and a couple of Korean families. I guess with ALL of the tasty restaurant options on the island, chicken Andok's is one of the last places you plan to see an American pigging out on chicken. lol. The chicken wasn't terrible but it was dry. It was cheap enough that I can't complain but it didn't leave an impression on me compared to other chicken dishes I had around the country. I doubt I'll go back to any of the Andok's but it did do its job of allowing us to eat while waiting for the rain to pass.

What gives when one takes a short cut and ends up sick to the stomach with the 'food?'…read more We seldom do any fast food in any country because the quality hasn't improved, and the lower one falls in terms of country and culture, the worse it gets. One hungry morning, my wife and I chanced Jollibee after many years of skirting it and all of the others because nutritional quality and the high intake of fats, cheap flours, sugars and other questionable ingredients that's potentially dangerous for one's health. I ordered their relatively harmless hotcakes, and they were okay. Of course their 'syrup' is high fructose junk, and the flour cheap and likely close to nutritionless, but one day out of 1000 is I guess kind of, well, okay? My wife ordered their hamburger steak with rice that came with a 'free' drink. She chose pineapple that is powdered whatever and ate most of it. The rice was okay, but she got sick on the 'meat' or on the fake fruit drink, or on both. Either way, she felt like vomiting much of the day, and had to put up with an ill feeling at work. What a drag! I don't know what to add, but if you get this meal, feed it to the dog first to test it for salmonella and whatever else. And don't get those powdered drinks that pose as juice. Ah, but people with a mortality rate hovering around 65 years instead of the west's 78+ years likely don't know that this junk is just that, toxic junk. Over time it will weaken and kill you. But in full-blown ignorance people flock to the Jollibees, MacDonalds, KFCs, ChowKings, Pizza Huts, Greenwichs of this world, and added to all those grocery-store fake 'snacks' that by the trillions in their shiny little packs the victims unwittingly buy, putting their quality of life seriously at risk. If you don't get diabetes, obesity, heart disease and other things from this stuff, call yourself lucky. Stay away?
