Decided to pop in last minute on a weekend dinner time. The place was semi busy. They have 25th anniversary specials going on now. We ordered a $28 special which included 10 pcs of chicken joy and 3 peach mango pies. The chicken was pipping hot and it comes with 2 dipping sauce gravys. The chicken is not overly salty, we got the original- no spice. The peach mango pies were just as good as a remembered them, flaky, filled goodness. First time ever trying out Jollibee and have to say its pretty darn good. Service was a bit slow, but its understandable since it looks as if this location was understaffed, but even so I still got my food in a reasonable amount of time. And thank goodness I ordered before there was a sudden rush of customers too. Food here is fantastic. Since it was my first time here, I ordered some spicy fried chicken and some hamburger steaks. When they say spicy chicken, its actually spicy. Went in expecting the spicy chicken to be adjusted to be the level of spicy that more mild mannered folks would enjoy, but I was genuinely surprise as to how nice and spicy it was. I had a mean hankering for palabok & repeatedly heard the praises of Jollibee from friends/family. Of course I took to Yelp to see what was nearby & saw this location was a short drive away. I wasn't really in the mood for fried chicken, but I knew I'd have to try it. One simply does not go to Steakhouse only to order a salad, right? Instead of hitting up the drive thru, I opted to go inside. From what I could tell, there's only one way in & one way out, understandably during this pandemic. I was greeted warmly, ordered my food, & it was a very short wait. Five minutes, if that. The quick drive home was torture as I could smell the goodness filling my car. So onto the food - the chicken was amazing! Both with or without the gravy. (FYI, I ordered mild, but they do give you an option to half & half even on a 2 piece order.) Insanely crisp, not greasy at all, & full of flavor! The palabok was wonderful all things considered... this isn't your family's recipe, so with that in mind, I felt it fair to not hold it to this standard. I watched several videos about this chicken so I drive about an hour from home to try it. It was decent but nothing I'd crave again. I enjoyed the mashed Potatoes and gravy the most. I may be biased because i seriously love love love this place. So i decided to Drive Thru today instead of cooking. Their chicken which is called chicken joy is juicy and oh so crunchy i can eat it all day everyday. I also like their burger steak which is a burger patty with some mushroom sauce. I especially love their noodles called Palabok. Its a must try. Its the noodles with the yellow/orange sauce. Everybody loves their Peach Mango Pie. I am not a fan of their burgers. But some might like what they call the Aloha Burger which has pineapple in it. I love their pineapple juice but i must say its not natural and its sweet. Their breakfast menu is a must try as well. With it being like 54 degrees outside why in the world do they still have the AC on? It's like having dinner in the freezer! The tables were surprisingly clean even after I wiped ours. Delicious, probably the best fast food fried chicken chain. The chicken is tender and moist, the breading is light and airy, and the gravy is thick, creamy, and not too salty. I feel that the chicken itself is the best part. We also ordered palabok, which was rather bland, and the mango peach pies, which were good and not too sweet, but I wish the filling was less liquidy. I was not ready for how good this was. I really didn't expect to like the spaghetti because people call it sweet. I don't know how to describe it to do it justice but I loved it. This was one of the most famous jingles from their advertisement back in 1995 and it has stuck with me (& probably to other Filipinos too) ever since. As I was enjoying my meal on a quiet summer evening, I was quietly singing this line.. it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable... it brought back a lot of good memories. Jollibee certainly was a big part of my childhood and adult life in the Philippines, same for my kids as well. This was my second time here, the first time I visited was a couple of years ago when they were about only a month old. I know, wrong move...but I did it for my daughter who kept begging me to take her. We waited in line to get our orders in at the counter for about 2 and a half hours, then another 45 minutes for our food. It was THAT busy.. but speaking from my Filipino heart, it was worth it. Fast forward to 2 years later (with another Jollibee inside the Seafood City supermarket), this last visit was much more comfortable, faster and enjoyable. There were a few people in line and tables occupied at around 7pm on a hot Monday. The place is clean and well-kept, and the counter service was efficient. My kids and I ordered the ChickenJOY w/ Jolly Spaghetti meal; Burger Steak w/ mashed potatoes, Big Yum, Palabok and Halo-Halo...oh, and lots of extra gravy. Every bite, food smell and experience was incredible and gave so much 'joy" to me and my kids. It's not just about the taste and presentation of what Jollibee offers, this is a fast food establishment to begin with. I know that it's just fried chicken (ChickenJoy) and brown gravy, sweet tasting spaghetti w/ hotdogs (Jolly Spaghetti), thin beef patty with a different dressing on a regular bun (Big Yum), and other items that are probably nothing special to other people and could not understand the "hype"...but Jollibee is sort of implanted in every Filipino being...who grew up or have lived in our native land, long enough to appreciate how big of a deal it is that there is actually a Jollibee here now in the Midwest area of the US. As long as we have Jollibee here, I would come back every chance I can. I could imagine that it is busier on the weekends so I'd rather visit on the weekdays. My friend and I found this place as a happy accident. It's a Filipino fast food place. We were on our way home to Highland Park, IL and we needed to stop by a Walmart Supercenter. As we were driving into the Walmart, my friend pointed out she saw a sign for Jollibee and I freaked out because I had it before in NJ, but she never tried it and I told her we need to go. This was late at 10pm, therefore, they were closed. But we made it a mission to come during lunch time the next day. *Verdict: It was sooo worth the drive back! We went into the drive-thru and since I wasn't sure how the menu was like (the first time I went people ordered for me) we asked the guy his recommendations. His name was Nathan. You can hear the excitement in his voice when we asked him what we should order. He keep saying "you're gonna love it, it's so good here!" He suggested the 3 piece Fried Chicken combo with two sides. He said the Adobo Rice was really good and the Steamed Rice too. Also, the Spaghetti and MANGO PEACH PIES for dessert! (A MUST!!) I knew that was the most significant item to order because that is what I love about Jollibee! It's better to eat the Mango Peach Pie fresh and hot too! Its crispy, warm, sweet and savory pie melts in your mouth! Life is complete after you have the FRESH Mango Peach Pie. Especially when Mango and Peach are my two favorite combos in anything (especially boba tea) so that hits the spot for sure. The fried chicken was really crispy. We got the spicy over the original non-spicy flavor. The recommendation is to eat the chicken with the brown gravy that it comes with and it's different, but GOOD. The Adobo rice has great flavor, more flavor than the plain steamed rice and it's the best combo to eat with the chicken as well. The spaghetti was sweet and had hotdogs in it, which I loved. We ordered the chicken joy, the adobo rice and the beef steak. The rice was a tad bit dry and I felt like it had no flavor so that was definitely a pass. The beef steak straight up looked like those Salisbury steaks you get with tv dinners. I wasn't a big fan of the meat but the gravy was good. The chicken joy was good, especially with the gravy. The chicken joy was nicely breaded and juicy. Is it the best fried chicken I've ever had? Absolutely not. Will I get some flack for saying I'm not a huge fan of jollibee as a fellow Filam? Probably so. When I went, there was hardly anyone there and my friends and I were able to find a table fast. All in all, this place was okay and we mostly went for the experience. Well, I couldn't pass up eating at this restaurant chain, since it is out of the Philippines, which I have visited in the past. It's like the Phils version of McDonald's mixed with a KFC. They do have several different items that are more geared towards the Philippines. Everything is good on their menu. Although, I'm not a fan of their spaghetti. Jollibee has been open for a while near our house but we'd never gone. My daughter has a lot of Filipino friends who recommended it so the last time we were headed to Mariano's (up the street) we decided to give it a try. Due to COVID-19 and restaurants being closed except for carry out and drive thrus, the line for their drive thru was as long as Starbucks! And their menu is very limited right now. They only had dark meat chicken, two choices for sides, and pineapple juice or water. My daughter got a two piece with fries and loved it. The chicken is fried crisp and was very fresh and juicy inside. I'm not a huge fan of fried chicken but I tried it and it was really good. It comes with some sort of gravy which she normally doesn't like, and she loved it! She was dipping her fries in it as we drove. The pineapple juice was really good too. The fried chicken is a Bit pricey compared to browns or kfc but the quality is better and it comes with gravy. This place is a Filipino staple! But anyone can enjoy it and I have seen non Filipinos in the resto eating and enjoying. The famous order is the chicken joy and you must get it! It took about ten minutes to get attention - between the shuffle of complaints and dine in customers. No follow up after the first time I asked which was irking. I was taking a break from shopping at a nearby mall (shopping??). I wound up at Jollibee, a freestanding fast food restaurant on Touhy in Skokie. Jollibee is a super popular chain that I have tried during a brief visit to the Philippines a few years ago. Supposedly long lines of patrons form regularly at this fairly new Jollibee, though I came during non-peak hours (Sunday mid-afternoon) so it was not overly crowded. I ordered my food, and my buzzer went off in about five minutes so it was indeed fast food in my instance. I sat in the "back" area so I did not hear the buzz of the kids dining and otherwise cavorting. I wanted to try a couple of food items. My combo meal included one piece of fried chicken and spaghetti, plus fountain soft drink. The drumstick was fine and came with a cup of brown gravy which I did not really need at all. The spaghetti is basically Filipino-style, so the tomato sauce is fairly sweet and comes with chunks of what seemed like hot dog bits. For dessert I ate a fried peach mango pie. This Jollibee meal did satisfy my food craving for the time being, so I was able to satisfactorily complete my shopping excursion for the day. read more

3.5 stars. My point of view is from my daughter picking up takeout for me while she's out there. It's a first for me to try Jollibee. I thought the takeout after an hour or two later still tasted good. The peach mango pies were tasty, but big packaging for little pie sad, but I'll survive. Lol. I also had the Chicken Joy with chicken adobo rice, not bad but nothing out of the ordinary; fried chicken was decent. The portions were big enough to share.
