Checked in at the counter and looked the worker dead in the eyes while telling them I had a pickup for 215. Still the best fried chicken in Seattle for me. If I'm even close to the Southcenter Mall, you bet I'm getting some Jollibee. Drumsticks and thighs only, but that's the best part of the chicken anyways. I usually go on the weekdays to avoid the long weekend lines, so the wait is only a couple minutes if none at all. My go-to is the 3-piece spicy Chicken Joy with spaghetti or if I'm really hungry, I'll get a bucket. That's for special occasions though. It's always spicy fried chicken for me, because if it's just regular, your life is boring. It's honestly not that hot and you need the full seasoning experience as you dip it into the gravy that comes with it. The skin is perfectly crispy on the outside, Eric Cartman would want to peel off the skin in secrecy before everyone finds out. Meanwhile, the meat is juicy because dark meat is king, so it's never dry. As for the spaghetti, anything with hot dogs is A+ in my book. I just love the sweetness of the spaghetti. The only reason this place is getting 4 stars is because it's a fast food chain and even then I feel bad about it . Went here when visiting the Tacoma mall to get a bite before a shopping adventure and I was pretty darn impressed. If you haven't had Jollibee before, please do yourself a favor and try it. This location is located in Southcenter in Tukwila, and it definitely gets PACKED here, with a line stretching out the door. I would probably recommend ordering ahead online and then going to pick it up if you want to save time. If it's your first time here, you have to try the fried chicken, baked spaghetti, and peach mango pie. The spicy chicken is tolerable for a person who doesn't handle spice well. However if you want to get the spicy chicken you may want to look into ordering online as they don't always have the spicy flavor when ordering in store. I did not realize Jollibee has been at the Southcenter Mall since 2010. I have heard of the brand often, and I heard they just opened in Tacoma and will open one in Beaverton, Oregon, and I am there often so thought it may be a good choice. I can see why there are so many negative reviews. Like the rating reflects...it could have been better. at 10:20 AM yesterday, there was a line of ten groups which moved quickly. They had two cashiers and one person manning the area for online orders and pick-ups such as myself. Very good system. When I ordered, I wanted to try the tenders and the bone-in chicken. I was told that the tenders were not available. I think the cashier told me that a new recipe was being developed for the tenders and they would be available in a couple of weeks?? Odd. The chicken by itself had zero flavor. It was juicy, but the two pieces were small and lacked any seasoning. The gravy that is given with each order was good, but the taste of the chicken is then different...even though it is better. I just like my fried chicken to stand on its own. The three side choices include fries, mashed potatoes or white rice. I chose the french fries. They were warm, not hot, and had zero seasoning, like the chicken. There was not any salt or pepper supplied or any on the table, so I ate a few with the ketchup packets that were given to me. When I went to pour my beverage in the cup, I noticed two of the flavors were out of order/stock? Considering it is company of 1,400 locations, I had much higher expectations. They are somehow able to get the spicy seasoning throughout the chicken and not just on the skin or breading. The palabok is just as good for what it is. The chicken was the MOST moist chicken I have ever tasted from a fast food joint. The skin was crispy and golden and the flavor was infused to the bone. I would go back for the chicken alone! The sides are the only reason why I gave this recipe a 4/5. the spaghetti was sweet which I don't mind and the cut up hot dogs in reminded me of a simpler time when my dad could get up without needing help and I had a bowl cut. The adobo rice tasted good but could have used "a lot" more seasoning and the mashed potatoes and gravy were below KFC's standards of flavor. Jollibee is pretty dang good and hyped up. I was introduced to this place late and surprised it took this long (probably because it's pretty far away though). It's always busy here and there's always a line. Big fan of the spaghetti which has a very sweet sauce, though I'm unsure how I feel about ham being included. The chicken is nice and crispy, but I wouldn't say the actual chicken is anything special as it's not super juicy or anything. Overall, the chickenjoys are tasty though. Gravy can be a bit watery and not as thick which is another thing that's not too convincing, but the taste with the chicken is great. What's better than a nice hot meal? Well you have some great dessert options to finish up. The mango pie is a classic but the ube pie is pretty good too when it's available. They're warm, fresh, and soft. Wish there were more locations around because this is pretty deep, but it's probably for the better. Jollibee too often isn't going to be good for me. We finally placed our order but we had to repeat ourselves because the cashier didn't catch everything. We received a buzzer and waited for our order. We picked up our food and checked our to-go bag. It was missing food items. Not only that, they gave us 1 napkin, 1 spoon, and 1 fork to share with the family. Look, I love my fam but I'm not about sharing utensils. Second "kidnapping" by The College Friend, this time to head south to Tukwila to get introduced to Jolibee and the concept of chickenjoy (4/2/21). Wow the increased traffic southbound I-5 at 1130! Seriously? Is it really worth this drive? I started rattling off alternate detours. Nope, The College Friend was determined to have her chickenjoy combo for lunch. Isn't it Good Friday? Aren't we supposed to fast or eat fish? Too many questions from this self identified recovering, wayward Catholic. We finally strategically park at Westfield/Southcenter Mall around the corner from Seafood City, an Asian/Filipino centric grocery store. Upon entry there's an adjacent food court with busy businesses like Grill City, Valerio's, Red Ribbon, ChowKing, and Jollibee with a masked-socially distanced line. Yelp Nerd Alert as I start snapping photos for this initial post. I felt like I needed a prize or some recognition as one of the last Filipino Americans to experience chickenjoy, lol! An employee took my order on a yellow Post-It, felt like a book signing or a Dutch Bros beverage line. Then I advanced inside, hand over my Post-It to the person at the register. Complete payment (cards only), then step aside and await your name to be called. I ordered one of the family style combos, but was encouraged to up the chickenjoy quantity. Why not? It had been five years since I was in this vicinity, got to get this Jolibee fix. The College Friend ordered a two piece spicy chickenjoy with pancit palabok, a peach mango hand pie, and a pineapple beverage. This hit the spot for her! Ended up with a 10 piece Chickenjoy bucket with 5 each drumsticks and thighs. Perfect since The Homie loves drumsticks, for me, thighs are preferred. Crispy, not salty, hot and juicy. I ate two pieces onsite, tasty! Deducted one star, because that particular person bagging my order was a bit dour and provided no napkins or utensils. Also, ended up eating at a table that was not clean, so my "plate" was three layers of napkins I had to pilfer from the cordoned area by the counter. I wished for a canister of Clorox wipes to clean...like leaving a place better than initially found. This chickenjoy bucket also came with two additional containers of a gravy like dipping sauce. This particular combo also came with a large entree of Filipino style spaghetti with a sweet pasta sauce, meat and chopped hot dogs and garnished with cheese. This was specifically for The Homie. I prefer my pasta al dente with a proper Italian style bolognese sauce. Dessert were three peach mango hand pies, reminiscent of the golden arches version. But not cloyingly sweet, not greasy, and was warm. Not bad. So guess I'm no longer in the minority of the Jolibee uninitiated. I still prefer Cookie's Country Chicken in Seattle's Pioneer Square/SoDo area. When my family and I crave chicken, we head down to Jollibee. It doesn't matter how long the line is out of the store, we're committed! For a family of 6, we usually get a a couple boned in chicken and a 16 piece tender for those that don't want to deal with the bone. My daughter and I love their palabok so we get that do.
