Consistently it's been an independent shoe shop run by an unassuming middle aged Asian bloke and a few shop assistants. It's not exactly a hotbead of depravity and wackiness but the shoes, oh god the shoes are insane. If you've ever wondered where the strippers of Cardiff get their shoes then wonder no more, this place has a huge selection of clear heels, PVC boots and shocking stilettos. They're probably supplying footwear for every torture garden within a 10 mile radius. If you're not a Goth or a stripper, there's a great range of shoes, from the generic ugg/crock type thing to completely insane heels that will have people asking "Where on earth did you get those...?"

Schuh does its own shoes and also stocks brands such as Havanas and Fly, and all of these are going to see you through to the next shoe-year at the very, very least! I went in here yesterday and they had a fantastic sale on. The cutest little pumps that you ever did see were going for only ten pounds, which is great! Unfortunately they didn't have my size, but I just thought that it clearly wasn't meant to be. Although they were quite busy, and perhaps understaffed, and the weather was hot, and I didn't get my shoes, the staff members were great. Although it took a while to serve me, they kept acknowledging I was there, so I knew that they were tyring and I would be dealt with as soon as possible. So many times you're ignored in those kind of situations, so this was nice.

I practically live in Converse at the moment and there is nowhere better than Schuh to find a pair a little bit out of the ordinary! At the minute I am walking around in a pair of pink and black Converse which I have jazzed up with silver laces. This shop also has a great 'own brand' range which are not only great quality they are also very light on the bank balance. I have just bought a pair of Schuh's king cross weave sandals for my holiday. They are lush! I haven't worn them yet as I don't want to scratch them before I go, but every night before I go to bed I give them a sneaky kiss and a cuddle just to ensure they are still there! It's worth going here when there is a sale on as they mark down prices are superb!

At first glance you'd be forgiven…read morefor believing that it's a conventional shop that carries all the brands that are targeted toward the more mature customer like Eco and Scholl, whereas in actual fact, they stock some really cool brands like Dr Marten's, Kickers, Hush Puppies, and Grenson's as well as a whole range of teetering heels and strappy decorative women's shoes, (which will ensure that you will be looking for Eco and Scholl footwear by the time you reach fifty!). A large shop, they also carry a good range of walking boots and specialist items like snow boots. Prices are really affordable and they always have good sales. There's a really cool kids section too. Best of all... there's a sale on at the moment! One way in which they are 'old fashioned', is another thing that adds to their appeal. They perform shoe repairs and cut keys, but these days they do it with a modern slant. There's none of that dropping off your favourite shoes for a week so they can be re-heeled. Instead, A G Meek have moved with the times and now offer a repair service while you wait.

I love shoes more than 11 year old girls love Justin Beiber (or whatever his name is and I don't care if I spent it wrong). I love shoes more than Joanie loved Chachi (for those of you who, like me, pine for the long gone golden years of popular culture). But as much as I love shoes, I just can't get a feel for this place. I've seen what I think are meant to be fashionable shoes in the window, but they really don't appeal to me. They look like cheap, tacky, plastic rubbish that not even a £2.50 an hour, aging hooker would be seen dead wearing. In my opinion... Seems to me like this shop (more so than the one in town) is more for kids and old people. I may be wrong. One day I may walk past and see a pair that become my absolute favourite shoes. But I doubt it.

The shoes probably cater towards slightly older folk who have a real love for comfort because they sell birkenstocks but I love me some birkens and usually find them quite difficult to track down in Cardiff. They stock hush puppies and cloggs as well, so if you like that kind of thing, you'll LOVE it here.

But everyone lovely their cardigan when it's -9 degrees outside, and feel comfy in it as they clutch at their steaming tea. Likewise, we have Cloggs. They have a good range of comfortable and sensible shoes. The kinds made with soft leather and bouncy soles (does anyone else remember that childhood feeling of flying when you got new trainers and bounced around the playground?). They have shoes to fit very little feet, little feet, medium feet, adult feet and massive-manly feet. All nicely designed and good investments. Cloggs will not sell you shoes to dance the night away in, but instead will provide you with that favourite comfy pair you wear until the rain seeps up through the soles and grieve for when you finally throw them out.

The problem with this shop is that go inside looking for something nice and comfortable for every day wearing (or maybe that's just me, I'm just not a Kurt kinda girl), and it's hard to find anything. Office have some of the mos spectacularly silly shoes that I've ever seen. They're pretty and colourful and frilly when you see them all together, but on their own I personally think they're just ugly. There are a lot of more sensible shoes, but prices can be very high, especially in their boots section. These are shoes that make a fashion statement. Which is great, but I prefer the slightly less over the top Schuh two doors down.

Incase you don't know they sell branded shoes, like Uggs, Converse, Diesel, Paul Smith, Hush Puppies ect ect. My prefered choice of shoes are Converse- I know I should of grown out of them by now but they are so reliable and go with everything. Anyway Soletrader always has a good selection, and also Birkenstocks, the most comfy sandals ever. Staff are a bit hit and miss here and the service lets them down a bit.

Come here for boots…read more They sell a variety of other brands, like Converse and Blowfish, but they're cheaper elsewhere, and their range of Converse isn't that great. But this shop excels when it comes to boots. Whether you're an Uggs fan, or you're more of a Dr Martens person, there are plenty to choose from. This is the ideal place to come when winter kicks in because you can go straight to the boots and immediately find what you need. This isn't the most colourful of shops, in its shoes or the shops personality in general (or the staff's personalities for that matter) but it's all about practical, everyday footwear. Great for browsing in that everything is clearly and spaciously displayed, however, it's worth checking the prices of some shoes in other shops before you buy them here, as Soletrader tends to be more expensive.
