I am deeply disappointed and heartbroken over the way our family was treated during what was already one of the most painful moments of our lives. What should have been a peaceful and respectful farewell to our loved one was instead turned into a stressful, rushed, and extremely upsetting experience. We were rushed into an 8:00 AM service, and by approximately 8:30 AM, they were already closing the casket, even though there was still a line of family members waiting for the opportunity to say their final goodbyes. These are moments that cannot be recreated, and our family should never have been made to feel rushed during such an important and emotional time. Another extremely painful issue was that the funeral home took the casket to the hearse without notifying the family or asking whether anyone wanted to help carry it. This was incredibly insensitive, disrespectful, and unprofessional. The burial itself was even more disturbing. When we arrived at the gravesite, there was a large pool of water in the grave. Despite the condition of the grave, they insisted on proceeding with lowering our loved one while the water was still being drained. It appeared that the priority was simply to complete the burial and finish the services rather than allowing our family to have a proper, respectful final goodbye. What made the situation even more upsetting was that the main flower arrangement was placed directly on top of him and then buried, along with another flower arrangement. Instead of allowing the flowers to remain outside the grave after our loved one was completely buried, everything was covered and buried with him. Our family was not properly informed or given the opportunity since dirt was already being poured on his casket before even deciding what should happen with the flowers. We were also extremely concerned about the depth of the burial. Our family was observed that he was buried approximately two- three feet below the surface rather than the six feet we expected. This raised serious concerns for us about how the burial was conducted and whether proper burial procedures were followed. Every part of this experience left our family feeling rushed, ignored, and completely disregarded. We entrusted this funeral home with our loved one during one of the most vulnerable moments of our lives. We expected compassion, professionalism, communication, and respect. Instead, we experienced the opposite. This was one of the most heartbreaking and disappointing experiences our family has ever endured. I would not recommend this funeral home based on our experience. No family should have to go through this after already suffering the loss of a loved one. read more

A few weeks ago, we held my cousin's funeral at Jorge Rivera. She'd had insurance and her company assured payment, but the funeral director said that wasn't good enough. The morning of her burial, the director threatened to hold the body unless he was paid immediately. We were not strangers to this director as this was the 4th funeral from my family in the past year. He didn't try to work with us to arrange a payment; he immediately went to a threat. Her children ( 21-year-old twin daughters, and 18- and 27-year-old sons) were already distraught at their mother's unexpected death and had to endure unnecessary stress and disrespectful behavior. They spent the morning scrambling to find a way to arrange the immediate payment. Thankfully, we were able to secure payment, but the damage had been done. Once payment was secured, they proceeded to treat us callously. The funeral home representative at the cemetery was incredibly rude and didn't seem to know what she was doing. First, despite paying for a priest, we only had one at the funeral home, but not at the cemetery as expected. This was explained to us at the cemetery when it was too late for us to secure someone else to take the priest's place. Second, she didn't help distribute flowers at the burial claiming there were not enough (we had 4 wreaths). Family friends ended up pulling the flowers for us. Last, they didn't lower the casket until we asked despite the tradition of the casket being lowered to allow for flowers to be thrown. All of this was done with a haughty attitude towards a family that had just suffered a devastating loss. I post this review mostly because I'd hate to see any other family go through what we endured with them. No one should have to suffer that kind of stress in the midst of incredible grief. Yelp is very generous that it does not include a ZERO rating on their grading scale. This funeral home was very inconsiderate during the peak of COVID-19 back in the Spring of 2020. As some have mentioned, if you have insurance or Medicaid that becomes a tedious process to deal with. We dealt with cash because it was going to be a very long ordeal. According to the staff member Wesley, he "was us doing a favor" by burying my dad during this Covid-19 first wave. My wife was highly upset when she heard these words come out of his mouth. I can go on for hours about all of the hiccups that we endured during this difficult time. On top of it all, my uncle had passed away 4 days prior and my cousins had their own headaches to do deal with. Make sure to stay clear unless you have no other option or Medicaid is your only solution. read more

We had my uncle's wake at this funeral home tonight and the directors, Aurora and Lydia, treated us terribly. When dealing with loss it is important that people are allowed the opportunity to mourn their loved ones with dignity and respect. Lydia and Aurora tried to control EVERYTHING even the last moments during which our family said goodbye to our uncle. I would never recommend this funeral home as the directors were constantly telling us to move out of the way, not to take water into the chapel (or hallway for that matter), to not speak loudly, etc. There is a lack of professionalism here. My cousin touched my uncle and one of them yelled at her and told her that she "couldn't touch the body". This place is deplorable. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. read more

I unfortunately had to use the services of this funeral home and when the Manager says "I got paid, its not my problem now" it makes you wonder how unethical this place is. I thought you were in the business to help people, not just to take their money? Marcos acted as if he cared so much about my family until we made a payment. The moment we paid, he dodged us at every opportunity he had. The manager was NEVER in the office and no one could ever tell us when he'd be back. How is this possible? I should have known better when I walked in and the woman director says "I don't want to deal with these people"...yeah your walls are pretty thin and we all heard you and don't worry, you never will have to deal with us again. This funeral home cares about one thing only and that's money. I wish someone warned me about this place. I hope no one has to go through what these people made my family go through. The funeral home is beautiful but the physical dwelling lacks the necessary peace for the deceased and all arriving to pay respects to family. The levels of disrespect while seeking the necessary solace and tranquillity for the pain and loss rose to extreme levels due to the consistency and persistence of Aurora and Nidia trying to control the behaviors of all in attendance. For example, no water is allowed. No touching your deceased relative is allowed. No talking in vestibule areas is allowed and the list goes on. You pay the expensive fees and then everyone in attendance is subjected to the Nidia Aurora Madness. Your deceased family members, family and friends deserve better. read more

My Mother passed away last Sunday and we used this funeral home since it was close to the Crematorium. The place is clean, spacious and the rooms are nicely laid out. However everything else was a mess. The mic they gave us, all you can hear was static, couldn't hear the person speaking. We ended up shutting it off and talking really loud so folks in the back could hear. I asked if they had speakers so we can have prayers playing softly in the background, we were told there is a Smart TV that we can use. The Smart TV did not work. We played the prayers on a cell phone, placed it in the a vase to amplify sound. We paid $400 for cosmetology and dressing. I dressed my own Mother. Despite showing them a picture of my Mother, they made my mother look darker and the make up was horrible. We could not recognize our Mother. And anytime we needed anything we had to hunt down the person in charge of our funeral services. We did the best we could with what we were dealt with. My mother dedicated her life to us and we could not even give her a decent funeral. She deserved much better than that! read more
