From the moment we stepped into Josef Chromy's restaurant, the staff were pleasant and professional and we knew we were in for a nice afternoon. I'll start by acknowledging the setting and outlook, which was capitalised on with our outdoor seating. Entree chosen of confit trout and a pork dish were both delicious and generous in portion (considering some nicer restaurants subscribe to the less is more philosophy). Main course of eye fillet, cooked exactly to the medium rare request and chicken, with various complementing sides, were again delicious and couldn't be faulted. Again good sized servings, but not so much that dessert wasn't tackled! Lastly, couldn't fault the individual cheese platter and award winning peach gingerbread trifle. Most pleasing of all was the service and wait staff. Food and drinks order taking was well timed, all staff were pleasant and genuine. Overall very very happy with both the experience and the food - obviously it comes with a price tag, but I'd prefer to pay more for something I'm happy with than less for something sub-standard. Will definitely be back, especially for any special occasions. read more
