We were here fairly early in a Saturday morning. We were able to seat ourselves and chose a table in the middle. We ordered decaf and water. Hubby got his usual ham and swiss omelette and I tried one of the specials green chilaquiles- they were tasty and served with any type of egg I chose over easy and plenty of avocado. Everything was tasty and the service was good also, refills were timely. Of course we will return!!!

A friend of mine told me about Josef's to get pastries and bread for his wife and always spoke highly of this place. I had never been in here until today and had a wonderful shrimp taco lunch. I wanted to try the green chilaquiles but they were out so I'll have to come back and try that that has Eggs and chicken on it and guacamole. The selection of pastries is outstanding very nice setting and quality food.

What's the best part of any bakery? The smell of freshly-baked pastries. There is nothing better. This bakery also has a small cafe. The menu offers sandwiches, quiches, breakfast items, French toast, waffles, French crepes, salads, soups, and more. They have a small variety of Austrian items as well as Mexican items. What's not to love? They have been in business since 1980 and are family-owned. Small business is the backbone of our country. We have on several occasions ordered cakes from here. The cakes were decadent and scrumptious. I have never eaten here before today. I only wish they offered gluten-free bread for toast and other sandwiches. I ordered a mini quiche, which was smaller than I had anticipated. I got the bacon and cheddar. My bestie got the Black Forest Ham and Brie. When I go back, I am getting that Black Forest ham and Brie. I got a bite, and it was incredibly scrumptious. The sandwich panini was beyond delicious. Of course, how do you go wrong with Brie? My bestie raved about the tomato soup. We both got tomato soup. It was good. Our meals came with a cookie. Our waiter was kind and friendly. Had it not been for the long line, we would have waited to purchase a pastry. We will definitely be back.

Love this place - love it - mom and pop - if feels like I'm at grandmas house again. I will keep coming back - the pastries out front are to die for- you can't go wrong with anything with their bakery. The ladies who work there are amazing as walkways and help me make good choices with the menu. I'm working my way down from the left hand side . I really like anything with poached eggs here . The lunch sandwiches are are good choice too. What's your fancy ? They make it happen.

Everyone is so FRIENDLY! From the hostess to the servers and everyone in between it is such a del to be in Josef's. Cozy cafe style with with old Vienna art in the walls. The food was delicious! I had a new item in the menu-Cuban sandwich and a side of red cabbage. Both were taste bud sensations. My hubs had the turkey Swiss avocado in sourdough and said the bread was so light and fluffy. He had a side of tomato bisque soup that was so flavorful.

There comes a time when a place, which has enjoyed of a loyal clientele becomes too big. The good: we had excellent coffee, and the person who served me the coffee treated me really well. The bad: one of the employees took over the restroom for a long time, and my wife had to wait to use it. The ugly: the person who took our order acted like we owed her something. She went right for the what can I do for you, question.. there was no hello. It's good to have you here, we are pleased that you are here, or any indication that my business was wanted. It really felt weird to be waited on by somebody who doesn't care.

So I had asked them to write in the cake when I placed the order and they said yeah that's fine. So when I come to pick it up nothing and the owner who bakes the cakes left for the day and that no one could do writing but if I wanted to go to plump location I could. I asked her for her manager and she said they both left and moved on to the next customer. This is the third incident I have had with this location with the same employee horrible customer service and just doesn't listen to the problems just says the manger isn't here and moves on to the next. If you don't answer she will skip you in line and give you nothing but attitude. The worst if I could give negative I would give you 10 but since I can't I guess I can do a 1. Finding new bakery asap never will I waste my money and time here

Well... came back a few months later. Saw today they had a special smoked salmon benedict with BRIOCHE Bread, and my regular here is the Lobster Benedict which comes with English muffin. Simple request, I asked our server Karla to have the brioche bread instead of the e glass muffin on my lobster benedict and reluctantly the waitress simply kept saying that they don't accommodate substitutions, even though today's special benedict is made with a different bread. Simple exchange. I even offered to pay additional, and she wouldn't not budge. I asked if there was anyone she or I could ask for that substitution and her answer was saying the manager wasnt there. I find it very unfortunate. Something as simple as putting a different bread and they simply say no. Mind you, it was early on a Saturday, only 6 tables being used, meaning they were not even busy...super slow pace... i don't see why the lack of accommodation... That's unfortunately. Apparently they will NOT allow su situation at all. Even if it is just a piece of bread, which they make here. What a bummer. Poor customer service too. Little to no effort to even get a supervisor or anyone in charge to at least ask on my behalf.

Absolutely delicious cafe and bakery. Service is great and so is the food. The three cheese panini melts in your mouth with amazing pull on the cheese. There is accessible parking in the front. When you walk in it smells so good you just want to try everything from the bakery. Definitely recommend!

    Tea with bad creamer

This place has a wonderful array of fresh baked goods as well as an appealing menu. The food is good, we has a spinach and mushroom scrambler and wiernerschnitzel. The coffeee and tea are below average. When I asked cream I was pointed the little containers on the table. These have a date of April 6 but when my husband and I each put one into our tea and coffee, it's obvious that they have gone bad. This is fine but when we pointed it out to our waitress she acted as if we were making it up. After asking a third time, she got my husband a second cup of coffee which was bitter. I ordered a pot of tea and she did not offer to replace the cup that went bad. I asked to order more which she ignored. This place has a lot of positives on the food but beverages and service need improvement.

We've been to the new Josef's on Plumb and thought it'd be fun to check out the OG Josef's. It definitely is a bit cozier, but the bakery seems to have a wider variety of options. In particular, we noticed the iced decorated cookies, which I haven't seen at the other location. We tried some go-tos for us (the baked eggs (sooo delicious) and the green omelet). I prefer the more abundant parking and seating/room size of the new location, but was surprised that the already delicious food seemed even fresher and better here. And the sides of fruit were extremely fresh and plentiful. Service was excellent, and you can tell some of the staff have worked there for years. Love the bonus "mini danish" you get with the meals. Will definitely be back if we're in the area...can't wait to try the goulash again!

This restaurant/bakery is so cute! It's set up as 2 adjoining rooms and the bakery items looked amazing but we were there for breakfast. My husband had the ham and cheese crepes and I had the pecan waffles and some fresh fruit. Everything was very good and I loved the little pot they brought for my hot tea. Service was great-worth a visit!

Josef's will forever be a favorite for many in Reno. Great location, large parking lot, plenty of seating inside and outdoor seating is available. As soon as you walk in, you can see their fresh baked goodies and open bakery to the left. The macarons are huge, there are over 50 flavors of cakes to choose from that they can make for all assorted occasions, as well as a wide variety of other delectables for your enjoyment. Families have been coming to Josef's for a delicious, home cooked or baked meal not only because the flavors are on point, but also because the portions are perfect and every plate is affordable. Where else in town can you get a lobster Benedict for under $20?? And it's delicious! Service was great per usual, they have a great team that communicates and helps each other to ensure every guests is happy. The ambiance is that of an old school bakery and restaraunt with kitchen decor on the walls, red and tan accents, and lots of space between wooden tables. Other items purchased were the vanilla and chai latte, a child's strawberry crepe with Nutella (because why not?), as well as the Huevos Rancheros with OM eggs. Between the beans, crispy tortilla and ranchero sauce, their Huevos Rancheros is the best in town. Thank you Josef's for being consistently tasty and affordable!

The BBQ Pork Bun was good with nice flavor. I would order it again, especially since I don't know of many other places in Reno where I can get one of my favorite dim sum items. The Minced Pork Dumplings, however, were not for us. I believe the flavor of the Chinese leek may have been what turned us off. As for the Napoleon, it wasn't very sweet or particularly flavorful, and it made quite a mess to eat. Not something I'd reorder. The Sui Mai was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. This was the winner of our take home feast. While not everything was a hit for us, we'd return for the Sui Mai and BBQ Pork Buns and other explore some other items that we have yet to try.

YELP REVIEW PROMPT…read more Checked on Yelp for a dessert spot that I haven't tried before. Sierra Nevada Creamery and Bakery was a quick four minute walk from our lunch spot so we thought why not! It's located right next to the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts and has a very small parking area. There are restaurants on either side so there is also street parking. It was a warm day so I decided on a double scoop in a cup, one pistachio and one sea salt caramel. The double scoop was huge, definitely no skimping and only $10. There was one person ahead of us and then tons of people piled in after we did so we got there at a really good time! There was only employee working (I think he may have been the owner). I felt so bad because it was just him and he had a line almost out the door but if he was stressed he did not show it. He was friendly and so professional. The inside is pretty small but there some places to sit and if the inside is full the grass area right outside isn't a bad place to enjoy your treats. I would recommend for sure and I definitely want to go back and try a chocolate chip cookie. Things to note: Read his story on the ice cream menu. I enjoyed it and that is what makes me want to return to try the chocolate chip cookie.

I was surprised to see this place as I've driven by this strip of businesses many times and never noticed this particular spot. They offer homemade treats, but mostly ice cream. They have an almost unmatched selection of non-dairy ice creams and sorbets. A nice surprise. The gentleman helping us was very nice and gave us a full rundown of how they make everything in house. He offered samples and suggestions. I sampled the flavor of the week, Lavender Honey Matcha, and the coconut cream coffee. My kids decided on the mango sorbet and the classic strawberry. Everything was delicious. The coconut cream ice cream had great flavor and texture given that it was non dairy. My wife and I decided on the matcha flavor of the week. It was very refreshing. The strawberry had real chunks of strawberry which is always a treat. My biggest critique is the texture of the ice cream. This stuff seemed very crumbly. I prefer a much more "chewy" or "sticky" ice cream if that makes sense. This stuff was more "dry" and less "creamy". There are some other local shops in the area that make great ice cream exactly how I like it, which is the only reason for 4 stars. I'm not sure this would be my top place for ice cream again. The smallest "one scoop" size is actually nearly two full scoops. Could be a good thing for some, but a kids scoop is always appreciated for my toddlers, especially a a slightly discounted price. That is not an option here. There are a few small tables inside to enjoy your treats and lots of to-go options which is always nice. The place was clean and well decorated. It was steadily busy while we visited, indicating that this place is likely here to stay. Overall, worth stopping in if you're in the area. The flavors are unique and tasty and the non-dairy selection is fantastic.

We skipped the appetizers and salads and went straight to the main event. I ordered the mushroom ravioli, which I had been dreaming about all day.
