Please do not hire Joseph's Home Improvement. This guy is a fraud. He tried to scam my sister on some bathroom repairs. He quoted a price of $500.00, and then tried to scam her for an additional $1,000.00. He claimed she had a mold problem that he was required to report to the city inspector, who would force her to move immediately. Joseph is very deceptive with his business practices. Another red flag, he only takes cash. Take your time and find a reputable, licensed contractor. This guy should be reported to this city attorneys office. Joseph is a fraud! read more

I am a 79 year old widow who knows little to nothing about repairs. I thought I had found my perfect handyman. Boy was I wrong! He determined that I had two roof leaks on a roof that was less than 2 years old, supposedly repaired them by using a box cutter knife to cut away roof sheathing, put down new tar paper (which I never saw) and used tarmac to fasten shingles back down. I paid him $600 and did not receive a copy of the receipt that he and I put our initials on. After he left, I realized that he did not give me a copy. Later he texted me that he would bring "warranty and my copy of receipt" by, but he was soooo busy he had not had a chance to do so. After waiting a week or two, I sent a self-addressed stamped envelope to his business address and asked that he mail paper work to me, and a week later it was returned to me as "undeliverable". Still have not gotten paperwork. Gave me an estimate of $1700 to repair/replace a 25' strip of guttering. Luckily I told him that was too much, that I cannot afford that. Still no documentation of anything that he said he did was actually done !!!! No way would I recommed him to anyone!!!!! Do not use his services. He has no solid knowledge as a contractor. We've since had to hire a new contractor who has had to rip out the thousands of dollars of work that Joseph left unfinished. It was literally a safety hazard. Cords hanging all over the place, the porch half torn off, nails not spaced correctly and they tried to put sheet rock up with no insulation behind it!! He and his crew left trash all over our yard. Empty drink containers, pizza, scattered nails, broken glass - it was a disaster. Beyond that the police became involved when these degenerates were caught stealing material from our property. It has been a nightmare! Beware find a reputable contractor but for the love of God don't use Joseph!! read more

Does not build to code. Cost us $4000 to repair the mess.

My grandparent's hired Joseph to come out to their house and do some work before they sold their home. Joseph came out and looked over the work to be done. He said that he would have to do the electrical work. He asked for $2000 total in advance before the job for materials. Around $1700 for the door frame, masonry and bathroom vent work, and $280 for 2 breakers and 4 GFCI outlets. Joseph sent his foreman Josh to the home for the next visit. He was rude and made a mess of the repairs. He left the vent cover off in the bathroom after breaking it, and left all of his building materials and trash behind as well. The whole time Joseph was harassing his workers as to why they were not finished. They ended up having to leave after Joseph called them to another job. The workers came back without Josh and were trying to repair the mess that Josh made when they were called away again. Joseph demanded another $250 from my elderly grandparents, one of which was hospitalized. They refused to pay and he told his workers to not go back. I called Joseph myself to complain, he sent his workers back and they did a good job of finishing up. I had to still buy some of the materials though to finish the job because Joseph did not properly supply his workers. The board that was placed to repair the door frames by Josh was warped, had holes and was placed backwards. The workers had to remove it and fix it before placing it back on the frame. Had Josh done it right the first time it would of been a 15 min fix, however fixing Josh's mess took over 3 hours. Joseph harrased his workers again but this time they were thankfully able to finish. My grandparents had to hire another electrical contractor to finish the breakers and GFCI outlets. Joseph never came out to complete the electrical job my grandparents paid for. Joseph is an unprofessional contractor and is a bag of hot air. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN TO DO ANYTHING TO YOUR HOME. He is a crook that preys on the elderly, and treats his employees like dirt. read more

My advise is to stay as far away from this company as possible. I was a dumbass and paid a lot of money up front. They have screwed up more than has ever been fixed. Now I have to hire someone else to come in and start all over again. It would take me an hour of type all that I have been through. I have cried and cried over it. I am disabled and live off of 800 dollars a month and don't know when I will be able to save up that kind of money if ever. I do have pictures and testimonials of others who have seen his work. Contractor lies about being licensed and does not remotely build to code. He asks for small amounts of money up front to pay for the supplies and then tries to return them to wherever he bought them and use cheaper or recycled supplies. I had an associate from Lowe's call me to tell me he was trying to return a dishwasher and other supplies he was supposed to be using. Scams you out of money, do not use him! Contact the city building inspector or NC licensing board BEFORE you contact him or give him any money. I have a court case against him ongoing. Josephs home repair was hired to do a tile job on my mothers concrete porch. They met me at the local hardware store where they secured the materials needed for the job. I then made the purchase and Joseph's delivered the material to the job site. A few days later they showed up and ask to borrow tools from us to work with. That's not a joke. They had to borrow a shovel to get started. The porch is 12 x 20 ft. After a week or three they ask for pay even tho the job was not complete. I paid them and they left it unfinished. After a week went by I called and Joseph said it was done. That's when I told him it's not. He sent a couple of wine,o out to finish the job and they wanted more money. I don't think so. Well this guys a very big dumbass I'm rebuilding the add-on garage picture in his jobs its all wrong first the garage door doesn't shut all the way on the right side cause he didn't level the concrete second no hurricane strips third not nailed at all its all screwed witch would be fine bit there wasn't enough in places and screws put were they shouldn't have been the rafters weren't even attached to the walls they were just sitting there fourth there's no eve on the gable end fifth he didn't put the side door on right the lady that owes the home has to step up to go out the door sixth there's a two inch drop were the new concrete I'd he should've poured a ramp seventh he did build the wall out far enough on the garage door side it should be even with the house its back four inches to far eighth the gamble rafter supports are to short do they won't support any weight ninety he put in a damaged set of pull down attic steps there's more I just can't remember it all right now it is so bad that the inspector stopped lookin at it this guy should be sued and put in jail for fraud or shit he's no carpenter I wouldn't hire him to build a dog house let alone work on the house I live in ol and he didn't even finish building the shit he calls a garage he ran off with the lady's cash read more
