Thankfully, my worries were unfounded, as the guys at Bridgestone Select were really great. I arrived just before their 5.30pm closing time and the guy stayed open for an extra half hour just to change my battery, which was so lovely of him. He was really friendly and changed it quickly and efficiently and charged me a fair price, explaining stuff the whole way. I liked it so much that I've booked my WOF in there next week too.

We had recently purchased a used Honda CR-V and when it was taken to Honda they said it needed $4900 worth of repairs. We are very suspicious that Honda was going over the top in trying to restore the car to factory new conditions and that was impractical and unreasonable in our opinion. We took the car to Maidstone and they were able to look at it quickly and came back with a few of the same repairs Honda was suggesting. In one case they agree with Honda on a repair and getting the part as genuine Honda part. The remainder of the repairs were either cheaper, or they felt were not sensible to perform at this stage. As a result we saved several thousand dollars compared to Honda's repair suggestions. At the end we forgot to get a windshield wiper replaced on the rear of the vehicle and Maidstone gave it to us and didn't charge. They seemed like reputable and honest mechanics who stand behind their work and will make sensible recommendations. We will be taking all of our vehicles to Maidstone moving forward.

Scott and Sharn are the two main mechanics at St Luke's and though they may not be the smiley-est of people, they are both really friendly, extremely thorough and full of good advice. I'd take helpful mechanics over a smile any day! Recently we had trouble getting a registration for my boyfriend's car and Sharn helped us figure out why it was happening and get it all sorted, even though it wasn't anything to do with St Luke's Tyre and Mechanical - they're just good guys. We'll get the reminder note in the mail to say one of our vehicles is due for a service and it is that kind of special attention that keeps us coming back. Their office lady is super friendly too. I have an old classic car as well as a Hilux and a new Corolla and when I moved to the area a few years ago I was recommended I go to Ward for my vehicle servicing and repair. Ward does my servicing, mechanical work and WOF's on all my cars and he is such a genuine honest mechanic. He has been in the business for donkeys' years, so he really knows his stuff, and nothing is a problem. He is hands down the most honest, thorough, and trustworthy mechanic I've ever been to, and I know my cars are in safe hands with Ward. His no BS thorough job saves me time and money in the long run, and I can trust everything he says. Having Ward in the same suburb I live in is awesome but even if he was 50Kms away I'd make the journey because I know he will respect and look after my pride and joy and treat it as if he owns it - this alone is a massive weight off my mind when I drop the keys off. The job is always done to an exacting standard, within budget and specified timings. If there ever is anything else required (and there always is on a classic car) Ward calls me before he starts the work with options as well as updated costs and timings. I cannot recommend Glen Eden Auto Services strongly enough, especially if you have a classic car or in fact any car which you want to take somewhere that is honest, will not rip you off and gives you peace of mind with a no-nonsense quality job. I asked for them to look at the fan belt when I booked in. I had to wait 2 weeks cause they were busy, but when I took it in, they remembered. It didn't need replacing, but they gave me prices for a new fan belt for when it did so I knew what Expense I'd have to make later down the track. Really impressed! Also very friendly and efficient service. Only thing I'd say is I'd like them to call before any extra expenses were made on my car - they were minor (only an extra $50), but would've been great so I wasn't stressing about it during the day.
