After that transition, I felt disconnected from the communication and unsure of what to expect throughout the process. I also made every payment on time and paid my legal fees in full before my case was resolved. Because I fulfilled my financial obligations as agreed, I expected consistent communication, thorough preparation, and a clear understanding of the possible outcomes throughout my representation. My experience was disappointing because I felt unprepared for court, and I did not feel my concerns or the information I had gathered were fully presented or discussed. During the hearing, I was left with the impression that my attorney was not familiar with important details of my situation, and I left court without understanding why certain arguments were or were not made on my behalf. I also specifically asked about the potential costs of house arrest before court and understood that I would not have additional daily monitoring fees. After sentencing, I learned that I would be responsible for paying $8 per day while on electronic monitoring. While I fully accept responsibility for my own actions and the consequences of my case, I wish I had received clearer communication about the possible outcomes, the financial obligations, and what to realistically expect before making decisions and paying for legal representation. I understand that no attorney can guarantee a specific outcome, and I was never expecting guarantees. What I was expecting was clear communication, preparation, and strong advocacy. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I left feeling that my case could have been handled with greater attention, preparation, and communication. Although I respect that every case is different and that outcomes ultimately rest with the court, I believe clients deserve to feel informed, prepared, and genuinely represented throughout the process. He was able to get the expungement quickly, had it notarized and even went to the Secretary of State to have an apostille put on it (which other countries require for authentication) and mailed it to my attorney in my current country. Deeply Disappointing Experience - Proceed with Caution…read more My oldest sister solely and secretively engaged attorney Chris Jeter for estate planning, expecting fairness and professionalism for my parents who didn't even make the request. Instead, the documents he produced placed one sibling (my sister) in sole control of everything (trustee, executor, power of attorney, health care decisions) while sidelining the others. This structure ran completely counter to my parents' clearly stated wishes for equal treatment among their three children. Even more troubling, Jeter continued with a meeting despite my father (who is 90 years old) twice stating he did not want to proceed. That total disregard for my father and mother left us with the impression that one sibling's agenda was prioritized over our parents' actual voice not to mention borderline elder abuse and coercion. My father was angry when forced into a Zoom meeting by Jeter, my sister and her second husband. The documents he created also contained red flags: "Gift equalization" language that could be used to reclassify legitimate loans as gifts. Waivers of bond and reporting, removing normal safeguards and accountability. No checks or balances, essentially consolidating all authority into one person's hands. Estate planning should protect families and reflect the true intent of the clients. In our case, these drafts would have increased conflict and stripped away fairness. I was so concerned by his conduct that I filed a complaint with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission. I cannot recommend this attorney and urge others seeking balanced estate planning to look elsewhere.
