Made a reservation online for dinner on a Thursday night, arrived just on time. We used the free valet service, walked in and were seated immediately. We got queso as our appetizer, which came with two salsas on the side. Their green salsa was our favorite, the red salsa and queso were okay, 3.5/5ish. I ordered enchiladas for dinner and got another kind of enchiladas to go, can't remember the name of either but they were both delicious! Boyfriend got their fajitas and they were delicious, but the serving of meat was kind of small. Got a Caesar salad to go and was not a big fan of the dressing, definitely not traditional Caesar dressing. Overall- loved the environment, ambiance on the patio was amazing. The enchiladas and green salsa that came out with chips and dips were some of the best I've ever had. Came here on a whim and did not regret it. The food was absolutely remarkable and the vibes are amazing. We chose to sit on the patio where the roof can sometimes be open, closed, or partially open. Food was great and the drinks were solid--no complaints there. Everything tasted good and the overall vibe was nice. But charging $2 for Tajín on a margarita rim is wild. That's something most places include or charge way less for, so it definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Had a nice lunch here during Happy Hour. I wasn't keen on their margarita or Paloma. I don't usually like frozen drinks but my husband's frozen seasonal margarita was a lot nicer than my two drinks. I did finish off with an Espresso martini which was the best one. Complementary chips and salsa to start off the meal, we got some guac and tried their fundido - which I enjoyed. We were already getting full before the mains even came out, got the redfish tacos and steak enchiladas. The tacos didn't wow me but the enchiladas were enjoyable. Tried Jose recently and really enjoyed parts of the meal. I highly recommend the ceviche and the Guava Pink mocktail -- both were fresh, flavorful, and refreshing. The tetelas were good but not great for me. They could have used a bit more flavor or juiciness and felt slightly on the dry side for my taste. Big shoutout to our server and the staff -- they were really kind and accommodating. We were a little pressed for time since I had tickets to a play, and they did their best to get our food out quickly so I could eat and make it on time. My wife, daughter and I came her for lunch. The decor is very nice, I enjoyed the vibe right away. To start they give chips and green salsa to the table for free which is always a welcome surprise! As far as drinks my wife has the frozen mango margarita, and I had the smoked tequila old fashion led and switched the Tequila out for Mezcal which ended up being a $2 up-charge that the waitress did not mention. The Quesadilla is a good portion especially for a kid. The kids menu also is interactive and comes with crayons so the kids can be entertained which is always a plus! The Pork Belly tacos were ok but the portion for the price was disappointing. I enjoyed the flavor of the rice and beans. The Ribeye Bowl was good, they keep all ingredients in separate areas of the dish. I felt there should have been a little more rice but overall it was a good dish. The waitress disappeared for a while, I wanted hot sauce for my tacos and my daughter wanted sour cream for her quesadilla but once the food was delivered to the table she never came back to check on how everything came out. Came for my dads bday dinner. This place is loud! Not only from table conversations but they also had a live musician. I couldn't hear any convos at my table. I decided on the suiza enchiladas though im not a fan of shredded chicken but nothing else looked tempting to me from the menu. The dish came out first but it was cold. I ate here on a Saturday afternoon and was genuinely surprised by how disappointing the experience was. The food was incredibly bland. I ordered the fajitas, and not a single component had any flavor. The meat was bland, the beans were bland, the rice was bland, and even the cheese seemed to have no flavor whatsoever. I found myself looking for salt, which is something I've never done at a Mexican restaurant in my life. The fresh corn tortillas tasted more like cardboard or paper than fresh tortillas. The service was also slow throughout the meal. We repeatedly had to ask for additional chips, and it often felt like we were forgotten. Parking is another inconvenience. Your options are essentially valet parking or trying to find street parking nearby. To make matters worse, I was informed that paying with a credit card would result in an additional 4% charge. In an era when most people pay with cards, passing that cost directly to customers feels nickel-and-dime and left a bad impression. The portion sizes were small, the food lacked flavor, the service was slow, and the added credit card surcharge was the final straw. There are simply too many excellent Mexican restaurants in Dallas to spend time and money here. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

A great family friendly restaurant with plenty of room for strollers or high chairs. The covered patio was lovely with a fountain. The dishes are on the higher end which is obvious with where it's located. The ribeye bowl ($22) had great quality but the portion seemed small. Restaurant assesses an undisclosed 3% credit card surcharge, which is actually closer to 4% because they then calculate tax and tip on top of that. It's not anywhere on the menu, their website, or OpenTable details. Also, their POS charges tax at 8.5% instead of 8.25%...a tiny difference per diner but adds up to several thousand dollars of money in someone's pocket at the end of the year. They say reservations are highly encouraged, but then require a credit card guarantee of $15 per person when making that reservation, and no cancellations allowed within a day. So if you are a party of 8 and something comes up even with 20 hours notice, they can now charge you $120. In my opinion, at a restaurant cannot afford to serve its diners without resorting to hidden 3% surcharges or forcing people to make guarantees, perhaps it needs to be revisiting its operating model. The thing that they nail is the decor and ambiance. If I just wanted a place to sit down and hang out and maybe have a few beers, this is great. I've dined here twice now, one's with a group of 16 and one's with a group of 7. One time the food was great and the other time it was just okay. Both times the service was lacking and it took an excessive amount of time for finished items to be taken away after the meal and even longer for the check to be brought. The biggest irony to me is that they are part of the Sapphire Reserve Curated Tables program, then charge 3% to even use the card there. read more

In reality, this meal was a 3.5 for me sadly. I would love to start by saying the restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside, it felt like we were being whisked away to a resort in Mexico, and our waiter was extremely kind, patient, and explained all the food perfectly. The short version is that everything our waiter offered as a Chef's Special, not seen on the menu, was absolutely fantastic. The aguachile and Texas peach salad were truly phenomenal eating experiences. The shrimp aguachile was super fresh and bright and tossed in habanero ash making it all black like squid ink. What a cool eating experience. The Texas peach arugula salad was so refreshing and the bits of toasted quinoa provided an excellent crunch. The goat cheese spread on the bottom of the plate made me want to lick the bowl and the dressing it was tossed made it one of the best salads I ever ate. However the tacos I had, the Tacos de Tacha and Carbon were basic and meh. What a sad departure. The tacos de tacha is the chef's creation that changes regularly and this week was the chef's take on a Big Mac in a taco. I'm not joking. It tasted fine. But honestly it just felt like it was trying to compete with velvet taco or something. It felt gimmicky and uninspired. My steak taco was also just fine. Felt thrown together last minute. I've had better tacos at a gas station. If you want to know what José does the best, it's the green salsa that comes with the chips. I wish I could order it by the bucket. read more

Brunch at Jose never misses! Yummy cocktails (and mocktails), plenty of brunch and lunch options, and the star of the show (in my opinion) one of the BEST patios in Dallas! I always start with the Ceasar salad. It sounds simple, but the combo of hearts of palm, watermelon radish, and fresh cheese is pure perfection. On my recent visit, we had the total and chilaquiles for entree's. Both were good but the concha made the torta a little messy to eat. Everything else was great though. Service was attentive without hovering, and the covered patio made the Texas Sumner heat bearable. I look forward to trying dessert one day. I was here at José for a private party with free food and drinks so i didn't get to sample some of their normal menu items. We were served buffet style of tacos, pork pastor, chicken cheese enchiladas, refried black beans, rice and other fix'ins. They also were walking around with appetizers that were really good and no i didn't try the tuna stuff, but others said it was good. The best part is the bar, only cause they have a great selection of tequilas and i mean great. A whole lot of additive free choices like Lalo, Ocho, Mijenta and most of all Fortaleza. I was so impressed i just had to get the Fortaleza ($17.00). Yes it is a little expensive but when you've been lookin for this for years you just need to go for it and i was glad i did. It was great. The employees here were very attentive and very friendly. I would like to go back and try some of their other menu items and get me some more Fortaleza LOL. read more

José has a fun, colorful, and busy, ambiance that just works. It feels like a local neighborhood restaurant and is located fairly close to Love Field. Parking is severely limited but a Valet service is provided. The manager of the restaurant came out and visited tables to ensure quality service. However, our waitress seemed distracted and was typing on their phone while they were standing in front of our table immediately before taking our orders on two occasions. The queso was a good appetizer and you can tell it was homemade with heavy cream. The green salsa is good and fresh. The red salsa is acidic and served warm which wasn't bad but definitely not what I expected. The chips were bland and took away from the fresh salsa. We would've liked to add salt to the chips but there were not salt and pepper shakers on the table. The house margarita and Paloma were fantastic with generous portions of tequila (and mezcal) I recommend the house Paloma made with Mezcal or the Smoked Old Fashioned made with tequila (trust me!) Unfortunately, the main courses were underwhelming and felt very heavy. We tried the Baja Tacos, Enchilada Suizas, Park Cities Enchiladas, and Tacos Al Carbon. Where we expected something fresh or innovative but the entrees were smothered in sauce and "thick". The Tacos al Carbon were good in flour but the Baja Tacos were overly fishy and oily from the fryer. One of the Baja tacos also was missing the ash sauce. Josè is a fun vibe and would be a great place to grab some cocktails and appetizers with friends but I would not come back for a full dinner. read more

This is my second time here, my first time I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and service. This time I came back with my mom from out of town and was embarrassed and disappointed to not even be acknowledged for 20 minutes. We watched the patio tables receive full service while being the only people in the dining room and watching servers sit down and look the other way. We never even receive water. Eventually we were forced to walk out and again, no one said anything to us. I am a bartender myself and extremely patient and understanding and I am extremely disappointed in this experience here. Just went there for lunch with friends. I hadn't been there in a couple of years and I was looking forward to it because I remembered that I had enjoyed it very much. Sadly, I was sorely disappointed. The guacamole had a funny taste, probably way too much lime and not enough salt. There were no salt or pepper shakers at the table so we couldn't add any to it. My Park Cities enchiladas were just bad. There was very little meat in them and lots of bites filled with grizzle. The sauce was supposed to be a chipotle crema, but frankly tasted more like squash. Bleh! I ended up leaving half of the plate and the server didn't even bat an eye and ask if I liked them or not when she picked up my plate. Really good Mexican food, with a large menu that includes grilled meats, tacos, and traditional Mexican fare. Our service was excellent, and it is one of the few places where I have not had to ask for extra salsa! Very good guacamole. The chicken mole was exceptional, with a great smoky, chocolatey flavor. Was visiting Dallas for a family event and researched places to visit. Selected José after reading it was nominated for a James Beard Award. We got there right for the end of the lunch hours. Ordered the soup and salad lunch special and the carnitas de olla. My personal favorite out of the three was the crab and mango salad. I have to say it tasted amazing! I would have never thought of that combo and now I want to have it as often as I can. The totopos and salsa were delicious as well. I'm a chips and salsa girl and I have to say these were definitely on the top 3 I have had. We finished with a cafe de olla that was so delicious that it didn't need sugar or milk. As we were leaving we were offered a sample of the house mezcal that has just been launched recently. Great addition to their offering.
