My son recently had an interaction with Shelton Smith after a power pole was installed where he and my daughter in law would be living. After years of trying to find answers in regards to his health and get life started up again, they were eager to get settled in. Sadly, the work done by Mr. Smith's crew left a lot to be desired, and Mr. Smith took it upon himself to create family drama, push his way past my son, and then berate him with threats of physical violence and death has he stood his ground. You don't get to be a bully and then act like a saint. Shelton Smith had no right to assault my son, let alone enter the property and begin screaming death threats and obscenities in his direction. When you provide a service, you provide it with quality and done in the right manner. You follow the specifications. You communicate. If you are incapable of doing so in a mature manner without threatening lives: you leave. When you fail to respect the wishes of another, particularly around their domicile (a new address had already been established with 911, utilities were to be put in their name, it was THEIR domicile): you're in the wrong. Shelton is a cowboy ready to deal out justice on a whim. I've seen the footage where my son repeatedly asks him to leave the property and Shelton screams into his face. Of course my son is going to call him out on it, of course he's going to highlight an abusive bully when he sees one. No matter what was said: nothing gave Shelton Smith the right to throw my son to the ground, flip him over, and repeatedly bash on the back of his head. Nothing. My son didn't have health insurance at the time and was already under immense physical pain. He wanted Shelton to leave so the family could talk and things could be deescalated. No power pole was worth Shelton's behavior, and he should be ashamed of himself. If you enjoy drama and working with those who will use violence to resolve conflicts instead of maturity, by all means hire Shelton Smith/Journeyman Electric. My family hired Shelton Smith to install a power pole for a new service. Not only was the work itself poorly done, including loose "watertight" connectors, metal shavings left in conductive spaces, etc. But the owner also assaulted me, requiring police intervention. This was at a new Domicile we were establishing, with 911 paperwork being done for our new address. The owner hung up on me after saying he would be right there when I had explicitly told him not to come. He claims (as you can see in his responses), he had permission from our in-laws to enter. Yet it was me on-site at our domicile dealing with his threats and poor attitude. This isn't how you provide service to clients. After an initial bout of arguments where I never threatened him, and asked him to leave... He proceeded to push his way past me and get up in my face and continue screaming when I blocked his entry. "You don't know what you're about to unleash in me" / "you'll have to drag me out of here" / "I'm going to put you six feet under": these were just some of the things screamed in my face. At that point it wasn't about the quality of the work anymore. It was about that he crossed the boundary by entering whenever I had explicitly asked him not to in order to defuse the situation. He had escalated far beyond any reasonable norms. You can see in his response review that he doubles down on both violence, calling me crazy, etc. Nobody would tolerate that, and I never threatened him: I asked him to leave. I felt justified in continuously asking him to leave. Finally reached the point where I called him out on being abusive. And that's when he opted to take me to the ground. Leaving a large bump on the back of my head, multiple scratches, my glasses broken. We packed up and left the property next day, as we no longer felt safe. I have this recorded. Really poor quality of work. Double check what they've done before they leave, and make sure they clean up their mess. Wish I had gone with another vendor. They missed things and the follow up work done by another fella revealed that the bare minimum was done, particularly behind fixtures. read more
