I have been a loyal customer of Jovi Salon for over two years, returning regularly for appointments and trusting the salon with my hair. That history makes this experience especially disappointing. A few weeks before my appointment, I had my service changed to a move-up only because I did not need a shampoo. During that conversation, I was never told that I would need to arrive with completely dry hair. Had anyone explained that requirement, I simply would have come with dry hair. On the day of my appointment, I called the salon before leaving because I wanted to confirm that arriving with damp hair would be okay. No one answered, so I left for my appointment. While I was driving, the salon returned my call, and I answered. I explained that I would be arriving approximately four minutes late, which was still within their stated five-minute grace period, and I wanted to confirm that my damp hair would not be an issue. That is when I was told the service could not be performed. This was not a situation where I ignored instructions or failed to show up. It was a communication issue caused by information that was never provided to me when the appointment was modified. When I spoke with the salon manager, Leah, I hoped we could have a constructive conversation about the misunderstanding. Instead, I felt like I was repeatedly interrupted while she focused on explaining the policy rather than listening to my concerns. Although she ultimately waived the cancellation fee, she also informed me that I would no longer be allowed to book appointments at the salon. After being a loyal client for over two years, being dismissed over what was clearly a misunderstanding was incredibly disappointing. There was no effort to acknowledge that the communication from the salon had been incomplete or to work toward a reasonable resolution. This experience also brought to mind other concerns I have had over the years. On multiple visits, I was seated at the center table rather than in one of the traditional styling stations while paying the same premium prices as other clients. While I understand there may be operational reasons for the seating arrangements, it often left me feeling like I wasn't receiving the same salon experience. Additionally, there were many appointments where my stylist was working on two or three clients at the same time. I recognize that this may be common practice in some salons, but as a client paying premium prices, it often felt like my appointment was fragmented. Instead of receiving focused attention throughout my visit, there were frequent interruptions while other clients were being serviced. Over time, it left me feeling that the level of attention and overall experience did not reflect the price I was paying. I understand that businesses need policies, but those policies should be supported by clear communication, consistency, and a willingness to work with loyal clients when misunderstandings occur. Instead, after trusting this salon with my hair for over two years, I was told I could no longer book appointments because of a misunderstanding that could have been avoided with better communication. I appreciated that the cancellation fee was waived. However, I was surprised that instead of treating this as a misunderstanding and clarifying expectations for future appointments, the solution was to permanently refuse future appointments. I don't write negative reviews lightly, especially for a business I've supported for years. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unheard, undervalued, and unwelcome. I was recommended the salon through Reddit and they were actually very quick to respond. The salon is very hipster, slightly retro, but very bright. They have really soft couches if you're there to wait for someone else getting their hair done, and just everything is so aesthetically pleasing. I showed up for a 15 minute consultation with Aloura. We went over everything we wanted and she gave me a quote of what to expect, payment wise. She did project a little higher in case we needed more products, which I appreciated so I wasn't thrown off at the final payment. Day of service, she was really nice, really meticulous, and very knowledgeable about the questions I had. She was patient, and she even brought over a little snack cart to choose from which was really fun. PLEASE - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Claire did not pay close attention and left the perm solution on too long and I had to go find her! Then she didn't use the two containers of neutralizer as I had 154 rollers in my hair. Towards the end she was rushed because she was running late for her next client and she tried pushing me off on someone else. Management offered a small credit and product samples!! This place is so cute inside. I found the salon through Instagram from another account I follow. To book an appointment you have to text or call their salon number. I saw Mea for a blonding appointment. She was super nice and did a wonderful job. It can be a bit loud with all of the hair dryers and things going so at times it was a little hard to hear what Mea was saying to me. I definitely recommend this place especially if you live in VB. read more

A friend of mine booked appointment requiring $300 (50% down)went to appointment and had advised prior and reminded stylist that she has an allergic reaction to bleach but took a Claritin so should be no problem. The owner/manager heard and asked that my friend sigh a waiver of liability. No problem. Hair was done beautifully, friend purchased product, nothing about the interaction w/stylist was strange while in the chair. Friend saw manager and stylist talking. friend wanted to get next appointment booked. She was then told that because of the liability, and she upset the salon, they were not wanting her to return. Friend had also given $180 tip. So my friend spent $780 dollars....And then was told not to return! She about fell over w/disbelief! It was beyond rude and embarrassing. What a poorly run establishment! The tip should have at least been refunded and the product given as a gift, because literally nothing happened during that appointment to warrant a never come back directive. And the weird thing is the exact same stylist told my friend that another client had had a reaction and the fire department had to be called, and yes, they continue to do that client's hair. read more

Jovi Salon is as breath of fresh air. The moment you walk in to the salon you are greeted with joy and kindness. If you are having a bad day, just walk into that salon. You will feel loved, appreciated, and safe. Rachel has been doing my hair for the last few years and SAVED my hair. Her education and being so honest about the whole process helped me understand my future goal expectations. My natural hair is so healthy and the cutie head extensions just enhance it beautifully. Every girl in the salon is EXCELLENT. How do I know? When clients leave their stations they are elated, excited, and so happy. It is a joy to see when I am sitting in the chair. It is so convenient you can text to make an appt and share photos of what you are looking for and they can set you up with the best person for you. I asked for highlights that were blended and not close to the roots of my head.. I had previous pink in my hair and was told that it could not be removed when not even an attempt to remove it.. she added a whole bunch of different toners to my hair to try to cancel the pink out... it look 5 hours to do this.. and $317.. she said "we are trusting the process" I was very respectful and understanding of what she had to do and I have saved for months for this and I was very upset with the overall outcome of the hair. read more

I am an older woman with curly gray/blonde/white should length hair. After several years without a professional cut I decided to do a little research and decided (based on reviews) to make an appt. with Jovi Salon. From the beginning the process of making an appt. was simple. I described my hair and was asked to send pictures via text. I was then given a stylist based on my type of hair. Madeline was kind, knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do with my hair to get the results I wanted. She took her time and listened and when I left I was very happy with the results. Even better, two weeks later when I style my own hair I still love it! It is nearly impossible to be unhappy in the salon's upbeat environment. Madeline also recommended a salt spray for my hair which does wonders for the curl on day two and three. I would definitely recommend the salon and most definitely for those curly women (and girls) in need of someone who "gets it" Madeline is a professional who has the "touch". Jovi Salon is the best! The vibe is open and welcoming, and staff are all knowledgeable about a variety of different services, and they genuinely enjoy being there. I have challenging naturally dark, very curly hair, but I love keeping it light and playing between vivids and natural colors. Wynter is the best at this! She plans your goals not only with day 1, walk out of the salon feeling great in mind, but also with 6-8 weeks from your appointment in mind so that you always feel that you're looking your best. She's always been able to make my hair dreams come true while keeping my hair super healthy. It's a collaborative feeling in the salon as well, with the different sylists encouraging each other. I couldn't be happier with finding/ booking at Jovi Salon. There's not enough good things to say about the stylists as well as the environment. Liz did a color correction on me to start the process of going black to blonde. We agreed to a copper color as a transition stage at my first appointment to not risk the health of my hair, the results came out so beautiful that I'm going to now stick with copper for a least a few more appointments! Liz was gentle with my tender scalp, informative, kind, honest, and overall just everything I could ask for in a stylist. Everyone in the salon gave off great energy; the salon was beyond beautiful, clean, and spunky! I also have to shout out Katie even though I wasn't serviced by her. Katie was servicing her curly haired clients next to me and I was eavesdropping because my stepdaughter has curly hair, Katie was SO informative and a master with the curls.
