We went to the church's "Living Nativity" on Sun., Dec. 17, 2017, per a reccommendation from my co-worker. Plus the event was on my Facebook scroll. The event was very well organized by such nice people (parishioners). They all kept things moving, without being bossy. You basically check in (the event is free!) and then get a ticket w letter(s) on them. You then go into the sanctuary, watch an overview of the program and the opening 'Adam and Eve' act in a sweet short play scene with great backdrops. The young actors were no kidding, really GOOD! After that, you wait for your ticket letters to be shown on the movie screen then proceed to the lobby for further instruction. In the lobby, is a volunteer holding up your ticket letter(s). Listen up! Since the event brings sooo many people (I heard one parishioner say that they had 2,300 people the night prior!!!!), it takes a while to go to each station (95% of them are outside). But each station is only about 5 minutes max. Plan to dress warmly and spend about 1 1/2 hours total. Free hot chocolate and cookies when you are finished. Such a wonderful and sweet event (yes, I teared up a few times) to further get you into the miracle of Christ plus magic and beauty of the holiday season!

I joined him today, per his request. This church is beautiful and humongous ... a bit too over the top for me though, with the large screens (you can follow bible verses, readings, and song lyrics), concert type performances and loudness on the microphones. As much as I love music, I prefer a talking service, with minimal singing. I'll go again to support my son but I'll stick with my little, much quieter parish. Lovely people but not for me.

It's a place that truly loves God and stands firmly on His Word. The pastor teaches the Gospel clearly and doesn't shy away from speaking truth... even when it challenges you to look at your own heart. Those messages are exactly what's needed today, and they always point back to growing closer to Jesus. Another thing we love is the kids and youth ministries. My kiddos absolutely love going! It's a fun, welcoming environment, but more importantly, the teachers genuinely care about guiding kids and teens toward a real relationship with Jesus. If you're looking for a God-loving church that teaches the Bible, this is a good place.

The sanctuary is gorgeous, with huge Tiffany stained glass windows throughout. It also has an excellent organ that's about 70 years old with true exposed pipes that give out an amazing sound. The small choir also features some local professional musicians, and they perform interesting and unusual pieces, including semi-regular Evensong services. Due to its age, the surrounding graveyard, while small, is facinating with a number of Revolutionary era graves.The congregation has dwindled significantly in recent years, but those who remain are friendly and surprisingly socially open-minded, even by Episcopal standards. If looking for a place to worship in the Salem/Woodstown area, this is a good choice.

The Archidiocese of Philadelphia has put the building on the market, hoping to sell it. It is located in an extremely hot real estate market and will undoubtedly be converted into some sort of housing. The former parishioners of Immaculate Conception are now considered to belong to St. Michael's Parish at 1442 N. 2nd Street, a little over a half mile away.

Unfortunately, the Masses have been cut back to one on Sundays (10 a.m.) and one on holydays (12 Noon) but the location is convenient to the burgeoning gentifying areas of Northern Liberties and Fishtown. The congregation (of which I was a member for 30 years before moving away) is friendly and welcoming.
