With a mostly sceptical mindset, my first appointment with Dr. Lilly turned my into an acupuncture believer. I got out of bed the next morning with lessened pain and stiffness. My neck hurt less. When dressing, I lifted my right leg--which seldom cooperates--into my pants fairly easily. Then I went grocery shopping, where I walked the aisles with less back pain than usual. Next I washed the fruit and vegetables and put away the groceries without having to sit down in between. And that was with impeding rain. Now I look forward to my next appointment with optimisim. I have posted this on Google and FB because I truly hope that I can influence 1 person to call Dr. Joyce. I apologize that it is so long, but there is no way to describe how I feel in a couple of words. If you are reading my reviews, it's probably because you are in some kind of pain and it's a last resort. Sound familiar? Dr. Joyce has a remarkable gift that you rarely find in another human being. She really cares about helping you get better. She doesn't just listen to you so that she can explain how her cookie-cutter approach will benefit you. No 2 people are the same and no 2 treatment sessions are the same. I've had 3 sessions with her and she has made such a difference in how I feel that I just paid her in advance for 10 visits for myself and 10 visits for my wife who will also greatly benefit from being treated by Dr. Joyce. I am now taking 9 different prescriptions along with every doctor's guarantee that my heart condition and COPD can not get better. Imagine that. As long as the meds that they learned about in school to treat the symptoms are working, they are happy, but Dr. Joyce treats the cause as does my new Integrative Cardiologist. In addition to feeling alert and having more energy, she killed my appetite and relieved the "arthritis" pain in my thumbs and my shoulder so far. All I keep saying to my wife this morning, as I rotate my shoulder as it is supposed to rotate, is "she fixed my friggin shoulder". Seriously, no bull, I have had a "rotator cuff" injury in my left shoulder for the past 20 years, or so I thought. When my shoulder was hurting, I had trouble lifting my left arm up and over my head to clasp my fingers. Certain movements would feel like a knife in my shoulder. Throwing a baseball became so painful that I learned to throw without using my shoulder. I had pain EVERY SINGLE DAY. During my session today, I mentioned it to Dr. Joyce and she went to work on my shoulder. I have had Chiropractors, Orthopedists, and massage therapists attend to my shoulder and the results were 2 injections, 1 prescription and a partridge in the pear tree. Seriously, within a few minutes, she massaged deeper than any deep tissue massage that I ever had and then inserted a couple of her "magic" needles into the twisted muscle (3,000 year history of them working) for a minute or so. I actually felt something happening in my shoulder, and I told her that. She told me that I was supposed to feel it. She knew exactly what was happening. When she was done, I had FULL MOTION in my left shoulder. Email me if you don't believe me, but I woke up and the pain is GONE!! The muscles surrounding the shoulder are a little sore as she told me they would be, but I just threw baseballs against the wall as hard as I can. She explained that the pain that I was feeling was the tension in my shoulder muscles. She relieved the pressure and POOF, the pain is gone. I know it's not supposed to work like that, but it did. Next week we can work on my MCL that I have had 3 injections into. Dr. Joyce will help you put your body in proper balance. I never believed in all that Ying and Yang or anything that I could not see or prove, but the Doctors get rich and I don't get better. 3 weeks and I promise you that I feel better both physically and mentally. I Have not used my inhaler in 2 weeks. I have been to Acupuncturists on 1/2 dozen occasions for pain, but never to just feel better. Thank you Doc!! read more

I recently began seeing Joyce to treat tinnitus (constant ringing in the ear) after she was recommended by my doctor, who specializes in otolaryngology and neurotology. I was a bit surprised that acupuncture was suggested, though there's no cure for tinnitus and my doctor said that some patients had positive results from Joyce's treatment. My condition was the result of the added pressure in my ear from flying with a cold (the decongestant I took didn't do it's job), so it came on acutely. After having no positive results from taking steroids that were prescribed in an effort to reduce possible swelling in my middle and inner ear, three doctors basically said there was nothing they could do for me. Only time would tell. Maybe the constant ringing will stop, maybe I'd get used to it. One consistent piece of medical insight was that stress and sleeplessness were known to exacerbate the problem, which is a bit of a dilemma, as these things are both direct results of the condition. So with this diagnosis in-hand, I went to Joyce with an open mind and an optimism that she could help. My doctor said to give it five or six sessions and, if there was no change, then it likely won't work. I've reached that point and, sadly, the ringing is still there. However, I've decided to continue to see Joyce and here's why... Simply put, she's a wonderful, calming influence. A caring, sincere person who's attitude alone moves me in a positive direction. While I can't know what will happen with my ear, I'm certain that Joyce's treatments reduce my stress level. In addition to focusing her efforts to relieve my tinnitus, she also happily works on muscle aches and other injuries, which I've accumulated from years of athletic pursuits. While I'm hoping for a miracle, my life is better for time spent under Joyce's attentive care. There are many things about healing that Western doctors don't yet understand and I'm grateful to have a doctor who recognizes these limitations and puts the patient first by prescribing whatever will potentially help. Acupuncture has been known to have amazing results for a wide range of issues, from pain management and stress reductions, to improving the results of fertility treatments. I visited one other practitioner prior to finding Joyce and didn't return, so it's important to appreciate that not all acupuncturists are the same. As a yoga practitioner, I embrace the philosophy that a perfect practice is one where you leave feeling better than when you arrived. My wife was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease at an early age and various other illnesses later; as a result, she suffers daily with constant pain. She had been looking for an alternative to the pain medication her doctors were prescribing her and was referred to Dr. Lilly's practice by a friend/ co-worker. My wife is always eager to try anything that won't result in side-effects or liver failure in the future. Her first appointment with Dr. Lilly was about four weeks ago. The results were so effective in curtailing her pain that she has seen Dr. Lilly twice a week, every week since then. I suffer from bouts of insomnia, pain in my shoulders, and infrequent chest pain--to name just a few. Her demeanor is jubilant and inviting. She has the sweetest disposition and talked me through my fear of needles--yes, a grown man like me is very afraid of needles; it is all about the pinch. I felt like she cared about the comments I made about myself, how I felt, and what brought me to her practice. We spoke about spirituality and literature and about meditation and calming the self. Now, I have to reiterate that I am a hard skeptic and went in doubting anything would resolve my physical ailments, however superficial they may be. I can now admit that I was wrong and my skepticism unwarranted. After Dr. Lilly's acupuncture treatment, I felt whole again, rested, and alleviated. My pain was gone and my body felt balanced, a thing I have not felt in a very long time. So, to conclude--I can go on and on about how great Dr. Lilly is (she really is!), but you will have to try it for yourself; skeptics like me live and thrive on empiricism and throw hearsay out the window--I implore you, make an appointment; go and see Dr. Lilly! I have gone to acupuncturists for back pain, allergies, insomnia, etc, and all have been treated with success, although not all were permanent relieves. In the past few years, I developed joint pains, specifically in my knuckles. I had gone to another acupuncturist and after a few months, she was able to decrease the pain a bit. Then she moved all the way to the West Coast. I did not seek another acupuncturist because the pain was then bearable, and I just couldn't dedicate another few months to treat the pain. A few months later, the pain intensified. I wasn't able to open jars/bottles. I couldn't even use chopsticks. I had only 2 sessions with Joyce. After the first one, the pain was gone for around 2 weeks. Not only was the pain gone, my knuckles were no longer stiff! A few weeks later, the stiffness came back, and not long after, the pain. Oh, it was not even ¼ as much as before. I went back to Joyce again. It has been over 6 months now since my 2nd treatment. My joints are now a little stiff and there's a little pain when I press into my joints, but I can open bottles and use chopsticks with ease. I am extremely happy with the results. What makes Joyce different from the other acupuncturists I visited was that she treated my entire well-being. When she placed needles in my body, she would let me know what they were for, whether she was opening channels or treating the pain locally. My chiropractor that had been treating my rotator suggested that I try acupuncture in addition to her manipulations to get the swelling down and promote circulation. So I went to see Joyce for a treatment at Yin & Tonic. I've done acupuncture before but more for headaches and sprains, never for loosening up tight tendons. The treatment included needles and electric stim for 20-minutes... and it was not only effective for loosening up my shoulder but the swelling decreased and my range increased with significantly less pain. I have been going to Joyce Lilly for stress/anxiety/emotional heaviness since last year on an almost weekly basis. Each time I go, she takes the time to find out what's going on in my life and really gets a sense of what exactly my body needs.
