On the topic of rate though, I accidentally went to the wrong storage facility with my reservation and they were shocked at the rate, and said they couldn't even get close to that, saying their cheapest unit was $20 more a month, and they couldn't lock in the rate, it would only be for 3 months. Now I have a couple health issues going on, a chronic cough & an autoimmune disease. From pretty much day one of moving into the house my coughing had gotten worse. *Six months later I was coughing so bad I could barely breathe. *I t started to notice black stuff on the ceilings around the trim. *We decided to contact a mold removal company & have them come take a look & tell us if this was indeed mold. *I called 3 different companies. *We decided on Old Oak Environmental - Matt Morgan * He told my husband we need to have another company do the inspection and he recommended Lance at Lone Star. He wants paid first and will be out in a couple days. 5 days went by before he made it. *My husband had to call to get the first report. Finally we get our report. Yes, it's mold! Fine let's get it out. Later my husband gets a call from Matt. How about next Monday? *A crew of 3 plus a manager show up. They come in and go straight to work in the master bedroom. No heads up just start throwing things in black bags and tossing it all in the corner of the room. *I have collectible glass dishes, porcelain dolls, fur coat all thrown in a big black leaf bag. I'm freaking out. I had no time to collect my clothes!! I had to fly to Denver CO to be with my son who has cancer. I don't have time to straighten this all out!! I'm a mess to say the least. *My husband is trying to explain to me what is going on. We now have plastic walls and ceilings! We have no AC, no hot water. So he had to go buy window AC units and I'm living in an RV with my dogs. *When I got back I asked the manager, Jason, if he could tell me where & when the mold came from & he said this mold has been here a long while I am pretty sure it's been here longer than you guys. * Well the insurance company denied our claim. They said it was too old! Really? You think? *So my husband has been calling and texting both Lance and Matt trying to find out when we will get our report on our house. Is the mold all gone or not? Shoot they wanted their money right away, where is our report? *Two weeks later I decide I am going to call them. They don't have my number. This is Matt. Hi Matt this is Jeanette Hasenkamp I was wondering where our mold report was? "Oh shoot haven't you gotten that from Lance yet? I sent that to him a week ago." Let me call him. *Lance this is Jeanette Hasenkamp. I was wondering where our mold report was. "Oh you don't have that yet?" Here we go again. Nope! *He calls his secretary to see if she knows anything. Two hours later I text him. Did you find it? Still looking he says. So this time I told him my attorney needs it. Since our insurance agent denied our claim. He texted it to us in 30 seconds! *So this report said the contractor must give the report to us within 10 days of completing the work & they have to sign it stating they did!! Well they didn't! On the form: Old Oak finished the work on 09/27/2025 received report on 10/03/2025 *Lone Star stated they gave me their report on 10/04/2025 *I didn't even talk to either of them until 10/28/2025 & my husband tried to get ahold of both of them for 2 weeks before that & they ignored His calls & emails!! *Matt tells me he has a friend who is an independent adjuster. He will call him up & have him come look at the house. A week later I asked Matt if he talked to his adjuster friend yet? Oh he is out of town. He is going to call me when he gets back. I asked him if we could get copies of the pictures Jason took while they were working on the mold so I can show the insurance adjuster and also for my records? He will have Jason get those for me. Two weeks later, nothing. *He never planned on doing any of it. I have no clue why they lied to us, why they ignored our requests or why they wouldn't give us copies of the pictures of our house. *One thing that really makes me mad is why did they have to staple plastic into my wood floors and use painters tape on my trim around the doors and ceiling. Now we have to remove every piece of trim around the doors and ceiling because we won't match it. It's a modular for Christ sake. They use cheap material!! Their excuse? It's the only thing that holds up the plastic! So now we are up to $30,000 in construction materials.
