Emerald Coast Painters

(3 reviews)

When I hired Emerald Coast (not the company I thought I was hiring unfortunately--my mistake), I…read moreasked them that as they did the work to please let me know of anything outside the contract that needed to be addressed, because I wanted it done right. I knew the front door needed sanding before painting so I requested it. I did NOT know the foot/base of my columns needed sanding. As the professional he should have noticed and discussed it with me at our original meeting. The contract called for two coats on the columns and re-caulk as needed (no sanding because I did not realize it needed it). Painter only did one coat on the columns--I decided to let that slide (stupid me). A couple of days later, I noticed some areas at the base of the columns that did not get painted/caulked AT ALL, and painted over areas that should have been sanded first. Sent pictures to them and requested to get on the schedule for touch-up. That was 4/11. On 4/27 when Jennifer texted me to let me know they were coming I texted back: "Just a word of warning he may need to do some minor washing since it's been a bit." She responded: "No. We don't need to wash anything. If anything we can wipe it down with a rag." On 4/28 (after the severe thunderstorms) Mike showed up with his painter to do the touch up. He immediately jumps into how it is not his responsibility to clean up before he paints (even though it has been over two weeks, plus a storm) that I should have cleaned up myself, or my roofers should have cleaned up (I'm having gutters replaced, and not their mess), and it's not his job to pressure wash like I requested (what?). So, I said, ok then reschedule. Then he proceeded to say that it was probably the roofers that scraped all the paint off to begin with (an area that clearly had been missed--zero new paint). Then I pointed to the area that should have been sanded before painting and said, "No, look at this, it's just your crappy work. And I sent pictures to you before the roofers were even scheduled." Of course he did not like that, he told his painter that they were leaving. Then he says, it is not his job to do restoration work, he was only hired to paint. Then he says (referring to the storm debris) "Look at this shit!" And then starts in on me personally about how I talked down to his crew the entire time they were here before--completely unfounded--I didn't even say two words to them. He said "That's just what you do, you talk down to people" (I asked what he was referring to and he could not answer). Then he starts in about the review process how I made them come out to do the touch up by "dangling a review", (I have been getting auto review requests every couple of days and told Jennifer I would do a review after the job was complete). As they are leaving I asked "So, you are not going to finish the job even though it's paid in full?". Then he starts pulling money out of his wallet and says "Oh, I knew this is what it's about" I mean really? I won't even get into the new weather stripping issue--not done correctly either. :( So here I sit with an unfinished paint job that I will have to do on my own (at 61) or I will have to pay true professional painters do do it the right way. I WON'T be hiring Emerald Coast again!

We had ECP do our entire house. This included shoe molding, doors, and patch and repair. Roughly…read more2200 sq feet, took around 4 days, less than quoted and they had minimal touches after paint. Price was very fair compared to other quotes and I think there quality of paint choice also had a lot to do with that. Very professional and cleaned up everyday as we were living in the house during the experience. Absolutely recommend them to anyone who has painting needs.
