Company statement: "J&S went bankrupt on Dec 1, 2018, and the assets and customer base were acquired by a numbered Ontario company, now doing business as JS Home Services. Any warranties provided by J&S are invalid." I am a customer but they never informed us of this until just now. We have an extended warranty on an air conditioner, as well as a 3-year service plan they failed to honour. J&S had only one HVAC serviceman working who was so incompetent he came here eleven times, never fixed our air conditioning problem, installed simple thermostat wires backwards, then tried to sell us a new furnace. When I called another company for a second opinion, turns out the furnace only needed a small part replaced. Even though they're still around and made a minor name change to JS Home Services, they have likely left numerous customers stranded, as they did us. If you are a homeowner or commercial business, save yourself money and headaches. Do NOT do business with JS Home Services or the owner, Mike Rizzi, in Newmarket ON. read more

PURE SCAM, they charge you by the work not an hour, because the hourly rate will be from $800-$1000. The replacement of sump pump cost me (30 min of labor) $800 + Tax The invoice didn't have a break down what you are paying for, so did it my self: Myers 1/2 sump pump $300 ( I estimated the cost online) Labor $500 per 1/2 hour ($1000 per hour) I will not call them again. This August my A/C unit broke down and I called these guys because they had a large ad in the phone book. The repairman said a capacitor was broken, and he replaced it. He charged $400 for a capacitor that I've since found online for $38. Then he suddenly found that the coolant pressure in the lines was completely gone, and said I had to have them checked to find the leak which would cost $700. This was after he'd been left alone with the unit for a while... It had worked fine up until a day before so I don't know if he let out the coolant. Anyway, the unit didn't cool at all after that and we suffered all through summer, after having paid J&S plumbing $500 Anyway, these guys are crooks and I can't recommend them read more

Had a late night water leak into the basement, called and was assured that a plumber would show up....waited over an hour and called back only to be told that the plumber was "sick" and couldn't show up. Idiots. Call anyone else. Call me! I know nothing about plumbing but at least I'll show up. read more

I called to have a minor plumbing issue addressed and it turned out I did not need any plumbing service but rather "advice". I have no complaints about the service --- the man who came to help seemed more than competent --- but it was rather pricey. I was charged $115 (after being given a $40 "discount"). I can't imagine what it would have cost if I had needed actual plumbing work performed. I am not sure I would call this company again, simply because of the price. read more

BEWARE!!! For a repair of a very easily accessible and fully exposed ABS elbow pipe (PVC pipe cost at Home Depot is $20 max), and about 15 min work, they charged $500+. A technician showed up with an invoice, tricking me to sign a work authorization form prior to work commencement. The problem is that both his mumbling of the job price of $48.50 (twice) and the written amount on the paper were so misleading, that you would really believe in a good deal and honest plumbers! Guess what, this technician all of a sudden, manifested excellent pronunciation of the final price of $485+HST as a Grand finale. Most probably, their technicians undergo a very intensive training on how to cheat customers. STAY AWAY from this bunch of crooks! read more

J&S was recommended to us to provide a quotation on several jobs. The estimate was provided. One of the projects we were told they would be interested in was not quoted. Upon calling I was told they do not provide the service. I tried to call Joe the owner to discuss the quoted work hoping, due to the scale of the job he could do better. After several unreturned messages and further attempts to reach Joe, I was told by staff they were not interested in my job. This is a luxury few businesses can afford these days. I suggest to anyone thinking about requesting J&S to quote on their home they think twice. read more

Called them and it would cost 3x the cost of materials to do the install, so did it myself! OK if you're a billionaire.

They charge by the job with no break down in their invoicing. I foolishly paid $1760.00 for a tap replacement in the laundry room and a toilet, which were both leaking. I have since contacted J & S to have a proper invoice sent to me with the breakdown in items with the cost - I will post later. Their service team were exceptional but I have to wonder how little they are paid by a company that gouges the unknowing consumer. They were quick to respond to my issue and explained the $40 service charge up front which I believed at the time would mean that I had made the right choice for service. Please do more research when contacting a plumber, I would not recommend this company. read more
