We took our neighbor out for lunch, on Friday, recalling what a great experience we had with our son last October. The warmth and efficiency of the staff and our meals were top notch. Instead of heading toward the East side during Coachella, we decided that the eclectic menu here was far superior to unique bite. At 11:15 the place was hopping but we got a great center table. People of all ages love it here. We saw young people ready for concerts and elderly couples and groups. My husband loved the French Dip and he does not usually exclaim with a 5! Our neighbor had the tuna sandwich and side salad. Her sweet petite self had enough to bring half of it home with her. It looked good! My choice was the chicken tarragon on a croissant with those crunchy fries we like so much. Sat down at their bar counter and instead of saying hello they asked me if I was dining in and then told me I couldn't sit at the bar where I wanted because that's where they roll silverware. The restaurant was packed and I didn't wanna sit in the sun by the front door. We arrived a little after 10 on New Year's Day and were seated right away. Since they have Pepsi products, I had water to drink. My dining companions had OJ. We got: Hawaiian Portuguese Sausage Scramble -- basic scramble Very Berry French Toast -- first time having French toast on a croissant. It had good overall flavor and we liked the mixed berry compote. Todd's Eggs Benedict Breakfast -- this was ok. The hollandaise was a little runny and mustardy, and the country potatoes could have been cooked more. It's fun to watch the kitchen in the middle, and they had oldies music playing. Cute diner. Went for brunch on a Sunday, and it was pretty busy. But the service was fast, efficient and friendly. Huevos Rancheros were good. It didn't have ranchero sauce though. Instead it was served with fresh salsa on top. Tasty dish but misnamed. The corned beef was good as well. The real reason I went was because I was craving biscuits and gravy. That was good too. Nothing fantastic but the biscuit was light and fresh. Gravy could've used more seasoning and would've been better if it had some sausage in it. But it tasted just fine. We were visiting Palm Desert and JTs Diner was not far from our hotel. We came in on a weekday afternoon and can highly recommend this restaurant. Stepping inside is like walking into a 1950s Diner, and we loved the music playing - authentic songs from the 50s and 60s. My wife and I were eager to share something - after reviewing the menu our friendly server took our orders: The Wedge (salad) and JT's Smokin Sliders. After a few minutes the food arrived and it looked good (see photo). The Wedge salad was nicely chopped up (a lot of times you get a true wedge of Iceberg Lettuce you have to cut up) with plenty of "goodies"; bacon, tomatoes, hard boiled egg and avocado pieces with blue cheese dressing. Delicious!And JT's Smokin Sliders consisted of 3 small sliders (beef burgers) with smoked mozzarella cheese, topped with crispy onion strips - served with a side of French fries. The burgers were as tasty as the salad. This was our last day in Palm Desert otherwise we would have come back for another meal (they had a good looking breakfast menu as well). read more

Cute diner but that's all. Smells very greasy as soon as you walk in. I did get someone to come over to ask me if I wanted a drink, but it took another 10 minutes for a waiter to come over. Not friendly ! I ordered the French toast croissant it was very dry and tasteless! Just soggy inside which they describe it as a signature dish! Wow! I sent it back and ordered the Belgium waffle Not much better but it was crispy. I had to ask for the maple syrup which was fair. No apologies or anything or is there anything I can do for you. Great restaurant, conveniently near the 10 freeway and perfect for a meal. Three of us sat in the comfortable booths with a tv visible from either side without it being intrusive to conversation. Nicely varied menu. We were there for breakfast. Hubby and I shared pork chops and eggs with fruit and toast. Eggs were cooked perfectly "over easy with whites fully cooked" and pork chops were so flavorful. Fruit was a little skimpy on the serving but tasted good. My son had a make your own omelette with hash browns and a biscuit with honey. He comes from restaurant experience as a sous chef and thought it "pretty good" which equals very good as he doesn't always make comments on food unless it's above or below good. We had a delicious breakfast at JT's. I had an omelet with Portuguese Sausage, bacon, and cheddar with hash browns and rye toast. Everything was well prepared. The omelet was made by the sausage, which is also called linguisa. The toast actually had butter covering all of it rather than a smear in the center. I forgot to ask for crispy potatoes but they were still good. My wife remembered and hers looked perfect. Service was prompt and friendly. Good food. Great service. Diner ambience. This place came recommended by a server at a Marriott location we were staying at when asked for a good breakfast spot in the area. He was right! It was good! We had the Country Breakfast and some pancakes. While the breakfast was delicious, your typical two egg, meat and potatoes plate, the pancakes fell short of amazing. We felt they should have been cooked a bit longer as they were a bit doughy. Also the potatoes could have been a bit more well done with some crisp, which is why I knocked a star off. To me, country potatoes should be a bit crispy, well done. The one item that stood out was the chicken jalapeno sausage. OMG! These sausage patties were delicious, filled with spice and seasoning. Very tasty! This item really made the dish to be honest. I will say they did deliver on the over medium egg, which most places miss. Overall a great experience. Our server Alexandra was so kind and friendly. Everyone working there was. We appreciate that kind of hospitality nowadays, as it is rare and few in today's world. this was the first place we stopped to eat when we got into town since it was close to our hotel. i ordered the mexican breakfast burrito and a coffee -- the burrito was good but honestly the coffee tasted a little off to me. my boyfriend got the reuben sandwich and that was super duper delicious. the inside of the diner is really cute, with lots of fun little signs and a cozy vibe. everyone we interacted with was really nice and welcoming, which made it a good first stop in palm desert. overall, a cute spot with a lot of charm. read more

This review is more so based off of service etiquette and not the food. The food was decent but I found it rude, unprofessional and disrespectful that a guy working there found the need two different times to reach over the table and over my plate to restock things on the table like ketchup, jelly, etc. The first time while eating he just reached over and got the container with arm hair and everything dangling over my food which I don't know if dead skin or hair shedded over my food but I was in such disbelief that I didn't immediately say something. Then he returned with the container full and without saying excuse me reached back over and put it back which made me Furious. Didn't enjoy my meal any further but didn't want to cause a scene because I was pissed and was amongst guest that were actually more Furious than me for witnessing this. Paid for my food and will never return. In the future better etiquette could be used and simply saying excuse me, do you mind if I refill the jelly or whatever it is and ask the customer to pass it to you or even better just wait till a person's done eating. It makes a person feel disrespected and rushed. read more

Don't come here the day after Christmas! We ordered Belgium waffles. Since they were closed yesterday, they did not throw away the Belgian waffle batter from Christmas Eve.
