Located on the west side of the Lizard and probably the most photographed and painted location in Cornwall, the contrast between the cove's white sand beach and the dark red and green serpentine rock produces a breathtaking sight. There's a steep 15 minute walk down to the cove from the car park at the top of the cliff. At low tide you can explore the towering rocks stacks and the caves with names such as The Parlour and The Drawing Room. Located just above the beach is an eco-friendly café selling Cornish pasties, fresh sandwiches, baguettes, homemade cakes and cream teas along with beach goods. From Kynance there is a fantastic 2 mile scenic walk around the coast to Lizard Point, mainland UK's most southerly point. Kynance Cove is owned and looked after by the National Trust and is able to care and conserve areas like this thanks to their members, volunteers and donors.

Firstly there is a car park on top of the cliff that is NT & costs £4.50 if you are not a member. It's a short but steep walk down to the cove, an alternative is available which is longer & is the service track to the cafe. Once down to the beach there is a boulder field to negotiate before you reach the sand which can be absent when the tide is in so the cove is very tide dependant. However when it's out it's a fab place to spend the day, 2 small bays separated by a sand ridge punctuated by large rocks. There are a couple of sea caves to explore. Very popular so get there early to bag your spot when the tide goes out. worth a visit if on the lizard & tides are on your side.

The Cornish Pirates play up in Camborne where the pitch and changing room facilities are better. The clubhouse can be hired out for functions. There are 3 or 4 rooms in the downstairs area, non of them very big. If you do have a function there, you will end up having the food (buffet) in one room, and wondering around the others whilst you mingle. There is a dance floor, and possibly it is the smallest one in the county, about 2m square! The staff are great, and the prices cheap. Worth a visit. They have a large TV screen, but I don't know how many sports they show.

We took our son a while ago and he was totally transfixed by the fish, and we thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I was particularly taken with the sea horse and could have stood and watched them for ages. It does seem a bit expensive, but then a place like that must take some running. There was a cafe and shop with a wide range of gifts from pocket money to quite a bit more money. Definitely worth a look in with or without kids if you like fish, and the setting right next to the beach is beautiful too.

A good aquarium in Newquay with lots of facts to read and lots of interesting sea creatures to look…read moreat including sharks! They have a great gift shop with lots to choose from and a good cafe. The staff all around the aquarium are very friendly and helpful and give talks to people on the creatures and will answer any questions you have. The only downside I found was we got around a bit too quickly as with small children they didn't want to hear many of the details they just wanted to look at things, so perhaps best for older children I'd say if you want to make a day of it, as with small children you could be in and out in an hour which makes it expensive. x

A relatively new complex, it houses swimming (including infants pool and bubble pool), health club…read more(weights, rowing machines, jogging machines and so on), indoor football/basketball court, showers and changing room, everything that you would normally expect in a new leisure centre. It has a small cafe with windows looking onto the poolside. However, with the staff being teenagers, it is not very nice. The tables are left uncleaned, full of spills and crumbs, with little effort to clear up. The staff appear busy talking to their mates who turn up for a coffee that presumably lasts all afternoon. However, apart from that, the rest of the centre and facilities are very good.

It is a fairly undulating course and provides some interesting challenges for players of all abilities. The ninth green is on the flight path of the occasional air-sea rescue helicopter which can be a little noisy but otherwise it is very peaceful considering its close proximity to the city. It features a well appointed clubhouse with the bar and restaurant on the first floor offering extensive views across the course.

There is something reassuring about something that stays still while the world moves around it though! Fun for families...but watch out you don't lose your ball. You get given a score card which tells you the par for each course and a map showing where is hole is. They also supply you with a putter and another club. We played all of the courses which took us about 2 hours. The course was well maintained and it was easy to follow the map. The entrance fee was relatively low and I felt it was good value for money. This is a great day out if you are inexperienced at golf like me but it's not confident players.

The facilities are open from early in the morning for the early birds right through to late evening and offer a variety of fitness classes for all genders and ages. Prices are very reasonable for those that are not members of the club, which has had a recent face uplift and delivery of new gym equipment. It is worth checking the pool timetable during school term time as the local school do use the facility on occasion. The pool is one of the warmest in the local area!!

Paradise Park is great for bird lovers and also just for having a wander around with the kids as…read morewell! They even have penguins to amuse the younger ones and adults alike! They have some lovely indoor and outdoor play areas for kids including my kids favourite the ball pool. There is also a nice cafe, lots of room for having picnics in nice weather, and the kids get the chance to feel ponies, goats, sheep, rabbits and lots of other animals! There's loads of nice walks including woodland ones and basically just a whole lot of fun to be had! A great day out :)
