Generally hotel food in Europe is much better than the US. This is typically a businessman hotel and does not really cater to tourists who are not German but the staff speaks perfect English and super friendly. We had to change rooms because the AC was not working and no problem they did so right away even though because hotel was sold out the night before they cleaned a room quickly so we could move over. Nice! Only two recommendations if visiting and that is avoid getting a room facing the front of the hotel because car noise seems not stop and why we moved rooms. The only down side of our room 421 was the Internet was slow to non-existent. I would paying a little more and get the category room called "businessman room"

Rooms are all pretty comfortable (though I found the pillows to be way too airy for my comfort). Breakfast is very decent (for a hotel buffet it was one of the nicer ones but very Germanic as to be expected). There's no minibar which is common in the region. Instead there's a little vending machine in the lobby. If you want some alcohol from it, you'll have to go to the front desk and they will have to key card unlock those options for you. A bit annoying for something that should be more self service (couldn't you just authorize my keycard?). There are rooms that face the university and research park and rooms that face the Danube. Ask for a river facing room...else you'll have zero view.

First, the hotel is very clean and modern. Rooms were spacious and the large windows kept the room bright but were insulated enough so that the trains weren't too obnoxious. In-room Wi-Fi was reasonably fast at around 3-4Mbit and was only €8/night. The breakfasts in the lobby were basic but otherwise unelaborate German spreads. What really brings the value is that our hotel stay came with an included bus pass, valid for use during our entire stay. The bus system in Ingolstadt is constantly running and very efficient. Also, with the hotel located at the Hauptbahnhof stop, seemingly every bus going anywhere in the city went through the stop just outside our hotel and every bus seemed headed back towards the Hauptbahnhof. Few things less stressful when visiting a new city than not having to worry too much about getting lost on their public transportation system. Front desk was especially friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit expensive and there aren't many parking spots available (maybe 5?). If you're not too light a sleeper and the very moderate amounts of noise from the train station aren't too big a deal, the InterCityHotel is a fantastic place to stay.

The bathroom was huge and spotlessly clean with features including a bidet, a giant tub and a shower. I think my husband's and my first house could fit inside this enormous room! WiFi was free but you need to ask for a cable to connect it to your own laptop. The free parking lot was right in front of the hotel. The free breakfast was not impressive, but the breakfast room was lovely. The hotel was completely sold out when we stayed but still very quiet. The receptionist was kind and friendly but overworked and tired, running two hotels. When you arrive you will most likely need to call someone to come open the place for you. The phone number is on the front door; you'll need to use your own cell phone. If you have older children, there is a place in the river near the hotel (below the bridge) where they can play in the deep, rushing water with a railing to hold. You can join them in the water or sit on the nearby benches. We were there for the medieval festival at the castle, Bad Pappenheim (last weekend of June this year). We were in Europe for 30 days this June and July, and this was by far the nicest room we had the entire month.
