The acoustic is great, the hall was constructed for an impeccable music experience. Even if you get bad seats you can hear every detail (as long as the artist plays precisely haha). The Tonhalle Orchestra is one of the very great orchestras. David Zinman, the conductor, is practically a legend and really knows what he is doing. This is kind of my home away from home - ithis place has kind of a comfortable and melancholic feel. I could stare at the ceiling for hours :) If you are in zurich an are interested in classical music, i highly recommend a visit at tonhalle zurich.

Over the years they have had guest 'desks', including the late Rostoprovitch (who I met first) and Yoyo Ma. There are many others. In recent years the Tonhalle has toured America and Japan, as well as it's normal tours of Europe. Two years ago, they played at the Royal Albert Hall also.

The depth and breadth of the museum's collection of artifacts is as impressive as the stunning and voluminous collection of landmark posters. The furniture area was also very cool. It's also one of the least-expensive thing you'll do in Zürich. Yes, it isn't a huge museum, but the entrance price is ultra-reasonable, with discounts for students and seniors.

Their gift shop was more like a gift "counter," but I liked their selection of merchandise. I guess it's also a school, which explained the "school-like" rest of the building. A few tips and tricks for those visiting: They ask you leave your backpacks and purses downstairs in the provided lockers. The elevator system isn't great, and will always stop at the lobby, no matter what you push, so it's a time consuming process to use it. The restrooms look like they should be pull doors, but they're actually push. It's the oddest thing and the honey and I were both tripped up by it. Overall, we both really enjoyed the museum, much more than the famous Prado, and would highly recommend stopping in if you're visiting Zurich, especially if it happens to be a Wednesday.
