Fantastic service! All staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive. Ambiance is open, clean, definitely feels like the layout of a Denny's (what it used to be) but modernized. Dan Dan noodles- chewy noodles in spicy, flavorful seasonings and ground pork. I wish it had more peanut flavor, but still very good. Pork Juicy dumplings- not super juicy, but good. Garlic green beans- super garlicky, crunchy, delicious! Shrimp, pork, chives pan fried dumplings-really good, super flavorful, perfection. Pork spare ribs- the best item on the menu. Getting this every time! Excited to come back here again.

We came in as soon as they opened on a Thursday morning. Alone we were greeted with great customer service! Staff if very friendly. The restaurant was clean and already smelling good. We were taken to our seat and given the menu and paper to fill out. (Similar to the Ding Tai Fung one) and off the bat with fresh cold water. We ordered our usual, pork juicy dumplings, cucumber salad and spicy wontons. But today we decided to add something different. We added the beef broccoli and chicken juicy dumplings, and let me tell you best choice! The beef broccoli has officially become one of our regular dishes. It was PERFECT! The broccoli was still crunchy but juicy, the beef was soft NOT chewy, and the flavor attacked my taste buds! I couldn't stop eating it! The cucumber salad! I could eat it by itself as a snack! It's a very good portion size In comparison to other similar restaurants that have small servings. Super flavorful as well. The juicy dumplings were steamy and as the name says.. JUICY! When you mix the vinegar, soy sauce and chili and dip them.. it creates even more tasty juicy that makes your palate just take in all those flavors. Overall very good experience! And another plus for me, is a very clean and cute bathroom! Deserves the 5 stars!

    Soooo delicious!! Popcorn chicken!

Have been wanting to try this newish place for a while. We were in a bit of a hurry and our choices reflected that ( otherwise soup dumplings for sure)... Fast and courteous service, decent portions and everything was DELICIOUS!! Leftovers too....

An absolute hiiiiiiit. I left feeling like 50lbs heavier fr. Absolutely diabolical. I ate SO much here. I ordered: Beef roll Orange chicken Shrimp fried rice Cucumber salad Shrimp & pork dumplings Pan fried shrimp pork & chive dumpling Talk about a feast.... The food is very similar to DTF, if not, better. The cucumber salad was a huge portion. Freshly cut up garlic all around to scare off the vampires!!! It was deeeeeelish. The beef roll reminds me of northern cafe's. Perfectly crispy pastry, tender beef and a kick of sweetness. Idk what it is but this is one of my favorite dishes of all time truly. & they do it right here. Orange chicken was light. Not the sticky heavy stuff like Panda Express. This one was tasty & did not make me feel heavy afterwards. A shrimp fried this rice ??? It's great, one of the top I've had for sure. Fluffy, seasoned just right! Service was ON it. They were super on top of keeping drinks filled, clearing plates, checking in etc. Plenty of parking in the plaza. The ambiance is cute with plenty of seating inside. This is def a better take than DTF. Less wait time too! I didn't even have to wait.

Decided to try here after kids swim practice. There was no line and service was quick and friendly. There's quite a bit of booth and chair seating in here and it does get busy here. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, juicy pork dumplings, dry fried green beans and pan fried pork and corn dumplings. Dan Dan noodles were very good and flavorful. So was the dry fried green beans and the juicy pork dumplings. We didn't really like the pork and corn dumplings as much. But I do have to say that their dumplings live up to their name, it's very juicy! Will probably be back again. Staff was great and food was tasty.

So much good food, we had to try almost everything!

Customer service was exceptional!! Everyone was so helpful, attentive, and friendly. They have a few pescatarian options but no pescatarian dumpling options. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and made helpful suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the side condiments on the table (soy sauce, chili sauce, black vinegar) were well stocked and really clean.

Have been here twice. Not busy during early week day lunch. 1. Pork dumpling/xiao long bao: tastes like Mama Lu*. Was better the first visit. 2. King oyster mushroom: was okay 3. Pan fried Pork shrimp chive dumpling: better than expected* 4. Popcorn chicken: good but wish it was spicier 5. Spicy Shrimp wonton: didn't like the filling 6. Green beans: crisp and flavorful* 7. Pan fried chicken dumpling: pretty good. Would get again 8. Beef with broccoli: was okay 9. Beef roll: not bad 10. Dan Dan noodle: needed more flavor 11. Diced chili fried chicken: probably wouldn't get again *would get again Service was a bit spotty for the first visit. Asked for a spoon to eat the juicy dumpling but never got it. We ended up using the serving spoon. Service was better the 2nd time. Would come again.

Scallion pancakes, delicious with chili oil or garlic sauce.

Thank you Ms. Samantha for reaching out in a positive and professional way. I truly appreciate it, I honestly love your food and know that the quality of the food will keep people coming to your restaurant. No hard feelings and I wish you and your restaurant all the best.

This is not quite D.T.F but for just being able to walk in and get way more food for your money, I would recommend it! The food is good and you get large portions. I tried the shrimp and pork wontons, orange chicken, shrimp chow mein , and beef with scallions . I liked all the dishes. The servers came often to check on our table. We came shortly after it opened on a Sunday so we walked straight into to our booth. My soda was flat so I had to get it swapped. But the food itself was good. It was not very loud in the restaurant and the kitchen was separated from the dining. There was lots of parking. Located in shopping center. Not quite DTF but a close less expensive, less wait alternative.

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I was hearing news that it is the next dumpling spot, and I was not disappointed. I dined in with my family and we loaded up on the juicy pork dumplings, spicy wontons, beef roll, Dan Dan noodles, green beans, and the orange chicken. The food all around was delicious. The soup dumplings were very moist and filled with soup. The green beans too were so yummy and filled with that garlicky flavor without being too oily. The staff was great and very attentive, watching our tables if we ever needed anything or any help. It's a well lit restaurant and not stuffy. Very happy with my meal today and will be coming back :))

Really impressed with the atmosphere and how clean it is. Service was great. I needed some extra time for the menu and they were patience and came back to check on me. Food was great. Dumpling skin was fine and not that thick. Portions were large too. Will definitely come back next time.

Orange Chicken ( forgot to take a pic when they say it down , soo the portion size would be bigger than what's pictured )

The inside of this restaurant is really beautiful. Warm and welcoming and we were greeted as soon as we walked in . Our server was nice and asked us if we needed help ordering and even made a few suggestions. We ordered the beef roll, very delicious light and herbaceous . Popcorn chicken was light and crispy and seasoned very nicely . We also ordered the orange chicken I really actually enjoyed it and all the pieces were juicy and packed full of flavor. Will be back to check out a couple other things soon I really appreciate all of the attentive staff who really seemed on top of everything and were constantly checking in on us and all the other guests , customer service like this is really appreciated.

I am surprised by some of the lower reviews! I came here with my husband and really enjoyed our meal! The dumplings were of high quality and the filling was generous and flavorful. My favorite was the pan fried dumplings with shrimp and pork! The soup dumplings had a lot of soup and the spicy wontons has a nice flavorful sauce. I really loved the beef rolls which were packed with beef, cucumber, scallions and sauce! We also enjoyed the shrimp fried rice. The Dan Dan noodles were nicely coated. The only dish that I would probably order instead is the Taiwanese popcorn chicken instead of the diced chicken in chili and pepper. Although it was good it felt oily because it was coated in chili oil. Solid place that I'd go back to!

Our usual not-so-usual go-to for Chinese in the South Bay had been Seashore at Calle Mayor and PCH but I remembered the food being somewhat bland on the last visit several months back. We have also enjoyed Lunasia (for Dim Sum) and Ruiji farther east on PCH but it has been a long time (at least for Ruiji) and the reviews and pictures for Lotus looked really good. I also liked the All-Day Happy Hour! $3 house wines, beer and hot sake as well as the complimentary (and delicious) garlic noodles with $50 purchase ($11.95 value). We ordered the Crispy Crabmeat Cream Cheese Wontons ($10), Spicy Orange Crispy Chicken ($21.95), Kung Pao Chicken ($21.95), Sweet and Sour Pork ($20.95), Beef with Broccoli ($20.95), Mongolian Beef ($21.95) and Crispy Honey Shrimp ($25.95). Yeah, the prices, I know, but again the All-Day Happy Hour and the free noods! The food was a hit...everything was great, fresh ingredients, packed with flavor. The Crispy Chicken wasn't spicy so don't worry if that's not your jam...the Mongolian Beef was probably my favorite and the crispy honey shrimp was lightly fried "to perfection". I hate that phrase but it is appropriate here, truly. Service was excellent. The food came out very quickly and our server was fantastic. It was my 87 year old Mom's birthday and they brought out a cheesecake and candle for her too. We did have tons of left-overs so it will go a longer way which helps with the cost. HIGHLY RECOMMEND; they've definitely earned the top Chinese spot for me.

I'd personally double up on the line crema and skip on the sweet and sour sauce, but that's just my preference. Their soup with chicken and mushroom is so soothing. An underrated pickup for when you're congested and don't feel like cooking, I should add. You can even order their broth in small or large portions! I think what I enjoy about this restaurant is that there are so many addicting individual components to each dish, but they all mesh so incredibly well on a cohesive plate. Yelp had this place on its list of recos, but there was something about this place that drew me in... ... and it turns out, I have actually been here before. But it has been about 30+yrs since, waaaaayyy before my Yelp years! (SIDE STORY: My GodMom and grandparents used to live a couple of blocks away from here and we often ordered food here back in the day.) They are incredibly popular. All their tables were occupied (granted, there were only three or four) but patrons coming through were non-stop. Staff were efficient as well because given the line (there were three people ahead of me) they got us outta there pretty quickly. I went for half white rice, half noods, black pepper chicken and fried chicken/wings. (NOTE: they packaged the wings separately so it doesn't get soggy from the black pepper sauce - love this!) They were good at providing disposable utensils as well as sauce packets. It didn't take long before I was on my way back to work. Noods had nice flavorful chew. Rice was fluffy. Fried chicken/wings was crispy and savory with a slight hint of sweet. But the black pepper chicken was AM.A.ZING!!! There was so much flavor packed in every bite and couldn't get enough of it! There wasn't a lot of fillers either, so that's a plus. Highly recommending this! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 5. They give you enough for a second meal. PARKING: Lots of space shared with others. Not an issue. OVERALL: 4.5. I couldn't stop thinking about the black pepper chicken that I just had to come back the next day to have it again. Paired it with orange chicken on that second run. Not as great, but it is one of their more popular items. (Most people ahead of me ordered it and the pan got refilled during both visits.) So it was a delight coming through here again as it brought back tons of memories. I even remember making many stops at the laundromat next door. Also drove by my auntie's old house. Ahhhh, good times! I shall return! If only for the delicious black pepper chicken!

If you've ever had popcorn chicken from a good boba shop, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The chicken is crispy, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and somehow manages to disappear before I make it home. The fried basil is the real MVP though! crispy, fragrant, and incredibly addictive! Highly recommend checking out this local gem!!!

We asked for not spicy and there was only a hint of white pepper. The only negative was the presentation. It is served in a large paper cone. That's fine if you're eating and walking with it. But at a table, the cone was so tall that you have to stand up to see the chicken inside. And you have to rotate the cone if you're sharing since one side of the cone is taller than the other. The stinky tofu was serviceable but it could have been stinkier. The beef noodle soup was okay. The beef was very tender and the soup was good. But it's not as flavorful as the ones at Sue's Kitchen up the street. The only miss for me was the Dan Dan noodles. I was warned it was spicy but it was a bit spicier than I anticipated. That's ok but the sauce had a weird sour taste to it that was kind of off putting. The service is very attentive. I wish they served boba drinks. Overall we will definitely be back. I can't wait until they open their new branch up in Palos Verdes later this year.

We arrived during lunch hours and discovered they offer lunch specials, which were surprisingly affordable. I have to admit, I'm usually skeptical of very inexpensive lunch specials because, as we say where I'm from, "sometimes cheap ends up being expensive." In other words, I worry that lower prices might mean lower quality. That was absolutely not the case here. The biggest surprise of the meal was the dan dan noodles. Wow. They were absolutely delicious--easily one of the highlights of the meal. Honestly, everything we ordered was very good. The service from our server, Carlos, was great, and another server who was blond and spoke Spanish was even more attentive. Both were very friendly and helpful. We were so hungry when we arrived that we completely missed the "Wait to be Seated" sign and almost walked halfway through the restaurant before realizing our mistake--our apologies for that! The restaurant itself feels cozy and welcoming. I visit this shopping area quite often, and I'm really glad I discovered Northern Cafe because I will definitely be coming back from time to time. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable lunch, I highly recommend trying their lunch specials. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations, and I don't think you'll regret giving this place a try.

We planned to have a quick dinner after leaving an event. 40 or so mins we know is the enough time to order and leave. There were only 2 tables out side of us and before even asking us for a drink they lets us know kitchen was closing in 5 mins. Sorry we thought kitchen was open till a last call desert at 8:45pm Many restaurants around here don't function this way. Especially fine dining. And I know it might not be but I know the owner still has the same rent prices out here!

From many of the Chinese food places that I have tried in the Torrance area, this is one of my favorites. The food has a good flavor, and it is not as salty. It is in a small plaza that has decent parking spots. The dining room is quite large and has many small tables for smaller parties and many big tables for large gatherings and groups for parties. Food - The food was pretty good compared to all the other Chinese places in the Torrance area. It has a good balance of flavors and is not as salty as the other Chinese restaurants in the area. The prices are reasonable if they are lunch special prices. The dinner prices can be a bit pricier. The tangerine chicken and the sesame chicken both had great flavors, but could be a bit crunchier, though. The duck was decent in flavor, but the portion was a bit small. The other dishes that we ordered were all very good too. Overall - I would return to get more Chinese food here because the prices are reasonable and not too bad. The service was good, and the staff were wonderful in trying to help us order the food if we had questions.
