He had a full schedule but looking over the typical layout of our case, he said his retainer should cover it and we would see the end within the time frame set by the courts. So he accepted me as his client and we were both ready for it all to be over in the next couple months. He was upfront and honest about what to expect because in his decades of expertise, this was just about the most standard of divorce cases. Almost a full year and much more than the retainer later, we were still fighting to the shock and horror of both Dan and myself. We just wanted the divorce to be finished and kept conceding to all her demands to avoid costly fees going back and forth. Dan was confounded by the fact she didn't accept the many generous offers we made to finalize the divorce. He went to her lawyers and laid out all the facts and dollars in front of them, but they kept dragging everything out. Then we came across information that looked like it would put an end to this needless battle. We took her to court and I wish I could say the good side won, but we didn't. Final result: house sold along with all assets liquidated, and she was not held accountable for wrongdoings. We did not receive what we felt was fair in the eyes of the law but once given to the courts, there is nothing more we can do. Now with the divorce finally finished, I say goodbye to material things tied to the past and look ahead. While we didn't intend to keep our business relationship this long, I'm happy to know Dan and thankful for the hard work he put into my case. My family and friends all suffered with me through this ordeal and I'm proud to say we (myself and Dan's team) did all we could and we did it the right way; with ethics and honor which is important to me. I got the temporary restraining order and then we went to trial. Mr. Freed tried to settle with opposing counsel before the trial by offering a 1 year restraining order. Opposing counsel laughed in his face and said his client's TRO would be ending today in court, and his client would not be getting a restraining order at all. My badass lawyer, Mr. Freed, strolled in there and got me a 3 year restraining order against my ex-husband! Another example, my ex lied about his income over and over, Mr. Freed got a forensic accountant to confirm that my ex made almost twice as much as he claimed. My ex still refused to pay his court ordered child support and alimony, and because he purposely was trying to drag out the case, Mr. Freed got the judge to order him to reimburse me $100,000 in legal fees. Of course my ex didn't reimburse me, so as the support arrears and legal fines kept adding up, Mr. Freed fought to get me my ex-husband's 25% stake in an office building, which was actually worth more than what my ex owed me. Guess what? Mr. Freed got it for me! So if you know that you're dealing with a narcissist who is going to fight you endlessly, then you need Mr. Freed. He's in it for the long haul.
