My hungry hippo and I got the delicious organic popsicles, and then I couldn't resist the 3/$5 pierogi deal at the table right next door. I will certainly be returning for produce, lamb and just about everything else you need to start your week off right. What a perfect little Monday pocket of Parkdale!

I am a big fan of Dufferin Grove and found this one to be right up to par, with a lot of the same smiling faces and many new supplies to meet! It was the eve of Thanksgiving Monday. I ended up picking up some sunchokes, fresh dill and blue oyster mushrooms from a fabulous mushroom man. There are a great variety of booths and you can get many hot items too, so it would just be a great place to stop by for a good snack or dinner. The piece de resistance? Upon walking up to Oakridge's Finest booth, I saw pumpkin pie! We locked eyes and the man said, "My wife baked these this morning and these are my last two pies". SOLD. sold. sold. My friend picked up the second last one. He held onto them for us while we continued our shopping. And that, my friends, is why farmer's markets are the best.

There's also a good variety of non-produce items, from both startups and a few established brands: Discover small-batch hummus and dips, vegan cookies, kombucha, fair-trade chocolate, maple syrup, jam, honey, and empanadas. Most Saturdays, Great Lakes Brewery, Reid's Distillery, and Pilliteri Estates Winery are also on site. The pretzel bread tent usually has a long line that moves quickly. Definitely get in this line! Known for authentic plain, sweet or savoury pretzels, the vendor also offers buns, focaccia, custard tarts, butter tarts, donuts and more. Hungry already? There are few onsite takeaway vendors for BBQ, momo, tacos, Caribbean plates, smoothies and even popsicles. Loads of parking very nearby. If you really took your time, you could spend an hour here and skip the grocery store for the week.

Normally this is. a great market with about 20-30 vendors including a great butcher, Cheese boutique , baked goods, even a portable knife sharpening shop. there are now more vendors selling cooked food options but Leslieville market is still better for that I'd your looking for that. Mad Mexican, Momo's, Empanadas are at both of these markets actually. the huge upside to this market is ita location with lots of pre and post walking and activity to be had in this area..and LOTS of parking.

[Apostrophe talk - start] I got this listing changed from…read moreFarmer's Market to Farmers' Market. As of late, I have been thinking about apostrophes and there are two correct methods here: - Farmers' Market (genitive), which is how Lakeview Farmers' Market employs the apostrophe. A bunch of farmers belong to this market. - Farmers Market (attributive). Farmers may not all own the market, but the word acts as an adjective to identify the market type. Farmer's Market would indicate that it's a market for a single farmer, which is usually not the case. Or, it could be my friend, Mr Farmer, who owns this market. He doesn't, though. He's still in the IT field! [Apostrophe talk - end] Last Sunday, I dropped by Lakeview Farmers' Market and did some damage during the brief hour that I was here. It was rare for me to be out on a Sunday, but I'm so glad that I did. This market is open from May 30 to October 10, 2021. Its hours are from 10 am till 2 pm. It's roughly fifteen minutes by car from my workplace. It's simply driving southbound on Dixie Road until there isn't any road left. I got there at 1 pm. I didn't have any difficulty finding a prime parking spot steps away from the entrance, likely because I got here towards the end of its Sunday operation. There were many volunteers present. One was waving me into the market itself as I drove in. It puzzled me. I actually asked him whether he was signalling me to park in the first row, because his hand gesture was saying something totally different. He confirmed my suspicion. I backed into a spot and then headed over to the market. There is an informational booth with pretty flowers. You can pick up details about local events and more there. Art of Bean sells coffee and proceeds to go running the market. I love that concept. It's too bad that I'm not a coffee drinker to support that cause more. Instead, I'm definitely a shopper and bought more stuff than I had anticipated! This market has quite the variety, from whiskey and beer, to jams and samosas. It's a small market compared to some that I have visited, but it's mighty in quality and heart. I racked up the following goodies on my market visit: - A bottle of blackcurrant kombucha from Cathy's kombucha - Chanterelle and oyster mushrooms from Fresh and Tasty Mushrooms - Lemon shortbread cookies from Shanny's Shortbread Cookies - A chocolate croissant from Tatsu's Bread - Low-sugar peach jam from Joanne's Urban Pantry I have consumed everything. Top notch. So good. I need to return! I'm out of most items and the week's not over! Perhaps I enjoyed this visit more because I hadn't been to a market in a while. It's quite the gem in Mississauga. I'm so glad that I dropped by and hope to again soon. (293)

I would say that the space given for parking is larger than the market itself. There's volunteers directing traffic for the parking lot and those at the entrance of the market. Every Saturday at the Etobicoke Civic Centre there is a small but wonderful farmers market. I've…read morebeen going there every weekend this summer and I've developed great relationships with actual farmers and enjoyed the fresh Ontario harvest. Like most farmers market recently, there are some resellers here. I would say there's only 2 stalls here that are 100% resellers and have no idea how food gets to their hands. There are probably 4 other stalls that sell repackaged vegetables and half their crops. From my experience, there are 4 real farmers that are phenomenal. My favourite vegetable stall that is owned by an actual farmer is against the southern part of the lot and right beside the chicken/egg farmer. He specializes in leafy vegetables and the occasional root vegetable. I love his baby spinach. It's ridiculously fresh (the spinach still has the damp earth on it from being picked the day before). I normally hate spinach but I found this spinach to be tender and almost sweet in taste. It didnt have that awful bitter taste or that awful rough film on left on your teeth. I guess only old spinach does that. Their Boston lettuce is HUGE and actually flavourful. They also sell rainbow beets in the spring and early summer. When roasted, it's nearly candy sweet and it has that really neat zebra stripe orange and white appearance. There is a fruit only farmer closest to the corner of East Mall and Burnhamthorpe. She specializes in stone fruit and her peaches are so sweet and juicy. She pretty much sells seasonal tree fruits. I've bought pears, plums, nectarines, and peach from her. Each time I'm amazed how much better they are compared to the stores. Its so much juicier. Another fruit only farmer is right in front of the deli truck and in the centre aisle. I really love this one as I've bought strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, nectarine and tons of apples... pretty much any and all fruits here. I love this vendor because they're so personable. If you're not sure, they even let you try the fruit before buying. Often they have specials and they'll be the cheapest than any other farmer (and sometimes even much cheaper than supermarket). Once in a while they'll have something unusual and it's great to see. They have fresh walnuts (even with the natural shell), quince, gooseberries, and chestnuts. There's also a little deli truck outside the library steps and it's manned by a cute Eastern Euro couple and they smoke and cure everything themselves. Their pancetta is perfect and so is their bacon. An honourable mention goes to one of the resellers actually... though they are not farmers, their prices and vegetable offering are better than supermarket. It's just as fresh as any other farmer stall but their prices are more inline with supermarket prices. They also are super generous with their sizes and they always remember me. Their service is always warm and friendly. I really love this place and I'll continue to come back to support the Ontario farmers. Though it is not the cheapest option, my tastebuds love it!

Oooooh-Emmmmm-Geeeeee!!! Sooooooo happy is me!…read more On my way home from work this morning I stopped by the market and now I'm absolutely on a sensory high!!! Some of the stands aren't actually from farms (from what I hear) but just people that buy large quantities of produce and go to market to sell it. I didn't buy anything from those guys. I DID, however, buy from a bunch of different families/farmers. It was so wicked cool! I was really overwhelmed by the size of the setup and the number of stands. I most appreciated the guys that offered samples of their fruits and veggies. In fact, I wound up just saying "yes" to buying everything they fed me as I took each euphoric bite. I'm not gonna lie... not all of the vendors are very friendly. I actually felt that the majority were not so. That was a bit of a letdown. But I spent enough time passing through the lanes and chatting with a handful of people that I still had a warm and welcoming experience. The market is open Friday and Sunday from about 7 or 8 am until about 4 or whenever they pack up and will run to October. I know where I will be doing my shopping for the next couple of months!
