My dog passed away while in the care of Juneau vet Hospital. Taking Dax here will forever be the greatest regret of my life. I feel that they didn't even take the time to get to know my dog. I was never asked questions about what medication he was on. I was never asked if he had eaten before his visit. When I went in to drop him off, they weren't even sure which leg it was- they had asked me just an hour before his surgery which leg needed an operation. They did not want to see/talk to me before his surgery. It was all so rushed. Could it have made a difference in the outcome of this "routine" surgery? Maybe not, but I'd like to think it could have. Even after Dax passed, the report that was sent to the cremation service was incorrect. He was written down as being "grey". Dax does not have a single spot of grey on him. It caused even more confusion and distress after his passing. He was treated like a number. So, because you all did not take the time to get to know Dax- please allow me to tell you more about him. Dax was known as the sweetest gentle giant. He would stick his lips out to accept a treat because he wouldn't want to touch you with his teeth. He would howl when he was excited. He was the best dance partner and the greatest car ride passenger. Dax was so good with kids and I wanted so badly for him to be here and meet our new baby. Dax impacted a lot of lives in his 5 short years here on earth. So many people are grieving his death. He was such a good friend. Dax wasn't just a dog- he was our whole world. And for all those considering Juneau Vet Hospital as either your primary vet or just coming in for a single thing to be done- please trust your instincts. If it doesn't feel comfortable to you, don't let them take your family member. read more

Dr. New is an excellent veterinarian. He has amazing skills with animals, somehow managing to calm even the most anxious of rescue pets. Dr. New seems to appreciate organized pet-owners. He is polite, answers questions patiently and respectfully. His office appears to have quite a few patients, yet Dr. New does not seem rushed and gives full attention to the patient on hand. His staff are all friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable. Keep in mind that if you visit a big fancy new clinic, the cost of the building will be reflected in the patient's bill. Dr. New's clinic isn't fancy, and it doesn't need to be fancy. He is such a good doctor, I have the utmost faith in Dr. New. Do your pet a favor and go to Juneau Veterinary Hospital! read more

I'm visiting from San Diego & I needed to get my dogs eye checked quickly. This clinic was able to squeeze me in & get me an appointment within an hour & the staff was so warm & kind. When we arrived, the staff continued to impress us with their kindness. read more

I can't say I was too fond of them. First, they lost the nice elizabethan collar I brought with me for my dog and gave her a crappy one instead. They aren't also open to seeing your dog late in the day right before they close even if your dog had an accident. Twice I was in a situation where my dog was injured (once was a laceration and a dog bite was another) and I called them while they were still open but they wouldn't see her. I had to wait until the next day. They also said it in such a way that it came across to me as if they didn't care. Having said all that, I didn't care for Southeast Animal hospital either. I kept switching back and forth because I didn't know which was worse. A health certificate and other services here are cheaper than the other place tho. read more

The office assistants do their best. I will also say that Dr. Nu was good with making my dog comfortable. However, it is people not pets that make appointments and pay bills. Dr Nu lied to me about an appointment time, when his office assistants had already confirmed the times. Had he been honest and slightly respectful with his approach,I would of had more patience. He also did not remove a benign lump from my dog when he was already under for dental surgery. My dog does not do well with anesthesia, and scheduling a second surgery did not feel in the best interest of my dog. Finally, their very limited appointment times make it very difficult with anyone who works during the week days. Unfortunately it's just another example of Juneau business owners being able get away with doing business without decent customer service because we as consumers have limited options. read more

I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. The Vet who works there is a joke. Not only was he super grouchy but he refuses to help patients unless it's convenient for him. If you don't make an appointment and pay he won't talk to you, even if you call with a question or concern. The receptionist told me I need to "make an appointment" because the vet wouldn't answer a quick concern I had. I found that very rude. The clinic is also super gross. It has a musty odor to it and the patient rooms are old and kinda gross looking. I would never drop my pet off there with how un-sanitary it felt. I also overheard the vet saying something about rushing a surgery to make his lunch break on time. Would never go there again. read more

This clinic prescribed Revolution for my dog in person, which worked wonderfully, and has shipped it to me in Oregon 3 Times since its not available here. Its the only flee med that works for him. We have tried all the main brands, and under new management or whatever it may be they refuse to honor the agreement we had with the previous vet. Even though I've been in the system. Now my dog is suffering and they don't care at all. Thought you wanted to protect animals and not make them suffer, especially when I have the money and especially when You have the means to help... read more

Saved our dog with emergency surgery. We originally took him to Tongass Vet, who diagnosed the problem and highly recommended transferring him to Juneau Vet for the emergency operation. They met us at the door and wheeled him right back to surgery. We were amazed at how quickly they got him in! They also stuck to the cost estimate in spectacular fashion! The vet did extra post-op tests on our chocolate lab for 3 days after the surgery just to make sure it was safe to fly him home to Gustavus with us, which we appreciated but were worried about the final bill. At the end, it was a mere $2.13 over the original estimate! They really kept their word and took great care of our sweet dog. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience with Juneau Vet. read more
