Walls were damaged during construction, electrical circuits continue to trip, paid-for light switches were never installed, kitchen cabinetry that I paid thousands for is defective and visibly misaligned, and newly installed doors are already showing paint failure. These photos reflect just some of the current conditions. Despite this, both the contractor and their attorney are asserting that the job is "complete." This experience has been extremely stressful, disruptive, and disappointing.

We had done 95% of the job but got stuck in corners and creases where our lack of experience became an issue in getting the job done perfectly. He came out, quoted me a price, we agreed and he said he'd start. He came 2 weeks later. When he arrived he brought an uncle to help him. Long story short, they BUTCHERED my door, frame and posts. They didn't bother edging the porch posts/joists and I ended up having to repaint my entire porch-- which had been newly painted about a month prior to their arrival--because the wood stain was EVERYWHERE! The gouges on my door frame are atrocious and cannot be repaired by simple sanding as there'd be no frame left :/ The door that I hadn't wanted to damage looks worse than if I had just continued to work at the areas myself! Also, he found I had a rotten wooden porch post and agreed to replace it. He went off to Shell Lumber to buy the White Oak post to repair it. When he returned I commented that he'd bought the wrong wood but he gave me some story about it being simply a different cut method. When I finally got the receipt a week or so later, I was correct--he'd purchased Douglas fir :/ Then, part of the work I did hire him to do included creating the screen and surrounding wood frame for each individual square on my old wood screen door--about 10 total. I had purchased ~32 linear feet of white oak frame molding. Each square requires about 4'. I had miscalculated and knew I'd be short. He only managed to get 4 squares done with those 32 linear feet :/ Finally, he told me he'd give me a mailbox he'd built that he had laying around in his workshop to replace my old one. He came back said his wife had gifted it to someone but that he'd happily make me another one because he had extra materials. While his uncle butchered the actual project I'd paid HIM to do, he spent his time building the mailbox. He essentially spray painted my old mailbox, drew some design on it, attached it to some pieces of wood, screwed in some house numbers (in a style I don't even like when I had already ordered my own house numbers!) and added some corrugated metal planter boxes for succulents. I didn't like it but kept it to myself since he'd given it to me. I figured I'd simply remove it and replace it with one I like after he left. Ha! When the work was "done" he told me he'd email me the updated statement. I was shocked to see that it totaled more than DOUBLE what we'd agreed to. He charged me $300 for that mailbox (gift my ass!) plus a ton of other shop materials that I know were not used. I paid him what we'd originally agreed to and some of the material costs. We agreed that I'd pay him the rest when he came back to finish the molding work on the screen door when the screen molding was delivered. BS! It cost me another $1,500 to have someone repair his work. He's in over his head. Save yourself the time and trouble and find help elsewhere.

My initial contact with FSR was in the midst of the COVID pandemic but with all the uncertainties…read moreof COVID we put the reroof for our patio roof on hold. A complete roof replacement had been done on the home about 15 years ago. The building code did not permit the metal roof to extend over the patio because of the patio's slope and modified bitumen roof installed. Over time a corner area began to lift and a small area along the flashing began showing a small leak in a bedroom. The roofer had gone out of business and we couldn't get a response from the product warranty so the search began for a roofer. We learned not all roofers do the repair we needed and not all roofers are interested in anything less than a full roof replacement. My initial quote was in 2021 and I reached out again to FSR mid-January 2024. The cost increase from the initial quote was anticipated but completely reasonable. The final inspection was approved in the second week of February. The process could have been even faster if we hadn't taken so long to sign the documents. Our experience with FSR was fabulous. Everything was done via email, text, cell and DocuSign. Communication was excellent. FSR did all permitting with the county. Once a start date was established it was completed on day two as projected and the final inspection completed and approved on day three. We know as our main roof ages who we will call when the eventual replacement is needed. It was a great experience and we would recommend FSR without reservations.
