What a wonderful surprise it was! The young manager, Stefan, took my special request order for the wedding cake and also for a birthday cake (for the day following the wedding). Both cakes were tasty, beautiful and impressive. For the wedding, Stefan created a Black Forest Cake covered with Marzipan, and for the birthday a mixed Chocolate cake with a special decoration. Our guests loved the cakes very much and we were very happy with the service, prices and the amazing approach to us as clients. I recommend this family like bakery from the bottom of my heart!

Yes, its probably one of the most expensive bakeries in the world but this place has got some great…read morethings going for it which makes it worth it: -almost all of the ingredients come from the region and all are either certified organic or bio-dynamic. -they use green energy for all of their locations including where they bake the bread and have a very green policy when it comes to energy consumption (and trying to reduce it as much as possible). -finally, and most important, besides the fact that you feel good about getting your bread here is that unlike the reputation that some organic bakeries have for only baking things that resemble cardboard, its also all around the best tasting bread in Hamburg. My picks are the Kernbeißer Brötchen, Holsteiner Vollkornbrot, Laugenbrötchen, Ciabatta and of course the Franzbrötchen ;).

We've tried different varieties at this point and everything has always been top notch. If you decide to eat-in, they also have really good coffee. One star was deducted from my perspective for the interior. I find it bland and boring. Further, due to their success, there is usually a ton of people in here waiting to order stuff for take-out. We actually have started doing this as well. We come and pick our stuff up and eat it at home. Like I said, it really is that good and we live nearby so we have home court benefit. At the same time, I really wouldn't recommend the cafe as comfortable and inviting unless very little is going on and this is rare. They are successful, popular and well known. People trudge over here just for their cakes. I highly recommend trying it out as the baked goods truly are 5-stars.
