The one dish that is really healthy is the AHI Tuna appetizer. Actually, it is enough for a dinner and is reasonably priced. We tried the AHI Tuna appetizer apiece and added on order of the Bang Bang Shrimp and it was almost too much for two. The next time, we just ordered the AHI Tuna- one apiece. Not many places around here offer AHI Tuna - they should. A healthy alternative to a Prime Rib or Steak. Drinks are excellent. Half the bartenders in WI can't make a Manhattan right. This place makes them right - 2/3s bourbon, 1/3 sweet vermouth, NOT a "Dash" or a Drop of Vermouth - 1/3. A "dash" of bitters - yes. They also use the antique cherries in them. A quality bourbon (George Dickel 8 yr.old) Manhattan was $10 (very reasonable) Great ambiance. We get there before 5PM to avoid the crowds. Probably best to call to make reservations for four or more - especially if you're going after 5PM. Next time, I will try the Italian dishes. ALSO- desserts are top rate and $10.

The food arrived in record time and I do not live down the street! It was hot, fast and most of all good! I called to compliment them and found out that the cook/owner/main man is from Chicago. I had the mushroom Swiss burger. I really should remember to ask about the mushrooms before I order one. These mushrooms were canned- which can be fine if they are sautéed or warmed in a mushroom sauce. These 'shrooms were not. And - while I should have expected it - the "Swiss" cheese was a slice of Kraft processed Swiss cheese. This from a place that is 23 miles from Monroe, Wisconsin - the Swiss Cheese capital of the world! Note to my friends who are OCD - do not sit in the first set of booths when you come in. These booths were all moved forward a few inches during a remodel - but the booth numbers on the wall and the lights above the table - which used to be centered - are now skewed to one side of the table. While Landmark was an acceptable lunch spot - we will not be adding it to our rotation of places to stop on our way to Iowa.

Dear Council Oak Management,…read more My husband and I dined at Council Oak last night to celebrate three very special occasions: my retirement, my birthday, and his birthday. This was our fifth or sixth visit, and we've always enjoyed dining with you, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Our evening started off very well. The hostess asked if we were celebrating anything special, and we shared our celebrations. When our server, Amy, introduced herself, she also acknowledged my retirement and our birthdays and engaged us in a friendly conversation about our plans. Because your staff initiated these conversations, we naturally assumed there might be a small celebratory gesture at the end of the meal, as is customary at many fine dining restaurants. We weren't looking for anything extravagant, just a simple acknowledgment such as a small dessert or cookie. Instead, nothing was offered. In hindsight, it felt unnecessary to ask about our special occasions if there was no intention of recognizing them. The service also became inconsistent throughout the evening. Amy disappeared for a significant portion of our meal, and another gentleman stepped in to assist us before Amy returned and apologized. While we appreciated the apology, the overall pace of the meal was extremely slow. We arrived at five o'clock, were among the first guests seated, and did not leave until approximately seven forty-five. There were only two of us, yet we waited about forty-five minutes for our entrées, making the dinner far longer than it should have been. We have always enjoyed Council Oak, which is why this visit was so disappointing.
