We had just moved into a new house and needed to get rid of trash and other items, so we decided to use Junk Away Inc. The first time we called, we sent pictures and were given a quote. When the crew arrived the next day, the price stayed the same since the pictures accurately represented what was being picked up. Because of that good first experience, we decided to use Junk Away again -- but this time, we had a smaller load to remove. We again sent pictures from every angle and were quoted $140 over the phone. When they arrived, the price suddenly jumped to $180. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called to ask why, the lady on the phone (who made sure to mention she was the owner) was extremely rude and dismissive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She said the price can "change once the driver gets there," even though we had provided clear, detailed photos. This second load was smaller than the first, yet somehow cost more. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and respect was very disappointing. What I liked: I love a good family owned local business, which is what immediately drew me to this company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also like that they had good reviews on Yelp and that they were very responsive in my initial outreach to secure a quote for services. They responded quickly and were able to come out the next day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Additionally, they gave a reasonable price quote of $185-200 (more about that later) showed up on time, and got the job done pretty quickly. What I disliked: I initially shared two photos as an example of what I needed removed from the backyard with a description of "concrete/granite and old windows". After I got an initial quote of $185-$200 I took three more photos, including everything I needed removed so that I could receive a more accurate quote. I was told "it's going to be closer to $200." Great! However, when they arrived to remove the items the next day, the worker asked if I had been given a price because this was going to be around $375 since the items were "heavy" and it was a "big job." When I pushed back and said that I was given a price of $200 and had shared in advance that it would be granite and concrete, the worker told me he could do it for $300. I had reached out to several companies about removing the items from my backyard and price was definitely a factor in the decision to move forward with junk away. Ultimately, I feel like it was a bait and switch to pull me in at a lower rate and then raise it on the spot almost double! Instead of "closer to 200". I should've been given a quote of closer to $400 if that's actually how much they expected me to pay. Service was fine, but pricing was inaccurate. I understand room for error, but an attempted 85% increase in the quoted cost is pretty unacceptable in my eyes. read more

I had a stash of furniture that didn't fit our new home, so I contacted Junk Away for an estimate. They were extremely responsive through Yelp messaging with a quote and their availability. I sent a detailed list and pictures of my items. Gabriel estimated the cost to be $150-$210 (very reasonable). The Junk Away team arrived on schedule. I showed them the items I wanted to get rid of and they asked about my price quote. They were shocked at the low range, and thought $350 was a more appropriate charge for the amount I had. Now it was my turn to be shocked! I almost canceled the transaction given the price was 175% of the original estimate. However, I have new furniture coming and needed to clear out the old stuff. We ultimately agreed on $265. The team (Rafael and ???) was courteous, professional and efficient in removing my unwanted items. We needed to get rid of a hot tub that came with the house we purchased. The process was super easy with Junk Away, not to mention cheaper than some of the higher-rated businesses we found on Yelp. Vanessa contacted me right away and had availability when we needed it. She confirmed our cost for the hot tub we had after I sent a picture via text message. Rafael came by and took on the job by himself, he cut up the hot tub, drained it and hauled it out within about 2.5 hrs. Other companies told me they'd charge an extra $100 on top of Junk Away's cost to cut up the tub. Rafael was nice, quick, and even obliged when I asked him to haul away an old stone bird bath in our front yard that was an eyesore and a mosquito breeding ground.
