I was in town visiting a friend last weekend and we made reservations for 5:30 at the sushi bar. After being seated we were never acknowledged by a chef. After a while our server came who was friendly and very attentive. People were seated at the bar and appeared to get sunomono salad which we were never given or offered. We ate appetizers and our sushi order was finally grabbed and taken back to the kitchen where I assume it was made. Our rolls were delivered by the chef who appeared to be making the sushi for the restaurant. I think the rice was probably minute rice because it was falling out of my roll onto the bar. My shoyu dish was so full of rice I had to pour it onto the plate. In short it was a mess to eat. I have had far superior sushi from trader Joe's. The only saving grace was my lovely waitress and good company. I would not recommend this place. UPDATE my friend called and spoke to Junz. She said he was willing to address the issues and was very apologetic. We live in interesting times. Hopefully they get the sushi back in point. read more

From the very first time I ate at Junz, back at it's inception, right through tonight, I've been delighted, astonished, pleased, surprised, challenged and amazed. For a restaurant to consistently provide a wonderful dining experience for this many years is remarkable. I've been eating at Junz for fifteen years. I Won't go back. Be advised: The fish and preparation are questionable, management is rude and will not make any attempt to correct a problem and instead took the stance that I was wrong when I made my first complaint after fifteen years. The past two times I have frequented this restaurant, I was given either the wrong order or a roll with foul smelling fish. We have been coming to Junz for a very long time. It was always the same wait staff and sushi chef for as long as we could remember. Today we went for lunch and everybody was new. Like the most recent reviews, it has sadly gone downhill. We got our usual starter of seaweed salad that was rated the best I've ever had, but now definitely not the best. We ordered 4 sushi rolls with 4 different kinds of seafood. Our favorite part about Junz was that the sushi was so flavorful and fresh. Today all 4 different rolls tasted all the same, not that fresh with hardly any flavor or difference between them. So sad, guess we have to leave Parker for good sushi. read more

What happened to Junz? Been going there happily for 23 years. Tonight we went for sushi as that is what they do best. Not tonight! Waited, waited and waited, ordered entrees to eat something. Server, bless his heart kept apologizing, but after waiting over an hour for our meager two sushi rolls. Frustrated, we finally left. I guess what was salt in the wound was watching the "kids" making the sushi were all having such a fun and trouble free time. More joking around then doing what they were suppose to be doing. Has been one of my favorites for years...this time, not so much. A Tuesday evening...not crowded. Three to four sushi chefs working, but they only seemed to be preparing to go (door dash?) orders. We ordered a hot appetizer which came quickly, then an hour wait for our sushi, while the server apologized many times for the slow pace of sushi orders. No one at their tables was getting any sushi, while to go after to go orders were piled up on the counter. I felt bad for the young servers. They didn't seem to know what to do. Someone needs to manage the to-go vs. the in-house orders better. Food was good once it came, very tasty, but all the sushi was poorly prepared and was all coming apart. Great sushi, comfortable and upbeat atmosphere. You're greeted with all the chefs saying "Hello!" or something like that in Japanese. And you get a loud "Goodbye" when you leave, so a bit of acceptable silliness puts a grin on your face. The sashimi is top-notch. Regular Nigiri is Ok. The house rolls are fun, I recommend the Phoenix. Sort of pricey, but as I always say, you pay for what you get and here at Junz you get good quality for the location. Our daughter and son in-law treated us to dinner out at the Japanese restaurant in Aurora, Colorado the other night. Rose was happy to try a new Asian place (with rice!) and I have just begun to explore sushi, so this seemed to be a promising adventure. Although the place was quite busy, we were seated promptly (we had reservations). At our daughter's suggestion we ordered a bottle of Yaegaki Nagori Sake and some edamame for an appetizer. The sake was smooth and mellow and a perfect complement to our meal. The edamame (steamed, salted soy bean pods) was new to me and a pleasing snack. For entrées Rose ordered Niku Maki; thinly sliced ribeye beef wrapped around asparagus with a house salad and sautéed vegetables. Absolutely wonderful! I ordered Tempura; shrimp and vegetables deep-fried with that wonderful, light crispy crust, served with a house salad and sautéed vegetables. To top it all, the kids ordered an assortment of sushi, and specially prepared house wasabi. Wow! So many tastes and textures! Everything was great. Wanted sushi kind of late and they were open which was a plus. They told us as we came in they were out of white rice for sushi rolls and only had brown to make the rolls with. We said no biggie and truly it wasn't. Didn't feel that altered the taste at all. I got a spicy salmon and cream cheese roll that was topped with crab maybe? Eh it wasn't awesome. BUT I also got a speciality roll that was inside of a jalapeño and that was for real bomb! I wish I'd ordered two of that roll instead. We asked to see the sushi menu and she pointed to it, unfortunately it was under the win menu. They have about 10 - 12 rolls. A couple of them were good. Always good, always fresh, always friendly. Not always quick, but you don't go to a nice restaurant to rush through the meal!! Reservations suggested on busy nights, though they die down about 8. I see Kristin S.'s review and she is right... the servers do not know how to prioritize when it is busy there. There are a couple that are stellar and pick up the slack, but they shouldn't always have too. During busy time, we are always there at least 1 1/2 hours... mostly waiting. This is definitely NOT a bad place to eat but I couldn't find anything that will justify 4 or 5 starts rating like I've seen here. We had a few sushi rolls, seaweed salad and teriyaki beef. All was OK, maybe even above average but not much more. The beef took a long time to prepare and although my wife asked for it to be cooked medium, it was well done. The "large" seaweed salad portion is tiny. Not even close to being considered large by any standard. The sushi rolls were all good and the presentation was nice. There are other dishes on the menu that look interesting, maybe we should have tried those. Our waiter was a nice guy and very friendly, but he was a little out of focus. For example, he seated us and then forgot to bring the menus... But I wouldn't hold this against the place just thought I should mention it. I hope it's a one time thing. Overall we had a good lunch at reasonable prices so I would definitely recommend this place if you're in a mood for Japanese. Just don't expect anything spectacular. read more

Been coming here for the past 5 or 6 years now and whenever I'm in Parker, CO this is where I go. Great for lunch and awesome for dinner. But if you're going to come on a Friday or Saturday night it would be a good idea to make a reservation. Service is always fantastic, chefs are amazing. Whatever you order you will love. Hmmm. Lemme think about this one....Junz quality sushi, versus King Soopers pre-made packaged sushi..........And The winner is.....King Soopers!! Low quality ingredients, stale (gamey) seafood, they are obviously trying to increase profits by using low cost, low grade food products. Our experience started off with ordering a bottle of Nigiri Sake (one of our favorite sake's) for $35. When we opened it, it tasted like vinegar. When we told the the management that we wanted to try something else because we thought the bottle was perhaps bad (Nigiri Sake does not have a long shelf life because of its rice sediment content) the management tried the Sake, admitted that it tasted funny, but sent yet another bottle of the same rotten sake to the table. We told them the second bottle was not good either, but they left it on the table. Maybe they thought the problem would go away if they ignored it long enough. As more Low Quality food came to our table, next round was the Pork Tonkatsu which came out overcooked, dried out and flavorless. There were just so many problems with ALL the food we ordered, we realized complaining would be useless, as they would simply replace their low quality food with more of the same low quality food. All said, we just asked for the check ($130 for 3 people), left our low quality, stale, overcooked, gamey food sitting on the table mostly uneaten and stopped and picked up some burgers. My only redemption to our experience was getting the burgers and now, helping others by writing this review and saving them some hard earned $$. read more

Junz is well known in the south Denver area for always having fresh fish and admittedly that is very true which makes Junz a mainstay in my family roster of local destinations for sushi. As a matter of fact, the salmon nigiri is among the best I ever had as the fish is served at perfect temperature (not overly cold) with a very generous sized slab draped over just a small ball of the sweet rice, as it should be! I also think their salmon skin roll is the best roll on the menu as it genuinely achieves that "umami" mix of flavor and texture. From a creativity standpoint they are "ok" and if I could suggest a way to up the ante I would say they could use other fruits and vegetables in their rolls than simply cuke, carrot and dailkon. Maybe some mango when in season or crunchy red peppers or radish. Many have complained here about the service and we've been here enough times to know that they can get bogged down on busy nights. Such is the biz and I can't fault them too much for it, and even in those times, we've been dealt with appropriately. My only real "meh" comments are that the place smells odd to me..... vaguely like kitchen cleaner, which I always think about when they come up for consideration for the evening's meal. And like most sushi joints, don't expect awesome ambience etc. I'll end with this and on a positive note: the green tea is the genuine article which really does "make" the sushi joint that much better than the "tea bag" ones. Yes. You will see me here again and again as long as I reside in Parker. But I am required to keep it real on Yelp, and I hope one day to alter to 4 stars. RD read more

Generally has been reliable, however the current owner or manager is not only unfriendly, he is downright rude. Weare regular customers - 3x a month at least - and placed a to go order to be picked up by Grub Hub. When the driver arrived he was told "there was no order by that name" so the driver left - after calling up there they said to us the order just was not ready and your driver left so that is on the driver. Meanwhile, the text from the driver to us also said "they have no order for you" - instead of trying to make it right, the manager was incredibly rude. We will not EVER dine in this restaurant again. Period. Amazing that during Covid when you are trying to support local restaurants they consider it reasonable to treat a customer with downright rudeness. read more

My Mother asked the waitress how many ounces was in the large Sapporo, she told her 40... it was 20.3. Then while we waited for our dinner, I noted the light above my Mom was out with a dead fly hanging from it. So I started to look around and noticed how dusty everything was. To make things worse, cause I would have not complained on here with the aforementioned, my meal came 13 minutes and 37 seconds after my Mother's meal. Ask how I know, because after about 3 minutes of wondering where my food was, I started to time it. It was 10 minutes and 37 seconds after I started timing it that I got my food. Came in tonight for dinner with my wife. We had to wait about 25 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad for a Friday night. The trouble started after we were seated. It took our server 15 minutes to greet us. My wife ordered a martini and I asked for a margarita-- but I don't like sweet and sour mix, so I asked that instead of sweet and sour they substitute with some lime juice from a few wedges. We also asked for two waters. Another twenty minutes later, my wife's cocktail showed up. The server dropped it at the table and said he would be right back, presumably with my margarita and our waters, which he still hadn't brought. He came back to the table a few minutes later to take our order, still no waters or margarita. We placed our order and I asked if my margarita was on the way. The server said, "Oh, we can't make it with lime because we don't have fresh lime." My wife picked up the lime wedge that came on her cocktail and said, "this is a lime, isn't it?" His response was "well it would take too long and the bar is really busy." I've worked in restaurants/bars, and I know that every bartender worth his salt pre-cuts lime wedges before dinner service begins. It would have taken literally 5 seconds to squeeze a few into a glass. We then asked about our waters and he said he hadn't brought them because they were out of glasses and left to go put our order in. My wife pointed out to me that there was a stack of clean glasses behind the bar, so we were pretty confused. Aside from all this, the party next to us were seated 10 minutes after us, and already had their drinks and appetizer before we even had waters or had placed our order. We asked them to cancel the order and left to go somewhere else after wasting an hour of our time. The lack of service at this place was appalling and I couldn't stomach spending a dime there. Im gonna PASS on this place!!! And you should too! Okay, maybe it's because we came in on Christmas Eve and it was super busy. But we did spend nearly $70 here on dinner. Let's see. We sat down at the bar ordered to go. We grabbed two drinks and waited 45 mins for our food. All ordered was two rolls, a chicken teriyaki dinner, and edamame. We witnessed the servers putting their hands in the drinks with the lemons and drinking while serving. This isn't a brewery! You can't drink on the job. There was no description on the rolls. Both rolls came loaded with Sriracha sauce. No indication that they would be spicy! Thank god we looked them over before we took them home! We sent one of the rolls back because my wife can't do anything with spice. That took another 25 mins! Oh and the chicken teriyaki had no taste. It tasted like they cooked it in a microwave!
