Just For Fun Roller Rink is for sure a fun time! I really enjoyed coming here to roller skate (or attempt to), the rink for skating is a pretty decent size. Some Wednesdays they have discount pricing - it was $6 to skate, and $4 for rental of skates. All of the employees I encountered were very friendly, there is some quick service food/candy items and a mini arcade inside as well. The whole place looks like it's straight out of the 80's (which is a good and bad thing I guess), it could definitely use some remodeling inside. But other than that, it's a really fun time if you're into roller skating.

Just For Fun Roller Rink is a very nice family skating facility. I went there one day just to check it out. The woman working there was very nice and let me take a look inside. The décor is very colorful and festive. The light system was vibrant and dancing with the music. On another day I went skating by myself. I felt comfortable because everyone was having a good time skating or enjoying a birthday party. It didn't matter if you were there on your own or with a group. The DJ played all types of music. Beginner skaters are told to stay in the middle of the rink and more experienced skaters use the outer part of the rink. I had a good time. I hope more adults come there to skate.

It's a good place to bring family and friends and kids to skate and have some fun. The prices are reasonable. It's not so bad.

You can get roller blades or old school skates. Tons of size's for everyone

Normally a common crowd. Small children and parents. A few teens. Good mix of music- not top 40 but a mix of old and new music.

I am writing this review after multiple deeply disturbing experiences at Glacier Ice Arena…read moreinvolving staff conduct, serious safety concerns, and a complete lack of accessibility. What happened here affected my children emotionally and physically, and I do not believe this facility is safe for kids. On my very first visit, I was alone with my four children (ages 8, 6, 4, and 4 months). I thanked one of the coaches for helping me and mentioned it had been a hectic morning. Her response, said directly in front of my children, was: "It's your fault you had so many kids." My children later asked why an adult would say that. I was heartbroken. This comment was cruel, unprofessional, and emotionally harmful. On another day, my 4-year-old daughter attended Tot 1--only her second skating class ever. She was fully dressed and nervous about getting on the ice. I calmly told that same coach that my daughter was nervous about getting on the ice, who replied coldly in front of my child, "That's your problem," and walked past us. No one who works with young children should ever speak that way. During that same class, when my daughter finally got on the ice, she fell and could not stand back up. She was left sitting on the ice for over 8 minutes without assistance, repeatedly trying to stand and failing. No instructor helped her. At the time, I was nursing my 4-month-old baby with a broken arm in a cast and felt helpless. My daughter came to me in tears, saying that no one would help her. That broke my heart. My daughter thrives with her ballet and tennis coaches and is normally confident and happy. I deeply regret placing her in an environment where she was treated so poorly--both verbally and physically. Another incident involved the front desk staff. I was sternly told to move my stroller even though it was not blocking the doorway. I was helping my three children put on skates while my baby cried in the stroller, and I had a broken dominant arm. There was zero compassion or understanding. Glacier Ice Arena is also not stroller- or disability-friendly. There are no ramps, no elevators, and only one handicap push-button on a front door. Navigating the facility with young children, a stroller, or mobility limitations is difficult and unsafe. Another concerning experience involved food quality and staff behavior at the concession stand. I purchased popcorn for my children, and they immediately said it tasted old and stale. When I brought this up, the lady working at the popcorn concession stand was extremely rude and condescending toward me. I am attaching a photo of her below. Whether you're reading this review on Yelp, Google, TripAdvisor, or elsewhere, I encourage you to click on my name and review my history. I do not write negative reviews lightly. Over several years, my reviews have all been five-star reviews. However, I have never been treated as poorly as I was here. There appears to be a troubling culture of disrespect from multiple staff members. I echo what many other reviewers have said: the staff is shockingly rude. Beyond rudeness, the behavior I witnessed was emotionally damaging, physically unsafe, and unacceptable. If you have other options, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere, such as Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion (Buffalo Grove), Northbrook Sports Center Ice Arena (Northbrook), North Shore Ice Arena (Northbrook), Centennial Ice Arena (Highland Park), Hot Shot Ice Arena (Lake Bluff), Top Shelf Ice Arena (Gurnee), Glenview Ice Center (Glenview), and others. I hope Glacier Ice Arena reflects seriously on these issues. Until significant changes are made, I do not believe this facility is safe in any sense for children.

Two sheets, decent arena, no lobby seating…read more From what my son says, the ice is decent, as are the locker rooms. His team has played the home team twice and they've been really competitive, though we've won both. All this to say that the hockey program here seems to be thriving. There are concessions, but they weren't open at the time we were there (weeknight evening). We'll be back as visitors, but if you live in the area and are considering a place for your kids to skate... this is an excellent option.

I am updating my previous review. I did enjoy going to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies Roller Rink…read morein the winter when it wasn't crowded. However, I later found the rink to be unsafe, understaffed and poorly managed. On Friday nights it can get crowded. There aren't enough staff or referees to manage the rink floor. People will loiter anywhere on the rink floor blocking the entrance and exit ways. Kids will sit on the floor with their legs sticking out for anyone to trip over. Teenagers loiter all over and mainly in the corning sitting area on the rink floor then all get up at once blocking all oncoming skaters. Kids skate the wrong way on the rink. If there is enough staff they will try to enforce the rules but the kids often ignore them. Or they will follow the direction once then go back to doing what they shouldn't be doing. I've found items on the rink floor that people can trip over such as large screws, candy, jewelry, and plastic containers of mints. The are usually no referees skating around looking out for these hazards. Unlike other rinks I've been to where kids with skate mates or people who would like to practice their tricks are directed to stay in the middle of the rink, there are young skaters at this rink who have no concept of rink etiquette and will speed by doing tricks around the rink not caring who is in the way and knock anyone down. I was knocked down and out one evening and didn't know what hit me. I was skating then the next second I was on my back passed out. Later that evening another person was knocked out and badly injured I'm guessing by the same young skater doing his tricks on the floor with no concern for others. Noticing some of these hazards earlier while skating there I had written to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies with some suggestions before these accidents happened. I hope they will take some action to make this rink a safe and enjoyable place to skate again. It was really nice skating with the kids and families when it wasn't an unruly, madhouse full of middle schoolers who have care or concept of anyone else besides themselves. This rink is on the small side and should have a lower limited capacity instead of just letting as many people in as possible. However, the young people who work there I'm sure don't have any way of knowing or enforcing that.

I can fully believe that the renovations were done with the future of the the greatest sport ever in mind. My dad played in the inaugural mens league season at this place, and i've been a couple times for stick - n - puck sessions. Most recently, I was there with my friend earlier this year for a public skate. Loved the vibes from the start. I expected it to be a light turn out (cause lets face it ice skating is not a top 10 spring activity), but I was certainly surprised to see a good crowd, especially for a week night. The Ice was pretty good and smooth, and there were no true issues with the overall experience. The Bar and Grill is also a nice touch as well. I was able to experience the food not too long ago, as someone I knew had a birthday skating party there. The pizza was cooked nicely and had great flavor and crisp overall. This business is a standout in this mall for sure, and I love how they repurposed the old Olympia as a promotional prop. I absolutely cannot say enough about Top Shelf!

The outside of the building looks sharp and you can tell there's been a facelift. The inside was nice too. Bathrooms were clean and general areas nicely kept. Tonight(03/14/26), I had been told to leave during the adult skate. My mother had gotten yelled at for trying to go on the skating floor as well. He asked me for my ID and I gave it to him. He proceeded to call me and my mother liars. I know for a fact that he let's children skate during adult skate. We did not get a refund and he did not offer one. Another issue is the bathrooms, specifically the women's bathroom as I have no reference for the men's. I have a disability and although I usually manage, I had used the accessible toilet. I had noticed that there was only a railing behind the toilet which I could not reach. Also during the session, a kid touched me inappropriately and smiled afterwards. My 8-year-old was surrounded by a group of unsupervised 13-year-olds who tripped him and struck him in the back of the head. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, I was told that drop-offs are permitted, and no action was taken to remove the older children involved. Despite three witnesses confirming what happened, staff chose to side with the teens, accepting their explanation that it was an "accident." When the manager confronted the group, I saw them laughing, which gave me the clear impression that the seriousness of the situation was not acknowledged. Additionally, there seems to be a general lack of enforcement when it comes to the rules on the skating floor. At times, it feels like skating at Xtreme Wheels is a free-for-all. Families are trying to enjoy their time, but they're often sharing the space with unsupervised kids running around without accountability. I believe that if floor rules were more consistently enforced, it would create a safer and more enjoyable environment--especially for families with younger children.
