3 years ago this would have been a four or five star review. Sadly, my more recent experience here was unfortunate. I bought a hallway runner back when this place was called Just Remnants and it was a good price and 100 percent wool and that runner has held up very well. After I bought a house in 2024 I came back to buy another hallway runner because I have a bigger hallway now. I explained I wanted another 100 percent wool runner and something similar in an off-white tone. They sold me something that looked similar to my old runner but after noticing that it develops stains far more quickly I compared the feel of both runners and realized the second one is nylon even though they told me it was wool. It was much more expensive even though only about 20 percent bigger. I will not be buying anything here again. You don't know what you are buying when you buy a remnant sadly. read more

Update on my last review Never received a response regarding repairing the area damaged by the installer until weeks later when we went to the store. There were four men addressing our complaints telling us the store was not responsible since a paragraph on the proposal stated "some touchup of paint will be required after installation of flooring". They had two painters look at the photos and said the paint was peeling. We painted the wall on the side of the steps a few weeks prior to installation. New paint does not peel. But that was their excuse. There is no question that the wall was scraped at most steps by the installer. The other issue was space between the carpet and baseboard at the first landing. Looking closer at the area, the installer did not cut the piece of carpet to fit properly. The sales rep said he mentioned I needed another baseboard. That is not true because had he told us before the carpet was installed it would have been done. First time he mentioned it was in the room with coworkers. After multiple calls and texts Just Carpets is unresponsive to complaints and leaves the customer holding the bag with excuses that are just not true especially after they've been paid in full. Lesson learned... Do not pay them until you have carefully gone over the job...otherwise they ignore you. read more

The place has gone downhill and worse, I learned accidentally from one of the sales guys that the price they give you is literally made up on the spot. Guessing depends on how you're dressed, car you pull up in etc. Finally and most importantly - there are NO warranties. Zero. Zip. Nada. Whatever they tell you they are lying bc when you go to the actual carpet manufacturer they will tell you flat out they don't offer warranties when sold through this place. So- new carpet is old carpet after 6 months and 3 professional cleanings. I purchased it specifically for it's stain resistance because I have pets. They may be called "Just Remnants," but their service was excellent. We had to replace carpeting in a downstairs bedroom. I found several options among the extensive inventory and easily scheduled installation. I thought it was very reasonably priced. I gave them the dimensions my husband had measured, but they came out to verify them before the installation date. For an extra charge, they moved several heavy pieces of furniture out of the room and back in. The installation work was excellent -- great attention to detail. Now I'm trying to think of another project to do with Just Remnants! Maybe an area rug? read more

We left there about an hour ago. We won't be back, ever! We wanted a small remnant for our office, so we wanted a piece cut. When we asked about it at the desk, the VERY RUDE guy said " I can cut it for you, I'm $65 an hour Methinks good customer service would say I can cut if for you for an amount. I was afraid to ask how long it would take, the RUDE guy probably has an hour minimum! If you are the owner reading this, maybe a customer relationship conversation should be had with this VERY RUDE guy (Maybe that was the owner, but I will never go back there again!) I'm a $200 an hour guy myself, the clerks at Mcdonalds are nicer than this guy! read more

Just popped in on a project Saturday when we met Dennis. Dennis was so nice, not in a rush and made us a great deal! We just moved to a cute but old and outdated Aframe in Mill Valley. We wanted to recover the carpeted stairs bc the smell was very unpleasant. Seeing as it is not our home we did not want to spend too much money and told Dennis all this. Though we were being thrifty Dennis treated us as if we were carpeting the entire home with his time and advise. We left with plenty of carpet and padding for the job for less than $150. Well, now with this Shelter in Place I needed to come here for some random piece of laminate flooring to make a make shift dance floor at home. I reached out to them for flooring for a new floors in kitchen and bath. They came and measured and was very friendly. He didn't bring the samples that I had hoped he would after viewing their website. Then heard that they don't have any samples of the items on their website. Then I heard nothing from them. I had to call them to check in. Had to go down to the store to view their samples they had on hand, nothing I liked, so they were going to order me a sample. Then heard nothing again about those samples. I called again to follow up, and he said he didn't write down the samples I wanted, and asked what it was again. I provided the requested material samples, and then got a text that his supplier didn't provide those materials, so had to reach out to another supplier. Now a week and a half later, still haven't heard any updates. I moved on from this vendor, and won't bother calling again about any updates since they obviously don't want my business. read more

Went in Saturday with my 82 year old mother. We needed a remnant cut on two sides. The gentlemen who appeared to be the owner said he couldn't help us as he was "sore from rowing" the day prior. I offered to help him move and cut the remnant. He refused. This guy needs to take a page out of the customer service 101 book. Won't be back. read more

Such a waste of time. Had to go in person because they don't keep inventory online. We needed carpet for one small hallway. We were quoted $5,000 which is a totally insane price for a regular rug that isn't wool. For that price we'll get marble tile. I am completely shocked at this price and will be shopping around. There is no way this tiny hallway costs more than $1000 to carpet. read more

These guys did a nice job, the scheduling was great. Installation is good. This shop has mostly neutral color carpets, which was fine for us. We didn't need anything crazy. I think the prices of the padding are a little higher but it still worked out. We took one quick visit to the store, then the rest was done by phone other than the measurement and install. Credit Gene Burns on KGO for my learning about this place, as he's constantly talking about how great they are. With his promotion of this place in mind, we decided to trek up to San Rafael to see what this place is all about. To surprise, this is a serious dive/hole in the wall, located right off the freeway, on the corner of a grungy looking little 4 business strip mall. Based on their facade and location, I came very close to passing on checking them out, which would have been a big mistake. I guess that old proverb about judging a book by it's cover comes into play. Inside wasn't much better, as there were reams upon reams of carpet stacked and piled up against each other, all over the place. Initially I thought that it was going to be difficult to search through all of the carpet that they had, in an attempt to find what we were looking for. Shortly, a sales person come over to introduce himself, and explain what they had, and how to find what we wanted. In the first room they had their finer, more expensive carpets, which were all wool. The back room contained all of their synthetic carpets. Determining the pricing was a bit awkward, as they all had big red tags, but you had to look at the price per sq yard, which is in the upper corner. They also have some strange rules regarding how much a given piece of carpet can be purchased, unless you wanted the whole roll. Based on the fact that we'd checked out a few other remnant places, these folks by far had the best selection, and great prices. We bought a little 3'x5' wool remnant for the entry way, and a very nice 8'x10' wool shag carpet, to go under the bed. I don't know if we could have found the quality of the carpet that we bought anywhere, regardless of the price ... it's that nice. We had the edges bound, and the following weekend came to pick it up, and all was great! Good service, great products! read more

I am very happy with the installation. I removed one star because as the guys were checking the room upon arrival, one was standing in the hallway (wooden floor, there was obviously no work to be done there), and he opened a door to look inside, closed it quickly when I walked around to them. I was surprised at how overwhelming choosing a carpet color, pattern and size could be when I started the process. Fortunately, the folks at Just Remnant made the experience painless and stress free. At first I thought there were far too many options and that I'd never be able to narrow my search. The Just Remnants staff stepped in to explain the different types of carpet in regards to price, feel, quality, etc. and helped me to focus on the things that (as it turned out) were important to my decision making. By filling them in on the size of my room and a few aesthetic likes and dislikes, they pointed me to several options. I was given a few samples to take home (no same day purchasing pressure!) and when I returned with my decision they suggested the perfect size and had the carpet ready for pick up shortly thereafter. We have been customers of Just Remnants for at least 15 years, maybe more. We always look them up when we need some carpeting work and have very often found what we need from them at a reasonable price, with slid installers. Last month we decided to redo two bedrooms whose carpet (originally purchased from Just Remnants, actually) had 15 years of hard use. We found a good Berber wool piece there, and had them install it. We had a little disagreement with the installer on what we had told JR about some bookshelves to move, which we knew we had mentioned but that the salesman did not remember. JR did not make a fuss about it and agreed to take care of it. The installers did a good job and did not leave any damage behind, as is often the case. They cleaned up behind them and left the work site better than it had been before them: nice touch! So, for us, a good long term contact---we'll keep on looking them up when we have a need. They are a good resource in the Bay Area. read more

Do not stand by their end product. 1.5 year carpet buckled and poorly installed. Had to call a carpet guy who Just Remnants gave me the name of, paid more $ to have it re-stretch and he confirmed, poor install on the original job. This vendor even called Just Remnant to tell them the original job was not done properly. The manager, say nothing, no apologizes, let me see what we can do. Would never recommended them. read more

We just did a major remake of all our floors, 3200 square feet worth. From the get go, Fred (the owner) and his crew made the whole project go totally smooth from start to finish. We ordered wood floors for the downstairs and carpeting throughout the upstairs including the stairs. The quality and price were excellent, within our budget and everyone was totally professional an courteous. His crew of 4 showed up In American Canyon, on schedule and worked efficiently. They were thorough, meticulous: even with the base molding that had to be removed and then replaced, and cleaned up at the end of each of the four days it took to complete the project as promised. Definitely a high recommendation for Just Remnants, Fred, his quality of service, and products, and his crew; all top notch.` read more

I purchased wall to wall carpet for a couple rooms from Just Remnants and the only reason I am giving two stars is the price of the carpet itself. They are very inexpensive for decent carpet. The customer service during the purchasing and quoting process was good as well. However, the customer service when it came to installation was horrible. Do yourself a favor and just buy the carpet from them and HIRE YOUR OWN INSTALLER. We uninstalled the carpet ourselves so that we could paint the base boards ahead of time. We put the uninstalled carpet in the backyard to have it out of the way. When it came time for the installers to come, they did not properly hammer down the tack strips, which lead to very sharp tacks sticking through the carpet, puncturing the soles of our feet. We had to go back and hammer down all of the exposed strips ourselves. The installers also never hauled away the uninstalled carpet. I had to call at least 5 times over the span of 3 weeks to get the carpets hauled away. When they finally did show up, they didn't take all of it! They claimed that there was more carpet than just two rooms worth... At the end of the day, we uninstalled the carpet, had to finish the installation by hammering the tack strips down properly, and arrange for a dump run to get rid of the old carpet. None of which was recognized or credited! Again, do yourself a favor and just buy carpet here. Do NOT use one of their installers. read more

I found just remnants on yelp because I was looking for a 4 x 7 piece of carpet for my closet. All of the other large carpet companies force you to buy a 12 foot piece. When I arrived at just remnants the sales associate was pleasant and very helpful. I found a gorgeous piece of carpet for under $100 without too much waste.
