There really is no shortage of Peruvian restaurants in the NOVA area, but as far as I'm concerned, Justa's Chicken is the lip smacking best!!! First off, they are open early on Sundays, which is appropriate since their chicken is tantamount to a religious experience. Loaded with all the right spices, it is a mouthwatering feast that is bound to satisfy the most discerning roasted chicken aficionado. There were a lot choices from which to choose in Justa's Chicken Heaven, but I opted for their batter dipped breast of chicken, a succulent slab of all things yum. And as if this delicious meal wasn't enough, Justa's Chicken's selection of traditional Peruvian sauces took my bird to the next level. (Trust me the creamy white sauce is the bomb!). Two friends suggested I give this place a try so all three of us dropped in for dinner one recent evening. I remember when this place used to be a pizza hut, so seeing it transformed in this way was interesting. The interior is attractively set up and we were ushered to our seats without much of a wait. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived which was surprising considering we were there around 7:30 pm. The server seemed polite enough, and we worked through our menus while she got us water. Many of the offerings here are surprisingly expensive for a Peruvian restaurant, though in fairness some of the entrees did seem intricately put together. Things started going downhill from here. My water smelled and tasted surprisingly like chlorine for some reason. My two friends' waters were fine, so I politely asked for another glass (which she brought out a few minutes later). I ordered the 1/2 la brasa chicken (which is the only meal close to $10 on the menu) and the three of us received our orders without too much delay. I was surprised to find the chicken bland and unremarkable, and despite the hot sauce and mustard that came with the meal, there wasn't much flavor to be added to it. I did opt for the Yuca side dish and it was excellent, I'd definitely consider getting that in the future. After limping through the meal, when we received the checks, we found out that an 18% GRATUITY IS ADDED TO ALL CHECKS AUTOMATICALLY! This isn't just for parties but for ALL customers. I would have given our waitress a tip approximate to this value, though if we had received markedly bad service you would have had to tip well anyway. I can tell you from my experience as a server and bartender that guaranteed tips always result in service staff not working as hard. If you want good service, you make your servers earn their tips. This is a bad policy and I have never seen universal automatic gratuities anywhere aside from here. Glad most places are sensible enough not to have it. In summary, the food is unremarkable, the prices vary, and you'd better pray you get good service because you'll be paying for it regardless. I would not return here. Overall: 2.0 stars ---------------- Pros: - Attractive interior. - Good selection of liquors at the bar for such a small place. - Interesting free nut appetizer tasted nice. - Several TVs if you're into watching sports while you eat. Cons: - The water tasted like chlorine until they replaced my glass. Not sure what that was all about. - Some of the food can be good, though much of it is bland and unremarkable. - Prices are pretty high considering the quality of food you're getting. - This place has an automatic 18% gratuity regardless of party size or your experience. Not cool and not a good business policy. - This place doesn't know what it wants to be: it's half sports bar and half quasi-fancy Peruvian dining. I enjoyed this place. It's quaint but the food is very good and with good portions. It was a bit off-putting that the TV's were set to novelas (soap operas in Spanish) but no big deal. The service was prompt and friendly and I look forward to coming back! read more

I dont know what happened to this place but it used to be sooooo good. The past 3 or 4 times I've gone the food has been inconsistent. Seems like the recipes changes every time. The chicken chicharron was very very salty the last time we got it. The portion was also pretty small for the price! The prices have gone up a lot as well. The tallarines saltados came out different everytime. Sometimes the sauce is browner than other times so I don't know what they're doing differently. I miss the old justas. Probably the best tasting Peruvian chicken I have had! I know there are so many of them here in the DMV but damn, Justa's is pretty damn good! The chicken was cooked perfectly, the skin was seasoned nicely (different seasoning than I've tasted at other places) and crispy, not too crispy just perfect! Oh it was so good I had a side of rice and a salad. The rice was just plain white rice (jasmine I think) but however they cooked it they did a great job. The salad was a simple romaine, red onion and tomato salad with some delicious lemon dressing. Again... this place was amazing! I wish I would've discovered this place when I lived right down the street, but I'll be back for sure! Also, the service was great. The waitress was really nice and attentive. read more

There is something about reading the word "Authentic" before Type of food! Just's Chicken Peruvian Bar and Grill In Woodbridge, VA was my choice. And what a choice it was. Had Peruvian Chicken Soup; peas, carrots, potato, onion, garlic, cilantro, shredded chicken. With the main meal of a 1/2 Slow roasted Chicken, and spicy rice and beans. My fiancée has been coming here for years. He always gets the Lomo Saltado. Although it's priced a little high it's delusions! I order the full fried tilapia and I.t was amazing. My family and I went to eat lunch to this place to begin with there is not hand sanitizer available for customers, they do clean the tables with windex. About the food we order ceviche, as Peruvian it was a big disappointment that their ceviche it didn't have any flavor, the service was ok only one waitress for a big crow. The roasted chicken was ok. It's unfortunate because because the brunch it's good and we want to try for lunch but no going back again and be ready for a long wait time. read more

My husband and I came here to check out their Peruvian chicken. We always pass by Justa's, located inside an old, Pizza Hut-turned building. Their menu offers the Peruvian chicken, appetizers (ceviche, tamale, etc.), beef/poultry/seafood entrees, soups, and desserts. They also have lunch specials and Happy Hour from 4-7PM. When you are seated, you get a small stainless bowl of roasted corn - these nice and salty, and great to munch on while trying to figure out what to order. We had the 1/2 Chicken, which comes with a cup of salad and a choice of one side order (fries, yuca, rice, rice & beans, beans, or tortillas; we opted for the fries) - the chicken was juicy and very meaty; the aji sauce was more on the mustard-focused side and tangy, but complemented the chicken well (I like it when it's more salty and creamy). The fries were your typical steak fries. I was also curious about their Tamal con Salsa Criolla, which was a corn tamale with sliced green olives - I wasn't much of a fan of this tamale as it was more on the wet side, and the sliced olives (usually a lover of olives) didn't really help. It came with a side of diced red onions, carrots, and cilantro. Our server was very nice and friendly, but she also kept forgetting to get our horchata drink :P This place seems to be a popular spot for the locals and their families; the interior is dark, a little humid (no AC, unless it was kept to a bare minimum; ventilation wasn't that great, either), and I liked the red decor. Strangely, I've never had their chicken. The rest of their food is uh-mazing. From the chicharron to the tacu tacu, the lomo saltado, and tallarin... Everything's great here. There's a full bar and pisco sours to boot! The ambiance is like a Pizza Hut - still casual but with better music and cleaner. Sometimes they have Inca Kola in the glass bottle and that just brings it up another notch. If I had any complaints, I'd mention them, but I don't, so 5 stars. PS: The desserts are pretty good, too. The waiting time is one of the most recent issues with the restaurant.The staff is unoccupied with other customers and take about 5 minutes to even come to your table. I've probably eaten here 15-20 times and it's been good all but one of those times. I usually get the whole chicken with fries and rice/beans and plantains. Their green sauce is usually dialed in and nice and spicy but the yellow sauce tends to be a littler thinner instead of a really thick and creamy sauce. I've written off this restaurant, unfortunately. Many mixed feelings: drinks are strong and good, and service is pretty great, but their portions are TINY, and they keep getting smaller and smaller. I just paid $19 for a plate of jalea. At Granja de Oro (Falls Church) and other Peruvian places, it costs the same bit you get THREE TIMES as much as what you get here. I got the jalea with the hopes of sharing it with my table, but it only covered half of a small square plate, the other half with yuca. The flavor was also pretty lackluster. That's not the only dish I've had this issue with. El arroz chaufa and the lomo saltado are also tiny TV dinner portions. read more

I started going to Justa's since they opened and they were great at beginning , but the quality of the food has gone down as prices have risen. Also there is a 20% tip included and the service is terrible. I am Peruvian and I don't find this place authentic at all. I gave this place many chances even after the prices went up and I was completely disappointed every single time. My last experience: I went with my sisters and two friends we ordered 2 soups, 2 ceviches, 4 drinks and 2 appetizers. The soup broth tasted like straight up water and the ceviche was missing flavor and salt, it didn't even taste like it had lemon "which is the main ingredient". We all left with out finishing our food and ended up paying 120 dollars for it. Never again! Instead of Justa's it should be called "INjustas" which is unfair in Spanish LoL read more

I had high expectations for Justa's Chicken but it was not that great. I'll start off with the good. There was an ample amount of parking on the front and the right side of the business. The employees at Justa's Chicken was very friendly and polite. I ordered a whole chicken, yuca, plantain, and rice w/ beans. The chicken was not that flavorful. I feel it was missing something but I can't figure out what. The sauces definitely helped save the taste of the chicken. The fried yuca was not fresh. It was moist and dry inside. Note: I got take out but I ate the food not long after so it wasn't sitting for a long period of time. The plantain was so so, which was disappointing because I love plantain with a passion. Lastly, I did enjoy the rice and beans but the majority of the meal was a big let down for me. read more

I just had dinner here with the family and the food was amazing! I personally ordered the chicharon de pollo, this dish consists of fried chicken strips, salad and yucca. The chicken was juicy and crispy, the yucca portions were right and perfectly made unlike other places where the yucca is huge and dry and the salad was great and fresh. Apart from the unforgettable food, the staff was really nice and professional, our waitress always made came back to check on up on us. And finally, the best part was the speed of service! The food was not only fresh and amazing but got to the table in no time, while sipping water and chatting everyone at our table received their food at the same time which in tonight's case was 7 different dishes.
