Charlie's Auto Refinishing - Cheap wiring connectors used and wire mess

    Charlie's Auto Refinishing

I wish I'd never heard about this shop. First my car was quoted 13,000 and that was with the…read moreagreement it needed both quarter panels and rear tail panel. And the car was going to be completely stripped to bare metal. Original quote was 13,000. Sent him 15,000 right off the bat because I'm a good person and realize he gave an extremely good quote. Along the way had to buy new fenders, hood and trunk were added. As well as being told that he wanted to put tubular control arms on. So ended up over the course adding more that I would give. The underside, inside and trunk were never stripped to bare metal. Tubular control arms were never put on. He destroyed my 4 core radiator and put a smaller 2 core that my electric fans didn't fit so they were zip tied on it with 1/4" zip ties. And we're talking about a stroked 496 that would never work with that tiny radiator. Didn't even tell me he did this. The car came back with runs all over it and paint flaws. The whole length under rear bumper is rough can't post pictures of it because the angle. Will post pictures of very visible runs. The car was supposed to take 6 months but ended up being there for 2 and a half years. And then I had to pay the shop that cut and polished it 1500 was never part of the quote. All though I'd told him I would pay a additional 7,000 and he said just give him 5,000 because of the polish and it coming back with no headliner. Said it would be 500. Well it ended up being 750. Replacing the radiator with one sufficient for the car was another 700. And then I purchased a All American Wiring Harness for the car since being completely apart he agreed to putting one in. He hired a person he recommended to do it. I ended up paying that person 2,000 for doing wiring and fine tuning engine. The car came back a complete wiring mess. Nothing was soldered it had cheap butt connectors with bare wire showing beyond the insulation in many spots and wire nests everywhere. Ended up taking it to a shop up here to clean up and go thru and solder and run and wrap all the wires nicely. Another 3,500. He got the 68 Chevelle SS stripes upside down and rather then take the chance of it taking another who knows how long to fix them I said leave them. My left drivers door was way off. When I called and said my door wouldn't close he said to who ever was in his shop she's saying the door won't close. And proceeds to tell me everything lined up there and that there were no flaws because he looked it over before it went to the detail place that buffed it. Well the shop I took it to got it much closer but still not perfect like the right side. And clearly he didn't look it over very good because if he did he must have thought those runs were acceptable. What ever you don't take your car to this shop. Pay the extra and have someone that does quality work. Oh and then because it was winter time and roads were nasty I had to pay another 1,500 to have it towed 9 hours in a enclosed trailer. After being told multiple times if would be done before two show seasons.
