Made reservations well in advance for three nights - a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. I also put in to use my certificates for a full upgrade to one of the nice suites. I was notified by email that I was upgraded. When I arrived, I was given a room on the third floor, even though the hotel has seven floors. I was surprised because I have a high floor request in my profile. I got to the room and it was about as big as a postage stamp. It was not a suite. It faced another building. She had told me it had a balcony, but Romeo and Juliette would have killed each other, not themselves with a balcony this small.
I was going out for a snack and I saw the lady at checkin again. She asked me about the room. I told her I wasn't happy and that it was too small for me. I explained that I couldn't even walk around the bed with all my suitcases on the floor. She said she was surprised I was given that room as a platinum upgrade and that all the rooms in the hotel are very different and that she would change it while I was out getting a snack. When I came back, they showed me a different room, which was much larger. It had the same small balcony, but there were actually two of them now and it faced the square. I took the new room despite that it was right outside the elevator. Another thing I don't like and is in my Marriott profile, but I didn't feel like making an issue of the room again. I saw her again later and asked about the upgrade and the beautiful suites I see on the website. She explained that my upgrade using certificates was actually denied. This was a complimentary upgrade based on my status. (Lifetime Platinum). She was very patient and sweet.
I have to say about this hotel. All of the staff were super nice, very friendly and efficient. Nacho the concierge hooked me up with several restaurants and reservations while I was there. He also hooked me up with a VIP pass to the big Cortez Ingles department store (not usable at the small one nearby).
There was a guy that worked in the restaurant that took good care of me too. Angel? Maria, another receptionist, must've made another key at least three times because I kept losing them. She was always so pleasant just like everybody else.
The hotel has a full spa, but I didn't use it, but it looked nice.
It also had the most incredible gym. That was a perfect temperature and really nice techno gym equipment. Nothing was broken. Everything was clean. There was water and individually wrapped swipes in the gym as well. Wish it had an ab board. But it did have a lot of things, including a recumbent bike that worked.
The location of the hotel was perfect. You could walk to so many restaurants and stores.
Luckily, the room had lots and lots of towels because I had some challenge getting the maid service. The first day I said I didn't want it but then later in the day asked for it, but it never came. On Sunday morning I asked if I could be prioritized in the queue for maid service. I had to ask more than once. On the 4th request, I started by asking if the hotel even had a housekeeping service.
The breakfast that comes with the hotel is incredible. Don't miss out on that. Probably the best eggs Benedict I ever had in my life, but that's a separate review.
I could go on and on about the shower. The design is very odd and resulted in the floor getting wet. Also the handheld is not at an angle. It has a rain shower too that is very high. The entire design is made for a very tall male, not a petite female trying not to get her hair wet! However, this is definitely the best shower pressure I've ever had in my life in a hotel shower. Ever!
Would stay here again! Gym, shower pressure, concierge, restaurant, checkin all attentive. But it wasn't cheap! read more
