Both entrées looked great, but the flavors were milder than expected. The salmon needed salt, the green beans tasted different from what we're used to, and the "dirty rice" was more like sweet fried rice than the Cajun-style version back home. The ribeye and fries also benefited from extra seasoning. Ironically, the mashed potatoes and gravy ended up being the star of the meal and we found ourselves dipping just about everything into the gravy. The sweet tea also missed the mark for us, tasting more like powdered instant tea than the brewed Southern sweet tea we were expecting. That said, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes, making it a great value for families or larger groups. A friend remarked that he wouldn't even touch any other isaw, unless he is sure that utter care was taken by the vendor in cleaning the innards. We asked for candles but it didn't help much, so we transferred to the other side since it looked like there were fewer flies. While eating, I was fanning our table almost the whole time so my lola and sister could eat properly. My lola is a senior, so she couldn't really keep shooing them away. It was honestly uncomfortable even the CCTV could show how chaotic our table looked just trying to eat in peace. After eating, I spoke with the manager to share my concern. He explained that they already do regular fumigation and use traps, which I appreciate. But he didn't apologize or acknowledge the hassle of our experience. I suggested maybe raising it with the Clark management team for wider fumigation because the problem might be beyond just their area. Lastly, when I mentioned I had my dog, the manager said I should've just left my pet in the car which was disappointing to hear. It's not safe to do that, and it felt like they don't really care much about pet owners even if we're following the outdoor-only rule. The food is great, but the outdoor dining experience really needs improvement. Cleanliness and comfort are just as important as taste especially since flies can carry diseases.
