Texas Joe's House of Ribs - Salmon and Ribeye Steak Entree's with green beans, dirty rice, fries and mashed potatoes with gravy.

The restaurant has a Texas Roadhouse feel with dark wood interiors, and the staff fully embraces the theme with cowboy hats, boots, and jeans. The menu is extensive, offering everything from steaks and ribs to burgers, seafood, and Tex-Mex, and the portions are generous. We ordered the grilled salmon and the ribeye. Both entrées looked great, but the flavors were milder than expected. The salmon needed salt, the green beans tasted different from what we're used to, and the "dirty rice" was more like sweet fried rice than the Cajun-style version back home. The ribeye and fries also benefited from extra seasoning. Ironically, the mashed potatoes and gravy ended up being the star of the meal and we found ourselves dipping just about everything into the gravy. The sweet tea also missed the mark for us, tasting more like powdered instant tea than the brewed Southern sweet tea we were expecting. That said, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes, making it a great value for families or larger groups. Overall, it's a fun place to get a filling meal after a day at the beach. Keep in mind that the flavors are more locally adapted than authentically Texan.

The food order is properly itemized and priced in the printed order slip. It gets full very quickly nearing meal times. We had to wait a short while after placing our order at around 5:45 PM. Students, office workers, and tourists are the present diners when we ate there. What I did not like was the setting and service. It did come a long way now that it has a dedicated seating area and a covered roof compared to yesteryears when it was only a stand-up kiosk. It would have been nice if they went all the way and cemented the flooring and have chosen more presentable table and chairs. Durint the time we were present dining, we also overheard another customer having their order wrong. He ordered something around 20 sticks, but what came in the take-out bag was only around 16 sticks. It was a few sticks short. Lastly, do not expect to get good value when eating here. The small portions of food on the sticks are a little pricey and can add up quicky with just a few sticks ordered.

It serves a variety of innards and offal, which I think shows the ingenuity and the resourcefulness of our street food eating habits -nothing goes to waste. On the menu are different kinds of isaw or pig and chicken intestines, and other adventurous stuff such as pig ears, tripe, gizzards and liver. People would actually line up and end up smelling like the smoke from the outdoor grill, which goes to show how good the isaw is. I personally don't like isaw very much, and I have already shifted to my veg diet when I came to UP, but my friends swear by the quality of the isaw sold by Mang Larry's. A friend remarked that he wouldn't even touch any other isaw, unless he is sure that utter care was taken by the vendor in cleaning the innards. They say that the stuff sold by Mang Larry's taste fresh and clean, and free from that undesirable taste of chicken poop that any amateur isaw vendor wouldn't think of cleaning out thoroughly. Anyway, I heard Mang Larry was able to send his kids to college because of his trade, to which I say, well done! Excellent job, hardworking and charismatic Mang Larry!

*Don't eat here if you'll be dining outside*…read more My family has been eating here since they opened because the food especially their aged beef is really good and always high quality. But today was honestly disappointing. We ate around 5PM with my lola, my younger sister, and my dog. I understand that pets are only allowed outside, and that's fine. I'm used to that setup. But the outdoor area today had so many flies around 20 or more, not exaggerating. We asked for candles but it didn't help much, so we transferred to the other side since it looked like there were fewer flies. While eating, I was fanning our table almost the whole time so my lola and sister could eat properly. My lola is a senior, so she couldn't really keep shooing them away. It was honestly uncomfortable even the CCTV could show how chaotic our table looked just trying to eat in peace. After eating, I spoke with the manager to share my concern. He explained that they already do regular fumigation and use traps, which I appreciate. But he didn't apologize or acknowledge the hassle of our experience. I suggested maybe raising it with the Clark management team for wider fumigation because the problem might be beyond just their area. Lastly, when I mentioned I had my dog, the manager said I should've just left my pet in the car which was disappointing to hear. It's not safe to do that, and it felt like they don't really care much about pet owners even if we're following the outdoor-only rule. The food is great, but the outdoor dining experience really needs improvement. Cleanliness and comfort are just as important as taste especially since flies can carry diseases.

I looked at the lettuce and I couldn't bring myself to eat it (looked washed but not thoroughly enough). In fact, a spider crawled out of one and make its way up my arm. I also didn't trust the water. There were definitely floaties in there. It can get really busy, so get there early. It can be hard to find parking. Staff was friendly.
