Solid radio station. There are around 30 clear fm radio stations in the San Luis Obispo area. 15 of…read morethose are in Spanish, leaving only 15 American stations left. Of these, KCPR is pretty good. They play a variety of music through a large variety of DJ's (unlike most stations which have 2-6 DJ's). I don't like some of the music, but this is just a result of how many unique songs they play a day. Some days they have a news segment, which is usually on top of breaking stories from around the world. Listening is a good way to support College Students who are actively pursuing their careers in the Music industry. Someone in the reviews said it sounds like the DJ's lack interpersonal skills. Radio isn't supposed to be the scripted soap opera between songs that you've become used to. Someone else said that the DJ's queue songs from Spotify... I know a couple DJ's at the station, they work all week on their sets, cleaning explicit music themselves and cleverly weaving similar tracks into a 2-hour long show. The best part about this radio station is that they aren't selling anything. If music is played only to attract more listeners to sell ads, then only the most popular music will be played. On KCPR, you get to listen to different people's favorite music and try to understand why they like it themselves. 91.3 KCPR Rocks!

I used to stay up from 2 to 4 AM on the East Coast just to listen to it! And their DJ was so hot, that dude Dylan, oh man. What happened to him??? He always took my requests. Now every time I'm in San Luis, I just resort to Pandora because the only station I ever liked is full of mediocre contemporary pop that sounds like 8 dumpsters doing a circle pit in the cafeteria. Every single show on the station is a travesty and I want to reach through the speakers and throttle the tired, lazy DJs.
