First she was bitching about the price the owner quoted me to gel paint my daughter's nails wasn't high enough. I went today to get my eye brows waxed and it was extremely disappointing. Paid $15 and still tipped even though it wasn't deserved. She went so quickly that there were so many baby hairs left over, it was easy to tell she didn't care and didn't want to be doing it. She didn't even trim my eyebrow hairs and i've been to soooo many places and this is routine. She didn't give me a mirror after she finished to look at my eyebrows which is also a routine at all places i've been. It's like she didn't want me to see the little effort she put into it. I remember K nails use to be my go too spot when I used to live here years ago so i'm not sure what happened. I got a full set and pedi at 2 different times this week, same man did both. During my pedi, my legs were drenched in water and his nails felt like they were piercing my skin when he was painting the nails. When I walked in to get my full set I said I didn't want gel nails, and he began to work and continuously buffed my skin and not nails, I'm surprised I was not bleeding. I kept pulling my hand back and did vocalize a few times he was hurting me. Once I was done I was surprised my nails were completely dry and he said "yeah that happens with gel nails" and I told him I did not want gel nails and he said "ok, I'll give you a discount!" Got my bill and checked the pricing board and it was the same price. Leaving today my hands are sore and I feel like I was cheated out of money. DO NOT GO HERE!! I went to get tips and dip powder. The tech argued with me for 15 minutes trying to convince me to get acrylics, which I didn't want because they're more damaging to my nails. She almost broke my thumb twisting it and didn't stop when I told her it hurt. When I paid, she watched me while I tipped (15%, which I think was generous given her rude behavior and rushing to get it done). Two days later, one of my nails broke. If I'm going to pay $70 for a set, they'd better last me more than two days. I came back to get my nail fixed and she laughed at me when I showed it to her. This is by far one of the WORST customer service experiences I've ever had. I work in customer service, so I understand that staff can get burned out, but this lady was just plain rude. read more

This salon is friendly and clean. I enjoy the scrub and hot towels during my mani/pedis. The biggest downfall for me is the steep price. I came in with clean nails- just needed a bit of shaping- and got a regular pedicure and a dip mani set (natural nails, no tips). These services totaled $95 + tip. read more

I went today (7/10/2020). The store was pretty clean but the woman doing my nails refused to wear a face mask and her coworker kept telling her to put the mask back on, but she kept taking it back off. She was also coughing so much that she put in a cough drop and just kept painting my nails like nothing was wrong. There were just a couple other people in the salon, and some of them were not wearing a mask. read more

I went yesterday for a gel pedicure. Unfortunately, the service was not great. The guy I had "Vinh", used a tool that fell on the floor. I feel I could not relax as I was worried/uncomfortable. He was also talking about my toenail and showing it to another employee. He made me feel uncomfortable. Most employees wore a mask, but not the man who was with me, and he kept coughing. Lastly, he cut my toe. I tried to call and speak to a manager or owner twice, however, they said the manager/owner will be on vacation for "months" and was rude. I always come back to this nail salon. It is a bit pricey compared to other nail salons I've been to. It was pretty busy considering it was Prom weekend. I went their earlier to ask several questions about the nails and the price and I came back later and the same lady helped me right away. She kept checking in to see if I liked the nails and she explained to me what she was gonna do exactly with the rhinestones and offered different things so I could stay in my budget. Went in today to get my eyebrows waxed since my normal place was closed. It took the lady longer than I've ever had an eyebrow wax take. And they look AWFUL. So upsetting because there isn't a thing I can do about it now. I left the place wondering if they looked even and it just got worse as the day went on. OK. This...was a very weird experience. First of all, it was $35 for a shellac manicure - too much. But I was visiting a friend and this place seemed nice and was open. But that wasn't the weird part. My friend was sitting next to me as I got my nails done and was talking to me about a tattoo she wanted done. Suddenly, the guy doing my nails says that he is getting a tattoo. I don't mind at all chatting with whoever does my nails - it's usually nice. But... He then voluntarily says, "It's my ex's name." "Oh..." (I mean, how do you even fake respond to that as if it's not really weird...to anyone let alone a stranger?) Then he starts talking about how she just broke up with him. And he honestly looks like he's about to lose it right then and there. Like about to cry. And I felt bad, I'm human you know, but this was not what I signed up for. Then he tells me about how she lives in Louisiana. Then he says she's in high school (?!). I was trapped. I mean, he had my HANDS. Then he says he is going to go visit her. And that she says he works too much. Then he says he's only lived here for two weeks. Then he says his best friend's mom is dying, and that he's like a son to her. Then when his coworker comes by he says to her, "I just want to go smoke!" Well excuse me. I'm sorry to inconvenience you. Also, they were out of the color I wanted, which was the most boring color ever. It was sorta obnoxious, but whatever. He did a good job shaping. Altogether, the manicure itself looks good. But based on how much initial psychiatric consultations cost, plus what I paid for my manicure, I think I'm owed an eyebrow wax and two mani-pedis (hot stone and shellac). Then we could call it even. EDIT: The owner/manager though seemed VERY nice. I think my experience would have been great had he done my nails. I'm not a super regular here, or at any nail place, but K Nails really deserves an updated review. My experience here is on par with other nail salons in the area. Clean, good service, the staff does what they can to make you comfortable etc... The prices are great and the basic pedicure & manicure are just fine. While I'm there, I often notice "regulars" and they seem to have a very good rapport with their service tech. The one thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is I wish they'd communicate a little bit, just friendly light conversation. The service here is very slow. I waited in the spa pedicure for 30 minutes before they came over. It seemed as though the customers were used to this so it didn't look like it bothered anyone. The pedicure itself was okay except that the lady doing my nails answered her cell phone and worked at snail speed. My two other friends got a pedi and eyebrow wax before I was even done. The massage was really more like a rub. The paraffin wax was really nice but the whole experience was not relaxing and I felt I needed to pay attention to her the whole time. This Place is Immaculate! Been here several times and always pleased. In the first place, this place is CLEAN. (If you want a good case of the heebie-jeebies, go to the salon on down Rt. 29, across from iHop --- that place is downright nasty.) It's refreshing to walk into a nail salon and not be afraid to stick your feet into the water. The people here have always been pleasant and attentive and I think that they do a good job. I thought I had written a review for this place a while ago, but I don't see it anywhere. The first time I had gone to K Nails, they did a good job on my nails, but the second time I went really put me off in never going back again, except I did, which then cemented in me in never going back. I guess since there weren't enough people working that day, the nail technician thought it was appropriate in doing both our nails at the same time. So for large intervals at a time, both of us were just sitting there doing nothing while he'd work on one of us. That was going to be my last time, but a friend wanted to get our nails done and they were the closest salon nearby. So I chalked up my last experience as a fluke and went back. We both asked for a nail design, but to surprise us(people are good at different things) My friend got a very lovely intricate design. The design I got was a series of basic wavy lines/stripes. I understand that some people are artists or good at doing nail designs. I've had nail technicians tell me they're not good in which case I just opt out of getting a design. It's totally cool with me. Heck, he could have even asked the nail technician doing my friend's nails to do my design. Yeah, first world problems to complain about a nail design, but it was a little bit of everything that ended up piling up. The place is clean and the decor is lovely. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. 2nd time going and I went in for a simple manicure. A cut down and color. The woman who took my information looked as if she just could not be bothered with me. Almost as if I didn't belong. The man who started to do my nails acted the same way. I sat down and wasn't greeted. He didn't smile or even look at me. I had 2 nails that were cut down very short and one cracked nail. He started filing them and said he couldn't do anything with them. A nail technician that couldn't do a simple manicure! I gave him multiple opportunities to rethink that and just do it but he wouldn't budge. I left with nothing done. The atmosphere is terrible and almost stuck up. After I go and talk to the manager or owner, I will never go back there. Which is sad because I heard it was a nice place. I should have asked about the people. They are nasty. read more

I come to K Nails for my regular eyebrow waxing, every 2 weeks. The customer service is great and the service is very clean. They always replace the pad you lay on, wash their hands, and are very gentle and sensitive to how you want your eyes shaped. As for the mani/pedi pricing, I think that they are moderate, but I am willing to pay for a clean service. They always sanitize the tools they use. Lastly, I like the complimentary water and fruit. I've never been to the original location near Hollymead, but I have been to the location on Pantops several times. It's called K Nails 2 or something. The facility is nice, clean, and well-decorated. The staff has been great every time that I've been there! I had surgery last week so I went in for a manicure on crutches, and everyone was so helpful and sweet. Candy even painted my nails at the drying station so I would be more comfortable and wouldn't have to move, and she helped me carry and keep track of all of my stuff. I have been going to the location on Pantops for about 2 years and previously have had no complaints. The young lady who greeted me did not crack a smile and seemed completely disinterested in being there.I honestly had an impulse to walk out her attitude was so bad.I had made an appointment and waited for 20 minutes and had to get up ask what was going on. There was no communication. Perhaps somebody could train the staff to properly greet their clients and explain to them if they are running behind. The actual service I received was fine but I won't be going back as I like to spend my money where people are actually happy to see me. read more

This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to! They deserve less than one star. The towel was so hot they burnt my foot to the point where it's beginning to blister. They cut two of fingers and made them bleed. They left cotton underneath one of my nails and got red polish under one when it was a French acrylic manicure. All of my nails are full of air bubbles. We went back to get a refund & they said "no we don't do that". I showed them the burn on my foot and they tried to say I was lying about it. Why else would I have a fresh burn on my foot after leaving their salon? It was a painful and awful experience with rude employees. Don't waste your time and money here! read more
