NEVER AGAIN!!! ABSOLUTE DISASTER Asides from a couple of employees nobody seem to give a damn about our pets.  First time boarded for a day and they totally messed up the feeding.  Apparently the front receptionist,  Lynh, put the information all wrong. They were apologetic and said it was a fluke. Second time was for 7 days. Just to make sure there're no mistakes I spent 20 minutes going over typed up instructions with Lynh and the feeding person, Jay. They both said they understood and it was clear. On the evening of the 3rd day Katie,  a very caring person, texted me at night saying she was able to feed her lunch at night because our dog didn't eat at lunchtime.  All good. EXCEPT,  she didn't have any lunch instructions as her meals ate breakfast and dinner time. Come to find out that Lynh completely messed up the input of feeding instructions and put the entire full meal for lunch instead of dinner.  Obviously after breakfast our dog wasn't hungry at lunchtime.  So at dinner she didn't get any food, for 3 nights until Katie decided to go out of her way and give her at night. Even the meals she got was only partial. Her meal instruction  fresh food plus kibble.  Well, they never gave her the kibble!!! I got the gallon size zip lock bag back and it was still full!!! Our poor dog was starved first a week, barely getting a full meal per day. We picked her up on the 20th,  and she looked thin. I weighted her st home upon arrival. In 6 nights she list 3 lbs!!! Mind you, we're out of the country on vacation,  and I had to spend hours on the phone,  calling and texting.  I spent an hour on the phone,  going over all the instructions again and found out that most all of input was incorrectly written by Lynh.  The problem is that, even after correcting everything thr feeding people still didn't follow up with the information and didn't add any kibble to her meal!!! It's not that it was hard instructions.  2 meals per day, identical amounts per meal,  and they couldn't or wouldn't even do that!!! I got their best room, costing $105 per day, added their 4 star package so she gets extra play and attention and they wouldn't even give her a proper meal!!! I asked for daily brushing so she gets more hands on pampering,  only to find out that she was brushed only 3 times instead of 6. Even then, she's got more matted hair than when I left her with them. They don't even know how to brush a dog? Fir almost the cost of a hotel room, surely this is not the service one expects.  Even during checkout Lynh didn't even bother to acknowledge her mistakes or even give a simple apology.  As I was telling her about the issues she just ignored me and looked at her screen.   Total incompetence.   As I was there another dog owner was there and was complaining that last time she picked up her dog he was covered in poop!! This time they lost the dog's collar and leash thst he had on him!!! Poor lady took the dog with a training leash. They wouldn't even give her a leash.  They took the dog to her car and took back the leash. How cheap could they be that they lost customer equipment and don't even replace it??? At this price there are so many other places. I'm never taking my pet there. This place may have been a good place but now are so busy they just don't care anymore.  Unfortunately,  even a couple of people care, it's not enough when they have several dozens of dogs in there everyday.  They're desensitized and uncaring to say the least. If you care about your loved pet enough that you take them to such expensive place, then you should care enough not to take them into this place.  Go somewhere else.  I'm sure it's not easy. But we owe it to ourselves and our pets. read more

Had the most awful experience, there was a staff member that was incredibly rude and you can hear her screaming from the back. Absolutely horrible place and would never leave my dog here. I was even able to strike up a conversation with another parent waiting for their dog about how rude some of the staff members are. I would not trust them to take care of my dog. read more

We recently adopted Jarvis, a one-year-old mutt from a local shelter. Our goal was for her to have an extraordinarily social lifestyle: going to work meetings, going to class, walking around a crowded university campus, meeting new people and dogs everyday, etc... all of which would require an EXTREMELY well-mannered dog. After discussing our training goals with Jamie Rahtz (trainer at K9's, West LA), we decided 4 weeks of "takeover training" made the most sense. During the 4 weeks Jarvis stayed at K9's, we received email updates from Jamie (with video and pictures) every few days. It was clear that our pup was making progress: sitting/staying calmly in crowded places, not jumping up to greet strangers, walking to heel on a slack leash, not reacting to noisy distractions (e.g., clattering shopping carts). When we picked her up at the end of the training period, we could see that Jarvis had bonded with the staff at K9's, especially Jamie. We brought home a relaxed and healthy dog, with a SOLID foundation of obedience and socialization. It's obvious that Jamie is an expert dog trainer: gentle, consistent, and with a real heart for working with animals. But what's even more impressive is her expertise as a trainer of humans. :) During our follow-up sessions, Jamie trained US how to be good doggy-parents. She explained things really clearly and gave us specific directions about how to maintain and develop Jarvis's good habits. This is a total success story. Jarvis goes everywhere with us, gets petted by everyone, greets other dogs, lays at our feet during meetings or when we're relaxing at sidewalk cafes. So many people comment on how well-mannered she is. Whenever we have a question, Jamie responds immediately, and we love the security of the lifetime guarantee that comes with takeover training. K9s Only - Jarvis, chillin' with Piggy - Pet Sitting Near Me - Los Angeles, California

There is something really weird about this place, and I cannot put my finger on it. None of the staff members seem to know much about dogs, which is weird because it is supposed to be a facility for dogs only (hence the name). I brought my dog in for an evaluation, and upon first entering the facility, the hair on her back shot up and she became very tense and anxious. This is not her first time at day care, and she loves the people at Bark Bark Day Care and Boarding. For one reason or another, she did not react well to the staff here, though. The guys did not try to introduce themselves to her. In fact, they barely greeted me. I guess they aren't really in need of my business, or maybe they would have been friendlier. Anyway, after filling out forms, the "trainer" I paid to evaluate my dog for 30 minutes (normally $25, but I had a coupon for $10 off ... thank goodness) came out, and my dog was okay with her. She LOVES the people at Bark Bark, so this was disheartening. Plus, any other facility that does evaluations knows that anxiety can be overcome, but it certainly takes longer than 30 minutes at a new place full of new dogs and new smells. Over the phone, I requested my dog be put with the small dogs, but after 30 minutes, the "trainer" came out and told me my dog had "failed" in the big dog room - DUH! She was attacked by a big dog, and she is very reactive, like I said before. So, I asked AGAIN (like I have nothing better to do) for my dog to be evaluated with the small dogs. After waiting yet another 30 minutes, the "trainer" (who barely looks old enough to vote), said my dog was being very reactive and did not pass. Interesting, because she goes to day care at Bark Bark once per week, and she loves them! Her whole body wags when I drop her off at Bark Bark. At K9s, she was very tense. I should have known better than to leave her there. Also, I should note that the staff is really unprofessional. Aside from their failure to greet me or make my dog and me feel welcome, they kids at the front desk were having really inappropriate conversations about how one of the other staff members was dressed poorly and how they thought she was a lesbian. Who cares, and why would you talk negatively about your co-workers like that (especially in front of your customers)? So terrible. Worst $15 I have spent in a long long time. read more

Last fall when I finally signed up for private lessons with Brent, I was recovering from a traumatic brain injury. My dog, Beatrice, a pit - at that point had become protective of me and I had difficulties walking and hearing - and adding a 55 pound dog to the other end of my leash was a challenge due to my diminished strength both emotionally and physically. I wasn't connecting with her the way I knew I needed to. Before we started working with Brent, I had trained Beatrice for a solid year, thinking she was "done". She knew it all. Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave It, Drop It and several tricks. But I realized the one thing truly lacking was my ability to communicate effectively and consistently. Within weeks of our first lesson, our relationship grew in a direction that seemed more like teamwork than a struggle. Her decision-making got better, my "voice" became more clear and we continued to grow while I continued to heal. We completed a series of private lessons, and then last weekend we also completed our Advance Group Class. While we were at our "final exam" at the park, I realized several things. I never had the confidence to take my dog out to a human park by myself. I can do that now. I worried about her reacting to people approaching us, to squirrels, to skateboards. Now if she does, I know what to do and its not a big deal. Beatrice would never be relaxed enough or have the confidence to lay down in the grass in a public place - now she does. I realized a lot of that comes from my ability to relax, to control the situation and to challenge myself. Brent, and K9s only have trained ME. Brent has trained me to be a better communicator, to have more confidence in MYSELF and in my dog. He has taught me to not worry about what anyone else is doing, what they are thinking and to just focus on my dog. Brent has given us freedom. We still have a lot to learn, miles to grow and I'm confident that I know where to come for that assistance. When not busy yelping great reviews, Beatrice also enjoys spending time at their Daycare facility - both on the west side and in Tarzana. We have traveled the country knowing our girl is in the best hands possible while boarding there. They offer walks, spa pampering, swim lessons (in Tarzana) and of course training while you are away. We take our own food, sometimes meds, bedding, bones, whatever...she truly loves going to both K9s Only locations and is always excited when we get there. (she even knows where we are going based on when I exit the freeway....she loves it THAT much!!) I feel like I am taking her to stay with family. Honestly. Back in November of 2016 I took in a stray Mastiff mix that was found in the streets of Palmdale. She was thought to be 6 months. When I took her to the vet, her age was approximated to be 4 months. I have a 5 year old Rottie/ Mastiff mix who went through K9's only obedience training, so I am very familiar with their methods and can't say enough positive things about their loving staff and knowledgeable trainers. Sookie, my 4 month old stray and Kiera, my 5 year old Rottie had problems and there was an incident that led to me getting between them and resulted in me getting bit. I didn't feel like it was intentional so I called Daniela at K9's for advice and to see what could be done to help Sookie and Kiera get along. It started with an evaluation and consultation by the owner, Bobby and Daniela one of the trainers. It was determined that Sookie had defensive aggressive behavior most likely due to being pulled from her litter before she should have been. After the evaluation we decided to move forward with some one on one training to help me gain her respect and control of Sookie to prevent any problems at home or during walks. Things improved with Sookie and Kiera. But Sookie developed aggressive behavior towards other dogs and while our obedience training was effective with commands at home and on the street, as soon as a dog barked at her, she saw red and it took a lot of effort to back her down. Her reaction was so strong that it became dangerous. I was presented with few options and decided to go with the one where I kept Sookie because I felt I owed it to her to give her a happy home. We decided to do a 3 week in-kennel training program with Daniela. It was the best decision I could of made for her. Sookie is at home now and she is a completely different dog! While there are some minor issues to work on, she has changed to be a much more relaxed dog around other dogs and I feel comfortable on walks and I don't worry about her reacting to other dogs even when they bark at her. I'm simply amazed and overjoyed at her transformation. I owe it all to Daniela and her commitment to making Sookie a great dog. I highly recommend K9s Only for your dog. I've been to both locations. I pay extra for the 4 star package so I can receive daily reports with pictures of my dog to make sure she is doing ok. More often than not, I do not receive a report. With my most recent visit, I complained that i did not get daily reports, and for those that I did, I received the same picture twice. The person I spoke with told me the manager would call me to discuss my concern. She also said he (Chris) was covering for the receptionist and likely didn't follow the normal processes. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and trainers at K9s only, especially Michele! To say we had a challenging rescue dog would be an understatement. Our dog suffered from severe separation anxiety, dog reactiveness and in general, lacked any training and grasp of general commands. She was incredibly lovable and sweet but needed a ton of work. We signed her up for a 5-week board and train program and when we returned, she was a completely different dog! We vetted several programs and our very anxious dog took immediately to Michele's calm and positive demeanor. She is now so confident on her leash, calm at home and has wonderful manners with strangers. The entire staff was wonderful and called and emailed regularly with updates on her progress and how they were adjusting their approach to ensure her success along the way. We were thrilled! I should also mention that Michele gave us a lot of great advice on nutrition for our girl who suffers from crazy allergies. As a certified animal nutritionist, she was able to recommend better food and diet options and we were very happy to report that she no longer requires prescriptions for her allergies and her skin. She really takes the time to get to know the individual needs of each dog and goes the extra mile to ensure that she equips dog parents with tools beyond just the weeks that the dogs are training at the facility. We have since boarded her a few times when we have had to travel and she RUNS to the front door without so much as looking back. She LOVES IT there! This weekend was the 2nd time I boarded my dog Leila here. We had a bad experience the first time, but since we had to leave town last minute and K9s Only is really close to where we live, my boyfriend encouraged me to give them another chance. The first time we boarded Leila at K9s Only was in March, when she was only 3 months old. We left her in their care for 3 days and specifically asked to get updates in the form of photos and email check-ins. Anyone who's ever had a puppy can understand the anxiety of leaving their baby for the first time. To our dismay, K9s Only did not send us any form of updates, even though I reminded the staff to send me pictures over email when I didn't hear from them. As a result, we were unable to enjoy our time away. Just to top it off, when we finally picked Leila up, she smelled so gross - like she was sleeping in urine all weekend (we groomed her a day before dropping her off at K9s Only). This time, we only boarded Leila from Saturday to Sunday (today). When I dropped her off, I emphasized to the front desk staff that I wanted photo updates. Needless to say, I didn't receive anything from K9s Only again. Furthermore, the female Hispanic receptionist was very rude when we went to pick up Leila today (Sunday) at noon. I was waiting at the counter to ask her if there was anything else I needed to do/sign before taking Leila home, but she completely ignored me and continued chatting with a coworker. When I told her "thank you," she didn't even bother to make eye contact with me or acknowledge me. This is no way to treat a customer. 2 strikes, we're out. read more

I've been taking my Mini Goldendoodle, Charlie, to K9s only for 2 yrs now and I am so happy to have a daycare I trust. Everyone is always so nice, and most importantly Charlie is always excited to see the trainers/sitters when they get him in the morning. Today I am especially grateful for Ariel. I called to ask to have Charlie ready for me when I got there, because I was running late to a flight, and she took the extra effort to walk him so he could use the bathroom before I arrived. I hadn't asked her to do that and I am so so appreciative of her thoughtfulness. Thanks for going above and beyond! K9's Only has been great for our 11 month old dog. With so many options in the Olympic/Sepulveda area, the team at K9s Only really sets themselves apart. They take care of our dog like they take care of their own - in fact, a few of the staff bring their dogs to work, and ours has become best friends with all of them. The entire staff cares, has great knowledge about dogs and their behavior, and is incredibly responsible and responsive. Jamie is a wonderful trainer - a "refresher" session is necessary every now and then for a puppy, but he loves working with Jamie and always comes home wanting to show off what he learned that day. Janet gives him the best baths and haircuts - very necessary considering how hard he plays at day care. We have also used their hotel service several times, and plan to continue doing so. If a dog gets this excited when he hears "day care" in the car a few blocks away and then pulls towards the door, then K9's Only is definitely doing it right. We did the 4 week board and train for our 9 month old golden retriever Bamboo. Jamie and Jennifer took such great care of him and he came back much better behaved, but with the same goofy personality! They also notified us when he developed an allergic reaction and we were able to meet them at the vet the same day. Before training it was impossible to walk bamboo on the leash. He was also terrified of garbage trucks. He's now great on the leash and we can take him everywhere. He also gained a lot of confidence and calmly walks by trucks and other big vehicles. There was a Yelp deal for free 150$ eval. I brought my dog in as a rescue and they told me it was 50$ for the eval. OK. I was willing to pay. It was supposed to go towards credit for training. I want what's best for my dog so was willing to pay. Came in. Liked Daniela a lot. Brent and I did not see eye to eye. He was pressuring me about doing private lessons and I told him it was too expensive and he was threatening me that when my dog bites someone, it'll be more expensive. Who says that? He told me 3 times about how I should do privates instead of waiting for the group to start again. Well, I walked out. Who wants to be pressured. I just want my dog to have good training since she is a rescue and needs to learn a few things. I walked out after telling him I did not like his approach and I was uncomfortable. Brent and I do not have a personality match. I will say Daniela- who I have talked to a couple of times before we scheduled the eval is a real gem. Liked her a lot and would have worked with her. Cat at the front was pleasant too as well as Goldie and I think Carolyn when I had called. I checked my credit card and there is a charge of 100$! What? I called to let them know about it and am being double charged. The 50$ charged twice. Well, the first 50 (which is free thru Yelp which they did not honor) was for the eval. Yes I walked out and didn't take classes so if I have to lose it, I agreed and took the risk. But the other 50$ was a mistake. So, then I called to let them know and they wanted ME to bring my card in to get re-credited. Fast forward to a whole week of calling to get my credit, Abdi, the manager or owner was supposed to call me. Never did. So, I emailed him asking about the 50$ for the eval. I think if they want to keep my money even though I did not have a good experience, they legally can, I agreed. But at least have the decency to respond and explain why and help with getting my credit back after being overcharged. Cannot recommend Sorry. I have a trainer now who is kind and easy to schedule with, has reasonable prices and genuinely wants to help with my rescue and not make as much $$ as she can! After this was first posted, I received the below feedback. I agree Daniela was great on the phone- however I was not given the option for her to train and Brett was not a good fit for us. Kelly, whoever you are, you were never mentioned as anyone in charge and certainly not someone I ever talked to so all of your info is secondhand at best. I think it looks better for a business to take feedback that is honest and not mean rather than to attack the person giving their true experience. I never received the refund. So actually, the phone calls (2) with Daniela, were 50$ since the eval was a flop. I never received a response when I asked for a refund. The overcharge took 2 weeks with persistent calling. Please contact me as the customer personally before printing untrue info and we can work something out. I sent emails and messages and got ZERO back from your company. However, I am open to getting a refund for the 50$ eval that was nothing. If not, enjoy the 50$ and the star I believe it deserves read more

While I still LOVE the service and staff at K9's only, their "no Sunday pick up" policy makes it almost impossible to board my dog over the weekend. I don't like to leave him any longer than necessary and the thought of him just sitting there on a Sunday when he could be at home is unappealing (and costly). I also don't like that nobody picks up the phone on Sundays, in the event that I wanted to call in and check on my dog. I've limited my use of the facility to day care only. read more

Important information needed to know before BOARDING your dog at K9's only. You may think that when you leave your dog at K9's Only, that you're dog plays all day!! NOT!!! Well, that is, not unless you pay the extra $20 on top of the $55 you've already paid for the "play pass". Otherwise, you're dog sits in a room all alone and all day except for 5, 20-30min breaks where they're allowed to play with other dogs. You're $55 boarding cost only buys you a little play time. In order to have the whole day (7a-7p), you need to buck up a ridiculous $75. I was boarding my dog at K9's before I discovered this lousy deal. I felt so bad when I realized my poor dog, who has so much energy to burn, was left cooped up most of the day. These are good things to know before choosing the right day care for your dogs needs. By the way, I am a real person with this real complaint/notification. I hate writing bad reviews about places, but here goes because this one's important. I've been bringing my dog here for years. It's hard to find places where we feel comfortable leaving him because he doesn't like other dogs, and he can be touchy about people grabbing his head. He's always done fine. This last time I brought him in, I got a phone call from the manager saying that he was having problems walking. He's getting up there in years so I figured it was just a case of old dog shakes. It was way, way worse than that. When I got him in my car, within 5 minutes, he had diarrhea all over the inside. This is after the girl who brought him out said he had just pooped inside. When I tried to take him on his walk when I got home, I realized that he was completely unable to walk. He kept falling over and his back legs wouldn't really work at all. Before I brought him in, we'd been going on walks that totaled about 3 miles a day. After I placed him in boarding, he could barely make it down the block. It goes on. I took him to the vet because I was so worried about his legs. He had gained 16 lbs in the 3 days he was in boarding. He had conjunctivitis. He had a bad viral stomach infection. His bad viral stomach ailment caused him to have diarrhea all over my house. He was throwing up. One rug later (it was so bad, we had to throw it away), he stopped eating. My dog lives for food. He wasn't tempted by anything. Seriously, we thought he was going to die, and we felt so guilty. He's better now, but he is walking nowhere near the same amount he did before. When I called management to complain, I got a lot of, "I don't know why you're saying this, we took such good care of him. It's not our fault." They went back to read the records and said he didn't exhibit symptoms while in their care. I call bullshit on this. All their highly trained professionals are high school and college students. I've seen a bunch of them over the years, and they are all young. I remember when I was in high school and college; I was an irresponsible moron. Finally, they said they'd get back to me and never did. 2 stars because the staff are nice and seem to like my dog, and we went here for a few years before we experienced a problem. read more

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!!!!! THIS IS A REVIEW ABOUT THE TRAINING PROGRAM!!!! We have two weimeraners who WERE absolutely TERRORIZING our house and possibly even our lives. We love them to death, but felt bad because they had no structure or direction as far as how to live it. As you may know, weimeraners are very high energy dogs. Our dogs are polar opposite, which makes it difficult for training. We felt bad keeping them on a small leash when we walked them because we didn't understand how to walk them "correctly." I understand (to some) that may sound silly and maybe even stupid, but I promise you it is an accurate description. Because of that we switched to a longer 16 foot leash and realized we had absolutely no control. There are correct ways to do things, which is what we have learned at K9's Only. We have tried an agility class with other dogs, we have tried home training with ourselves, we have tried having a trainer come to our house and train them in our home and we tried just a very basic obedience class, but none of that has worked. We started with private lessons with BRENT. He has been absolutely incredible. He has changed our lives and our dogs lives for the better. I know there are other ways to do this as they offer a litany of classes, but we started with privates because we were DESPERATE. AFTER THE VERY FIRST CLASS our dogs were walking on a leash without pulling. I am not exaggerating. Again, it takes practice and repetition, but BRENT knows EXACTLY what he's doing and is very dog specific because he is aware that every dog is different. Our dogs are now in the K-9 Etiquette class, having just completed the advanced Drive Works class. They know all the basic obedience commands, and walk near perfectly. One is slightly better than the other because we walk her in our neighborhood OFF LEASH. I cannot stress enough how incredible that is. 6 months ago, we could barely walk them around the block... THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. One is off leash and the other is walking perfectly (he is a little bit higher energy and more laser focused on his senses). They listen. They obey. Most importantly, they enjoy their lives without being disruptive to themselves. I never would have thought our dogs could transform this much and it's because BRENT knows how to teach YOU what to do. Dogs are smart. ALL DOGS ARE SMART. It's about teaching the handler how to read your dog in certain scenarios and know the right commands so when you are home you can practice CORRECTLY. I also want to mention that we have taken group classes and have been with other owners and dogs and have seen major transitions in their dogs as well. This is not a one trick pony. We start the advanced Etiquette class mid September and have already enrolled. We have made so much progress in such little time it almost hard to believe... We literally owe it almost all to Brent. Yes, our dogs are smart. Yes, we practiced a lot at home. BUT WE NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS WITHOUT BRENT AND HIS KNOWLEDGE AND STAFF. We have since been able to take our dogs on vacation WITH US and stay in a nice hotel in San Deigo and we have even booked a camp site in Yosemite in the fall. Our journey with K9s Only started in 2014 with our new puppy at the time. Xander came to us at 10 weeks old with instant signs of aggression. He was not play biting, he would latch on and not let go. Eventually, he did lash out at us and we knew it was a serious issue. We tried working with in-home trainers, but none seemed to understand how to deal with him. When Xander hit 5 months old, I started researching trainers to try find someone who could help us understand where this aggression came from. Thankfully, after much research we found K9s Only. Daniela was professional and friendly when speaking over the phone to better understand the situation. We came in for an evaluation, where Xander did show his aggression slightly, but nothing like we had seen. We opted for the in-kennel training for 4 weeks with the understanding we would have a long process ahead of us. She addressed all of our concerns and constant nagging for updates/photos. When we picked Xander up he was fully trained and showed tremendous signs of improvement. We were provided with the tools and resources to handle him. Though, I did not agree with the collar use, I understood why it was used and how to use it appropriately. It took follow-up visits and many months establishing my relationship with him, but he no longer has issues with aggression at all. Daniela even made time our of her day to come to our house to work with us! We were so pleased with the service and outcome with Xander, we opted to take our new addition Lexa to them for in-kennel training. She did not have any issues that caused concern, but we knew we wanted her to learn socialization and manners. Xander and Lexa both still enjoy going to daycare and the staff recognizes them every time they visit! We are forever grateful to Daniela and her team for offering support and guidance with both our yorkies. The awesome thing about this company, they care about your fur-babies as much as you do! I am choosing to share these 2 DESPICABLE INCIDENCES b/c I think it's important. Although many of my experiences have been good, these 2 situations, and the manner in which they were handled, by the owner, Bobby, and select trainers, has made trusting K9's Only with my dog way too difficult. 1st incident of horrendous service: I paid K9s only $50 for special medical attention that covered the cost of daytime care only for my 6 month old 5Ib Yorkshire Terrier. K9's ONLY job was to keep her injured paw and the bandage that covered it completely dry. I trusted them with this task, as she was to receive 1 on 1 care for the costly monitoring. Underneath her bandage was a raw and severely wounded paw/paw pads with the 22 stiches holding it all together for proper healing. At the time, I went to the Vet every 3-4 days to have the wound assessed, irrigated, debrided, dried, and re-bandaged. As a Registered Nurse, I was meticulous about her post-op care, for her ability to ever weight-bear/walk again was dependent on the quality of care during the healing period. Her bandage was just changed the day prior to dropping he off at K9's only. When I picked up my little Molly that evening after work, all seemed to be good. They even wrapped a cute little bandage around her injured paw. They claimed it was placed as extra protection to keep it dry. I had no reason, at that point, to question it. I just made sure it wasn't too tight. It appeared fine. THANK GOD that something, inside my gut, the next day, told me that I should remove the bandage they placed... Underneath that pretty little bandage K9's placed was a SATURATED, Putrid SMELLING, and CONTAMINATED dressing. They got it WET and COVERED IT UP! K9's not only FAILED to properly monitor my dog, the wound now was infested w bacteria (sitting in moisture) and a VET emergency! Rather than taking accountability in owning up to their NEGLIGENCE, K9's chose to HIDE IT with a dry, moisture repelling bandage!! DANGER!! Had I not discovered their "PATCH UP" job, my little Molly would have developed a severe infection that could have potentially caused a systemic spread, disruption in proper healing, or at worst...an amputation. When I reported the incident, they acted like they cared, told me they would get back to me, but never did. Edward was the trainer that handled that incident/no follow-up! K9's never offered money for the Vet bill nor did they refund the $50.00 I paid for their failed service! Thankfully, Molly healed after antibiotics, 4 weeks of stiches and dressing changes, and with the Grace of God, she walks, runs, and plays like she never lost her most critical weight bearing joint:) ________________________________________________________ Like a fool, after months of taking a break from K9's, I for some odd reason, I gave K9's another chance:( I guess my anger had subsided at that point, Molly was now healed, and I wanted to extend forgiveness to the young staff member that made such a bad decision that day by covering up her negligence. I remember times that I, also, made bad choices in fear. Lastly, I trusted Lana at reception and the many other darling staff members that took care of Molly when she was there. _____________________________________________________________ 2nd Incident 8/14: Molly got badly BITTEN at K9's!! 3 LG PUNCTURE WOUNDS ON HER BODY!!! (2 on her neck and 1 large one on her stomach) Now, we can all argue that accidents and dog bites are expected to happen at daycare on a very RARE occasion, just like children playing at school. They will fight. My argument is that IF the staff member at K9's was properly monitoring the dogs, there would have been immediate intervention before a 3rd bite would occur!! I was on vacation and had placed Molly in the care of 2 friends who were sharing responsibility. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between them. Molly was supposed to be at a better/more affordable daycare down the street. She had to spend the night at K9's after the trauma:( Awful!! K9's failed to take her to a vet and failed to properly assess her. They didn't even discover the 3rd bite wound!!! Danielle, the trainer, sent me a message while I was in Thailand..."Your dog has 2 puncture wounds on her neck. She is fine and is being monitored. I hope you're having a great vacation" Naturally, I was upset and had tons of questions.... K9's/PRINCIPAL FAIL: Bobby the owner still charged me for daycare, for the overnight stay, and for a meal!!!! He had the nerve to tell me he'd pick up the vet bill and after almost 6 weeks of pursuing the money from him, then deducted appx. $100 from the $140 bill and acted like he was doing me a favor. His response was "we still performed the service". What a joke!! I guess we can't teach people integrity and accountability! It's hard for me to support K9's Only, after these disturbing incidents. More unbelievable actions by owner occurred, but no more room. read more

K9's only is amazing. I have been taking my french bulldog here regularly for the last 6 months. I am a confessed "Dog Show" type person. I love my dog. He is fed a raw diet, he goes with me every where and we have full on conversations. So it's quite a big deal for me to really fall in love with a place that would take care of him. In the past, I actually paid someone to come and stay at my house when I was out of town just to be there with him... no joke. So back to K9's they are amazing!! The staff is incredible. From Edward & Brent (trainers), the runners, all the trainers and everyone who works the front desk. So kind and professional and all about the dogs. When we come in everyone knows my dogs name and is super excited to see him. Daycare - they have small and large dog day care and really keep an eye on the energy. They evaluate and continue to evaluate every dog that comes to daycare, and if you are a dog person you understand this is crucial. Everyday the energy could change just by one dog. Boarding - AMAZING! not only can you choose between a suite that has tv etc, but the other 'rooms' are just great too and really nice size for the dogs. You can have play passes and snuggle time set up for your dog while you are away. Training - they have all sorts of training options. My guy went through their bootcamp at the Tarzana location for 4wks. Then I got training through them. They guarantee the training of your dog for as long as you own them, which hopefully is their lifetime. I honestly would send anyone here. They so caring and really connected to the dog spirit! read more

I left a stellar review for K9's only previously. I always give credit where credit is due. The manager really looked out for my Belgian Malinois Cairo when I needed it the most and I will always appreciate that. Anyone who is familiar with the Malinois breed knows they are very active high energy dogs and it takes an experienced owner/caregiver to take care of them. The last few times I took Cairo to K9s only I noticed the staff really struggled with him. When they brought him out they struggled to hold on to the leash and keep him under control which is typical with persons who are no experienced with powerful highly active breeds. Keep in mind he is not aggressive AT ALL. He's the sweetest boy ever! I didn't think anything of it but the last time he went there was the last straw for me. When they released him to me in the lobby he immediately started peeing in the lobby! And he never does that inside!! It was obvious that due to his highly energetic nature they simply gave up on him and kept him trapped inside a cage the entire time because they didn't want to deal with him and he obviously held his urine because he didn't want to pee where he had to sit! Then the trainer had the nerve to ask me about training I inquired about previously! I took my boy outside, let him relieve himself properly and never went back to this place. If you have a highly active breed I would not recommend! I was so appalled and how he peed so much as soon as he saw me like he really took the first chance he got and I know my bioy he did it out of necessity! NOT COOL AT ALL!!! read more

Kokonut loves this place. We were first introduced to K9s only when we had to go on an extended vacation. It was difficult finding a higher-end overnight boarding for my 14 year old American Eskimo, Kokonut... most "kennels" are depressing, dirty, and seemed to have staff that doesn't really care or know much about dogs. I called about 2 dozen boarding companies all over LA County before find K9s Only... and they've been so great, Koko goes everyday now! (day boarding). Kokonut is very shy around other dogs, and what they call "non-social". He's not violent by any means, but he's like the nerdy shy kid in school who gets bullied on. Because of this, we needed a boarding situation where he enjoys peace and quiet, but also gets to go out, move around, etc. etc. without being stuffed into a room with other dogs. At K9s Only, Koko stays in their King Suite. He is taken out 5-6 times per day for potty breaks, and gets a city walk mid-day. He loves it! He usually sleeps during the day or watches the movies they play in his room. ($50 per day + $20/city walk) There have been some instances where I've seen how much the staff/owner really cares. For one, the owner particated in rescue missions to retrieve dogs left behind from natural disasters - awww! Also, the owner educated me on some of the treats I was giving Kokonut. Some of them were harmful to him and I didn't even realize. The most touching/interesting, is that one day I got a call at the office from K9s Only. They said that Kokonut's achem, balls, were dry and chapped and he was fussing with them. They were going to call the vet and then apply some Vasciline to help soothe it. Haha - it's kinda of gross and endearing all at the same time! That evening, when I picked him up, the caretakers gave me a veterinary research article that explains the medical condition - for my education. He said that the staff researches and educates each other on different 'adverse' situations so that they can better take care of our four-legged loved ones. Double awwww:) Anyhow, needless to say. We're regulars. We're so regular that I know the other moms and dads who drop off and pick up their little ones on the same schedule. It's invaluable to have peace of mind when you're on vacation, or just working hard at the office, knowing that great folks are caring for your little posh. PS - total side note: there's a pot dispensary a block from K9s Only! We joke about it... but they have it in Kokonut's file that I would prefer Koko not to sniff any pot:) read more

This place is an absolute scam! Their "take over training" is ridiculously overpriced and you get total crap out of it. Your dog will still have all the problems they had before and the trainers will blame you for it. They are unbelievably rude and have horrid customer service. If you express any dissatisfaction in their services they dig their heels in and point the finger right at you, no attempts to rectify their poor work. Stay away! read more

I'm so thankful that we found K9s Only to train our German Shepherd Mix, Loofah! At first we were very hesitant because it was a $150 evaluation but my boyfriend & I decided to do it anyways since, if it didn't workout, we could use it for daycare or something. We spoke with Daniela on the phone & she was awesome! She explained everything so clearly. At the evaluation they recommended taking the classes for our pup. We decided to buy the basic & intermediate class package. My pup now has her AKC Canine Good Citizen & is more well behaved than ever! They are awesome here & I love their training philosophy. Brent, Daniela, & Jason explain everything so thoroughly & help us relate it to how a human might think. That's really helpful for new dog owners who are trying to get to know their dog. :) We are now planning to enroll in the advanced class to train for the AKC Community Canine test! K9s Only is the only place I trust with my precious pups! When our 2 young male dogs, Ethan (EasyE the Great Pyr) and MannyP (Pitty Cent) joined our pack, we were a little overwhelmed. We were so used to older less active dogs. Our boys were both rescues and had their issues with each other. With help from K9s Only's Bobby and Edward, we are now better well-trained doggy parents and our boys are the happiest, well behaved pups who are best buddies! Thank you so much, K9s Only! K9s Only staff are the best! They take such good care of the pups and are always going out of their way for the doggy parents! The facility is amazing, large and clean. We started taking our dog "Bella" to K9's only when she was 4 months, in 2011. After her basic obedience training she was so happy at this kennel that she became a regular client... Intermediate obedience, high obedience and finally because of a health condition with me, Bella became a Service Dog, always at K's Only. I can't imagine a more professional and better place for our K'9 ... It became not only our dogs second home but also many members of the staff became part of our heart family. We love K9's Only!!! We have gone through basic obedience with Brent for our 2 year old pit mix, Nigel. He did so well in his class and is incredibly easier to walk now! Maggie, our little loving and cuddly but leash reactive pup, went through 1 month in the board and train program and is doing well now. All of our problems are not solved BUT we are working to communicate with her effectively. They are serious when they say that they will do endless follow ups! Our pups go to daycare about once a week and the front area is always clean and pleasant. Everyone who works at K9's obviously loves dogs and they are always smiling and easygoing (when we get there to pick up the dogs, they instantly call back on a walkie that Maggie and Nigel's mom/dad is here!). We have also gotten the pups groomed there and they came home smelling wonderful. The pups are always happy to go to K9's Only and we are happy to have such a great doggie care place in our neighborhood!! read more

I honestly cannot say enough good things about K9's Only. We started sending our dog Charlie to K9s Only a few months ago when my husband started studying for the Bar. I work all-day M-F and being able to take Charlie to a safe place where he comes back EXHAUSTED has really been a lifesaver for us. Another thing I love about K9's Only is that they don't discriminate. Charlie is a sweet, playful 36-lb bundle of energy but he is also a pit bull. Many doggy daycares won't even do an evaluation with him purely because of his breed, but not this one! K9s Only welcomed us with open arms and once Charlie passed the evaluation he was in! The staff has been nothing but INCREDIBLE with Charlie. He absolutely adores them and it totally puts me at ease that they know him by name and come out to pet him whenever we bring him in. The staff here truly care about and love your pet and do everything in their ability to make sure they have a fun and safe stay while you are away. Charlie always comes back exhausted which is so great for us because I know he's gotten his fair share of exercise. We absolutely will be continuing to take Charlie to K9s Only and recommending it to everyone we know! We've referred them to our entire organization (Los Angeles Responsible Pit Bull Owners) and have already had 2 people sign up at the Tarzana location. Took my pup in for a haircut last week to help make this ridiculous heat a little more bearable, and fairly pleased with the results! I had purchased a groupon for a bath and trim, and I guess I was confused, but I had thought that the 'trim' meant a haircut? But I guess it wasn't because I had to pay an extra $25 when I picked my dog up. But overall, with the groupon included I paid a total of $55, so it was cheaper than actually getting a haircut at petco, so I can't really complain. He got a nice summer cut and they left more hair on his face like I asked them too, so his face is still nice and fluffy! Alexis was our groomer and she was very sweet and did a very good job. The only part I kind of wished they trimmed up a bit more was the tail - I don't think they trimmed it at all. But that wasn't a big deal so I don't mind. The staff here are all super friendly. I called that morning and was able to get an afternoon appointment. All the doggies leaving the placed looked super happy and so did their owners, so that was a great sign! I will definitely keep this place in mind for future groomings! read more

Daniela is by far one of the best trainers I've worked with. Her compassion goes beyond the doors of K9's. She even has a menagerie of all rescue animals in her home! We adopted our pittie from Daniela a couple of years ago and never regretted it for a second. Our Pitbull was used as a bait dog for fighting as a pup so to say he has some trust issues is an understatement. I met Bruce when she first started fostering him and he was unruly and hard to even approach. He would literally flip out on a leash screaming and trying to run away. Bruce has been with us for 2 years now and he goes for long walks on our street passing several dogs in their yards, goes out on the boat, naps by the cat, and is the sweetest boy on Earth! If you're looking for someone with nothing but patience, love, and kindness definitely go see Daniela. read more

Halle-fricking-lujah! What a relief to find a clean, modern boarding option that does not require your dog to be "free play." My dog is a rescue who was abused, used for breeding and has been attacked by another dog. As a result, she loves, loves, loves all humans but has fear-based aggression towards other dogs. My boyfriend and I performed a pretty exhaustive search to find a place that could give my Mona her own room (rather than chain-link kennel), was staffed by trained professionals and could accommodate her for the Thanksgiving holiday...and nearly had to cancel our trip until we found K9s Only. For $80 per night (holiday rate, which is $5 more than the regular rate), Mona had a "King Suite" with a bed and a TV that played animal-related movies (which I appreciated only because it probably helped to drown out any noises that would have otherwise stressed her out). Because she cannot play with other dogs, she received one-on-one play time with a staff member. I also appreciate that the owner of K9s Only also owns and runs a rescue organization and that the staff, as a result, are familiar with rescue dogs and basic training. Because of my girl's issues, I'm wary of entrusting her to just anyone, and I felt comfortable leaving her here. I had a few minor issues (i.e. wish that real walks did not cost additional money and that they could accommodate Sunday pick-ups) but, overall, I am thrilled to have found a boarding option that understands that some dogs just need their own space. I'll definitely continue to use K9s Only's services. read more

Thank Goodness for this doggie hotel. While it is not the cheapest - you do get what you pay for... My poochie is a rescue and has a bite record. K9's only is the only place that I could take him and know that he was going to be safe. Matlock has a bite record because someone put their hands between he and another dog fighting - result - a human got bit. I don't know the circumstances of the dog fight. What I do know however, is that most locations make you sign a waiver. And if YOUR dog bites someone, they have the right to bring that dog to a shelter - any shelter... kill shelter or not! That scared me crazy. My dog is well cared for and K9's only has been supportive - so much that my dog frolics with others in the doggy daycare and is socialized in a safe environment. I am not a rich person, but knowing my canine is cared for in the best environment as well as safe - that is a priceless feeling. I groom Matlock here as well, they are very good and he always comes out wagging his tail. I couldnt recommend high enough read more

I have nothing but great things to say about K9's Only. Its readily apparent that the team genuinely cares about each dog and will go out of their way to make them feel comfortable. My pup had some behavioral issues. Instead of telling me that my dog was no longer welcome, they devised a training regimen to tackle his issues. For that I am very grateful! Everyone at K9s Only West has been wonderful to my dog and me. I have a rescue who wasn't properly socialized, so I brought her in for daycare. They have really gone above and beyond to give my dog special attention. They make sure she's not getting overwhelmed, and they give me progress reports after every time I bring her in. Keli and I just finished the advance Canine Good Citizen training in Brent's class in the K9's W LA facility. Brent was beyond anything the class could have ask for as a Trainer. I've written about K9's in the past and always given them 5 stars. I would love to give 10 stars for these training classes. Keli loved going every Sat and Brent really brought the best out of my Dog but made me realize how to be a better owner, communicator, and overall friend to my FGS puppy. I still call her my Puppy at 30 months old.:))) If u want your dog trained to follow your every commend I highly recommend these classes. K9's offers Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced AKA Good Citizen Classes. It was the best money I could have spent on training Keli. Thanks again Brent and Bobby for making these classes available. This is the best place ever. I absolutely love Brent and his staff. They all love what they do and want the best for the dogs. My anxiety filled 2.5 year old German Shep Maverick absolutely loves going to visit and stay with his K9's only fam bam.
